This one just popped up in my head and I think makes since

Toronto- werenski

Columbus- 1st round pick 2018

Toronto- zadorov

Colorado-kapanen, 3rd round pick

: Toronto gets 2 great young defencemen and still doesn't quite fill the number 1 role that gives them a solid top 4

1.) 20 Jan 2018 05:17:03
1st for a future #1 d man (already top pairing d man), definately not. Werenski is a star in the making, it’ll take Marner or Nylander to pry him away.

2.) 20 Jan 2018 06:42:39
Are you nuts?

Have you watched hockey?

My god.

Toronto fans.

3.) 20 Jan 2018 06:45:23
To the first one, As a leafs fan, I say “let’s do it! ”
As a rational hockey fan I say “get real”

The second one might be decent value because zadorov is an NHL Dman and kapanen is probably a middle six forward on a lot of teams. I just think there’s plenty of other D I’d rather pursue if I’m Toronto and willing to part with a good young player and a pick.

4.) 20 Jan 2018 08:12:28
It sure makes sense, yes. Just for TOR tho.

5.) 20 Jan 2018 08:57:29
I could be wrong hammer but I’m going out on a wing here and going to say a flames fan posted that.

6.) 20 Jan 2018 11:52:10
That’s a type of dman the leafs would consider trading Marner/ Nylander for not Dougie Hamilton.

7.) 20 Jan 2018 16:51:00
Oof, hell no from Columbus.

Ottawa- Schneider, bratt, 2nd round

New Jersey- Karlsson

Logic: I do not believe Karlsson is going anywhere but sports analysts like to talk and they have been talking a Karlsson trade and if it happened this would be the trade to make- it's likely Anderssons last season and Schneider is only 31 and could give Ottawa another 6-7 years of good goaltending, bratt is a overachieving 6th rounder who has 29 points in 43 games which is on pace for almost 60 points in his rookie season and the 2nd rounder would be good for ottawas young depth and giving away Karlsson will hurt a lot less with this trade dedicating to a rebuild but most of the pieces are already there so they can be back and running in 2-3 years with 3 years left of Schneider

1.) 19 Jan 2018 17:17:58
Oh god.

2.) 19 Jan 2018 19:04:45
If Karlsson isn't that keen on resigning, I'd take the deal. Schneider is a hell of a goalie and greatly, greatly underestimated. With Anderson aging I think it could be very beneficial for the Sens.

3.) 19 Jan 2018 21:38:22
People, were talking about a 2 time norris trophy defenceman here, not a 3rd line guy. Lol, schneider is not an elite goaltender by any means. Karlsson is an elite player, and there's no way that ottawa even considers accepting that little for Karlsson. Might as well pay for what the kid wants

4.) 20 Jan 2018 02:43:54
Bud maybe u don't watch hockey but I do Scheider is a Olympian.

5.) 20 Jan 2018 04:07:24
Flamer34. which olympics did he compete in? Maybe you should watch hockey.

6.) 20 Jan 2018 04:14:36
Lmao what is this trade 😂. A top 3 player in the world for a debatable top 10 goalie ok player with top 6 potential and a 2nd? Ottawa’s management is a mess but not this much.

7.) 20 Jan 2018 07:07:10
The trade isn’t close to enough substance for a team to trade a superstar. I get the needs of a good goalie, but there has to be something that makes it so they can’t say no. got to have at least a top prospect, a 1st round pick, maybe another conditional 1st.

However, saying Schneider is not an elite goalie is pretty soft too lol he’s an insanely good goalie who stands on his head for the devils. He’s not exactly playing behind the stingy NJ devils of the 90s and 2000s with hall of fame defense.

Arizona- nylander, 2nd round

Logic- Toronto has one of the better teams in the league yet arguably the worst defence, bringing in a guy like Larsson would make them an instant cup contender and Arizona needs young guys

1.) 19 Jan 2018 15:17:32
Leafs capped out and can't take on OEL's salary.
Sorry unrealistic deal salary cap wise, Unrealistic deal value wise.
To even it up Add Morgan Reilly and you're in the ball park.

2.) 19 Jan 2018 17:29:05
the leafs are not capped out at all, bozak komorov jvr moore polak are all ufa's that's 13.5 mil that is coming off the books, yes they have to resign Mathews and nylander and marner but still all plausible. OEL at this point is not going to get more than 8 mil a season. If he does its an overpayment by whoever pays.

3.) 19 Jan 2018 20:56:14

4.) 19 Jan 2018 22:47:13
13.5 + 5 for Lupul = 18.5 cap relief next year

Needed next year:
Matthews 12M
Marner 7 M
Nylander 6 M

25M required.
Put you at a Deficit of about 7M . Who else is leaving?

Sorry but the Leafs can't take on OEL's salary this year. or next unless someone else goes.

5.) 19 Jan 2018 23:29:58
The leafs have a ton of cap space with Lupul and Horton on LTIR I’m really not sure what you’re talking about and I’d rather have 10+! years of Nylander then 1.5 of OEL.

6.) 20 Jan 2018 01:41:15
I think you nailed it Topshelf. It sounds just like him. It’s too bad people don’t have the balls to admit their previous accounts, and you’re still anonymous. Lol.

7.) 20 Jan 2018 07:20:49
Matthews 12
Marleau 6.25
Nylander 6.5
Marner 6.5
Kadri 4.5
Brown 2.1
Hyman 2.25
Martin 2.5
Gauthier 1
Kapanen 1
Leivo 1
Sosh 1

Rielly 5
Zaitsev 4.5
Gardiner 4
Liljegren 1
Dermott 1

Andersen 5
Pickard 1

That’s 76.1 million dollars. Cap is 75 this year and going up an estimated 5 mill. Also only nylander gets his raise this coming year. Matthews and marner are both the next year so texhnically they should both still be at 925k on that list. and every other contract on there is what they’re actually locked in at. Kadri, Rielly, Andersen, zaitszev, brown and human all for between 3 and 6 more years at that cap hit after this season. Martins 2.5 and marleaus 6.25 only overlap Matthews and marners raises by a single season before cap will most likely go up again and an additional almost 9 mill is freed up.

Not saying it’s going to happen, but this leafs management has set themselves up and have planned for years down the road.

Saying they can’t afford to make a move is stupid.

8.) 20 Jan 2018 09:08:08
It took him a while to get over that Strome/ Eberle deal but now he’s back. FT4A bashed Strome on a daily basis and disappeared after the mighty oilers picked him up.

19 Jan 2018 04:43:25
TB- pacioretty
MTL-namestnikov, coburn, 1st round pick

Logic- namestikov has 35 points in 45 games this season and is a young winger which Montreal needs, coburn gives immediatel defensive depth and the 1st round pick won't be too good if it was a top 15 it wouldn't be worth it for Tampa I expect them to make 3rd round and with this trade win the cup, they would spread out the talent but power play line pacioretty-stamkos-kucherov.

1.) 19 Jan 2018 05:14:17
But Tampas main weakness is defensive play and lose an every day guy in Coburn. Not to mention Namestnikov has a lot of chemistry with Stamkos and Kucherov. i'm not sure this actually makes Tampa better today as a team.

2.) 19 Jan 2018 05:31:35
Tampa doesn't really have a weakness they got hedman and sutr for big defencemen.

3.) 19 Jan 2018 08:18:38
Maybe habs can add a defender back in the deal like:

Pacioretty, Benn for Namestnikov, Coburn and 1st round pick.

Otherwise i like it but if D is a weakness than that would be enticing for Tampa.

4.) 19 Jan 2018 12:33:07
You know Sustr sucks right. Like he's a terrible D man. Hedmans hurt and the reason they're on a skid is because their defence has been awful most the year and Vasi cooled off a bit. They have 2-3 legit top 4 D when everyone is healthy with Coburn as a guy that can step up.

5.) 19 Jan 2018 13:42:51
Namestnikov has great chemistry with Stamkos and Kuch. Coburn and Girardi stabilize that D core. I don't think they risk this trade to bring in Pacioretty. Maybe a 1st and a prospect and then they don't break all what's clearly working up.

6.) 19 Jan 2018 13:51:14
So yup do you think a 1st + Point ? Or a lower prospect

7.) 19 Jan 2018 13:57:23
Flamers at this point Point isn't a prospect, he's a young established player. They don't add a fist to him for Patches. I wouldn't do point for Patches straight up right now tbh.

8.) 19 Jan 2018 13:58:42
I would happily give a first Sustr and any prospect not named Foote Raddysh or Katchouk really. Howden borderline.

9.) 19 Jan 2018 14:24:47
I think Point has more value that Nam because of position.
They are probably keeping both because of age. Would let go of guys like Johnsn, Palat, Killorn before they think of Point and Nam. Saying that, I don't think they are really interested in Patches as well. Unless one of Johnson kill or not palate are going the other way and I bet
Montreal has no interest in that. Remember, Yzerman is a magical wizard. Lol.

All I see here is Toronto giving up a top 4 D for a top 2 D and rangers killing they're cap space with 3rd liners.
