Welcome to this year's edition of my 31 #BoldPredictions, each team will be featured at least once:

1. The Carolina Hurricanes will make the NHL Playoffs and advance at least one round.
2. Nico Hischier will score more than 55 points, helping the Devils to a top 12 finish in the East.
3. Mika Zibanejad will thrive in his role as first line C and score more than 65 points.
4. The Washington Capitals will barely make the playoffs, finishing in the East's WC1 spot, despite a career year from Andre Burakovsky, who will score more points than TJ Oshie.
5. The Sabres will barely miss the playoffs, improving behind 180+ points from their first line of Kane-Eichel-Reinhart.
6. The Leafs will finish in the East's WC2 spot, 1 point ahead of the Sabres. Matthews will score less than 35 goals and less than 65 points.
7. The Red Wings finish as the league's worst team, despite Anthony Mantha's 30+ goals and 60+ points.
8. The Canadiens will finish third in the Atlantic, thanks to Price's .930 or better SV%. Jonathan Drouin will be shifted back to the wing after recording just 3 points in his first 10 games. In the final 72 games, he gets another 60 points, tho.
9. The Bruins will win the Atlantic while rookie Andres Bjork thrives next to Bergeron and Marchand, scoring 20+ goals and 50+ points.
10. After last years surprising run, the Sens miss the playoffs. They sign Erik Karlsson to an 8 year, 100m extension, tho.
11. The Penguins win the Presidents Trophy and Jake Guentzel finishes with more scoring points than the Red Wings standings points.
12. The Islanders trade captain John Tavares at the deadline while being out of playoff contention.
13. Andrei Vasilevskiy of the Lightning will finish top 5 in Wins, SV% and GAA amongst goalies with 40+ starts and gets a Vezina nomination.
14. The Blue Jackets will have a top 3 PP in the League, while Werenski and Panarin both finish top 10 in the league in PPP.
15. Rookie Nolan Patrick finished with less than 30 points. Brian Elliott has an impressive year behind an improving Flyers D and has more than 30 Wins. Wayne Simmonds will lead the Flyers in points.
16. Aaron Ekblad is one of only 3 D to score 20+ goals and finishes second behind Brent Burns in SOG among D with 250+.

17. Ben Bishop leads the Stars to 108 points, which makes Dallas win the West, Ken Hitchock the Jack Adams Award and Ben Bishop another 2nd place in Vezina voting.
18. The Jets finish ahead of the Blackhawks and will advance at least 1 round in the playoffs. Ehlers, Scheifele, Wheeler and Laine form the leagues highest scoring 4 players with 280+ points.
19. Vegas finishes as the leagues 3rd worst team in front of DET and VAN. Jonathan Marchessault scores 30+ goals again.
20. The LA Kings miss the playoffs again, despite a bounce back season from Anze Kopitar, who scores 70+ points.
21. Mike Smith of the Flames finishes with more Wins than Cam Talbot of the Oilers, leading CGY to another playoff appearance.
22. Brock Boeser leads the Canucks in goals with 25+. Derrick Pouliot scores 20+ points in just 50 games.
23. The Sharks will miss the playoffs and trade Joe Thornton at the deadline.
24. Clayton Keller of the Coyotes will win the Calder Trophy, leading his team to the #9 spot in the West, just 1 point behind the WC2 Blackhawks.
25. Ryan Nugent-Hopkins of the Oilers gets traded during the season. The Oilers finish just third in the Pacific behind the Flames and Ducks.
26. The Ducks will see Brandon Montour score 40+ points, while forward Nick Ritchie improves from 28 to 58 points.
27. The St. Louis Blues finish in the WC1 spot and go out in the first round of the playoffs against the Flames. Brayden Schenn scores less than 50 points.
28. The Wild will finish third in the Central, lead by Devan Dubnyk winning 40+ games. Joel Eriksson Ek will finish with more points than Charlie Coyle.
29. The Predators finish second in the West. Viktor Arvidsson follows up his great rookie campaign with 35+ goals and 70+ points. Kevin Fiala gets the third most goals with 28.
30. The Blackhawks barely squeeze into the playoffs, thanks to 60+ points from Alex DeBrincat. Patrick Kane finishes with just 78 points this year.
31. The Avalanche will trade Duchene to either the Penguins or Blackhawks during the season. Mikko Rantanen leads the team in goals and points.

Number 18 and your playoff selections are contradictory.

2.) 04 Oct 2017 22:56:35
nice post.

3.) 04 Oct 2017 23:25:41
Damn yes, they are. Was super hard to keep track of everything with so many predictions. I'll take Jets over Blues in WC1.

4.) 06 Oct 2017 16:36:36
Lots of thought into that.
I think Droiun will flourish as a center. 70 to 75 points.
I don't see the Bruins in 1st. Tampa, Toronto, Montreal would be my order. With Boston battling the Habs for 3rd and wildcard.
Where is Kane in top 5 scorers?

5.) 07 Oct 2017 09:29:32
Left him out due to loss of Panarin. He could obviously still end up in the top 3-5. Just a feeling of mine.
Drouin is not build to be a 1C. I'm prolly one of the biggest Drouin fans alive, but he's a winger and in no world a 1C. Put AG at C and have Drouin on the wing, that line could be great.

TB would need to send a prospect or pick as sweetener I guess.

TB has more than enough space to add him at the deadline. With that being said, there is literally no way TB is that stupid. Howden is projected to be a good 2/ 3 two-way C and a 1st? TB already has 8 NHL defensemen and regularly scratches 1 or 2 of them.

Kane might be the better player in an isolated world, but Namestnikov has great chemistry with Kuch and Stamkos. No one guarantees Kane will come close to that.
I agree, it's too much too give up for half a year of Kane. If they could somehow make a sign and trade with a reasonable contract for Kane (which I doubt), I might change my opinion, tho.

Why would TB do this? Does not really make sense for me. Johnson is performing pretty good for his current price tag. 5m for a good two-way player putting up ~0.8 points per game after a slow start seems fair to me. So he is a worthy piece of his own, especially for a franchise like Vegas that needs skill (I know they've been doing great so far, but they are still not a very skilled team) . So there's really no reason at all to treat Johnson like a cap dump and add so many pieces to this deal. A quality D prospect currently excelling for the Czechs at the WJC, a solid middle 6 winger in Erne and a 1st and a 2nd? Geez.

Um the question is rather is the difference between ROR and RNH big enough to make up for Nurse being worth quite a lot more than McCabe and my answer to this would definitely be no.
