assuming everyone involved is willing to sign/ resign, and vasilevsky busts (which he wont)

price patches

stammer bish.

-ovies hero

1.) 05 Jun 2016 06:35:58
I think stammer/ bish has more value than price/ patches all being equal. It's the contract stuff that muddies it.

26 Feb 2016 01:08:46
to get dano and a late first is a good deal for wpg for a guy they shouldn't give 6m too.

i like posting tsns news

hagelin for perron and clendenningchange of scenery for both, neither one played well this year.

-ovies hero

1.) 16 Jan 2016 17:39:47
I Think the penguins won that trade by a lot.

2.) 16 Jan 2016 20:15:55
I think the penguins really screwed the pooch on that one.

06 Jan 2016 22:20:52
i like the 2 pieces of trash at half price for a never going to be and 3rd trade today. everyone freaking out over this trade needs to sit down. its less excitiing than any 1st round pick being traded anywhere anytime.

please note that i own a leafs luke schenn jersey.

-ovies hero

1.) 06 Jan 2016 23:44:26
I don't think you've watched Weal play.

2.) 07 Jan 2016 08:14:36
Can I trade you for my Clarkson jersey?

if you haven't seen ryan reeves post game interview after the hit, please find it and watch it. wilson ran into a lion in the jungle.

-ovies hero

1.) 06 Dec 2018 02:03:18
Yeah I think it's pretty safe to assume he's ready to rumble anytime with Wilson.

15 Aug 2018 23:08:59
matthews at 11m or tavares at 11m?

since they will make close to the same money i wonder who out plays who.

-ovies hero

1.) 15 Aug 2018 23:40:22
Idk ovie I want to say matthews will out play him and I'm sure he will in the last few years of tavares contract. But we have to remember the best player tavares ever had on his team was matt Barzal and he didn't really play much with him. So with better line mates he could easily put up the best numbers of his career.

2.) 16 Aug 2018 00:28:31
Take Matthews everyday! I thought the Tavares signing was dumb should have got oel (imo)

3.) 16 Aug 2018 01:25:50
I’d say Tavares for a couple more years Ovie. Was OEL available to Toronto? You don’t just get whoever you want madeadouche. Toronto would have had to give up a ton IF Arizona would even want to part with him. “The Tavares signing was dumb” is one of the dumbest things you’ve said on here. Everyone knows Toronto needs defense but you don’t turn down a chance at signing one of the top centres in the game.

4.) 16 Aug 2018 03:01:42
Matthews will get $12 mil per year and more if he gets to RFA next July 1st and Arizona makes him a crazy $15 mil per year offer which the Leafs will have to match.

5.) 16 Aug 2018 03:05:01
Can’t go out and get oel without giving soemthing ofassive value hence getting oel was impossible while Tavares was signed for free and he was kept out of other divisional rivals lineup so can’t complain there.

6.) 16 Aug 2018 14:38:27
Signing of Tavares dumb. first time i have heard that one.

7.) 16 Aug 2018 22:00:20
Mathews AINEC.

8.) 17 Aug 2018 03:05:23
i hope matthews outplays him, at least by the last 4 years of jts contract

i hope i'm wrong but matthews to me isn't there yet. he's not mcdavid, he's not ovechkin, he's not crosby, he's awesome. but he's not that guy yet.

made in dade

signing tavares dumb, you know nothing. biggest free agent signing since scott neidermayer and its dumb. you are the definition of stupid

vb, silly child, take your "another level" and "ainec" talk and shove it, you don't know anything other than whos younger and who most experts think have the most potential going forward.

from our fantasy for everyones enjoyment

8/ 16 10:47:28 AM A$AP VB: In this Keeper league I’d say

8/ 16 10:47:40 AM A$AP VB: 1.McDavid

8/ 16 10:47:47 AM A$AP VB: 2.Mathews

8/ 16 10:47:55 AM A$AP VB: 3.Liane

8/ 16 10:48:10 AM A$AP VB: 4.Kucherov

8/ 16 10:48:42 AM A$AP VB: 5.Crisby

8/ 16 10:51:03 AM A$AP VB: 6. Tavares

8/ 16 10:51:18 AM A$AP VB: 7. Eichel

8/ 16 10:51:31 AM A$AP VB: 8.Ovie

8/ 16 10:51:44 AM A$AP VB: 9.Seguin

8/ 16 10:53:24 AM A$AP VB: 10. Schifele

8/ 16 10:54:04 AM A$AP VB: 11. Pasternak

8/ 16 10:54:32 AM A$AP VB: 12. Mackinnon

8/ 16 10:55:00 AM A$AP VB: 13.Taresenko

8/ 16 10:55:11 AM A$AP VB: 14. Guadreau

8/ 16 10:55:35 AM A$AP VB: 15.Hall

8/ 16 10:56:57 AM A$AP VB: Key cuts-Malkin, Marchand, Kane and Stamkos

a top 15 fantasy list that doesn't include stammer marchand kane and malkin is all anyone on this site needs to see to take away all of your credibility that never existed in the first place.

9.) 17 Aug 2018 05:02:08
There not in that list because of age lol it’s a keeper league and Malkin/ Stammer are injury prone + are getting older. The black hawks are brutal Kane can’t do it him self and I’m not sold on Marchand keeping up his pace.

10.) 17 Aug 2018 05:09:51
Mathews as a 18 year old rookie out produced a 6 year veteran in John Tavares. He took the last place team in the nhl and transformed them into a contender. Yes I’ll take a 20 year old Mathews over JT AINEC.

You’re the one who said Rantanen>Schifele/ Liane.

11.) 17 Aug 2018 05:15:39
I had to google “AINEC”, fu*k I must be old. I agree Ovie that Matthews is not there yet. I said before that Matthews reminds me of “the magician”, Datsyuk, but even that is premature for the career he had. The way he strips people of the puck is amazing and he obviously can put up big numbers, but let’s see more than 2 years before calling him the greatest US player like vbb’s thinks.

12.) 17 Aug 2018 05:30:27
Wasn't a 18 year old matthews playing in Switzerland? how was that out producing tavares?

13.) 17 Aug 2018 06:05:34
19 year old sorry his birthday is during preseason.

14.) 17 Aug 2018 15:17:44
Ppl disagree that Auston Matthews birthday is during preseason lol I get that you guys don’t like VBB, but that’s rediculous haha.

15.) 17 Aug 2018 17:20:44
Lol thanks Jim.

16.) 17 Aug 2018 18:18:21
I say they are close this season and I expect (and hope) that Matthews will be better soon and that gap will widen a bit each year after. Both great players but o hinknits reasonable to assume that the team should get better years out of Matthews from 21-28 years old than from JT 28-35. It’s just natural, as good and as healthy as JT has been, that his game will trail off a bit because the league is so young and so fast now. Best part about the 7 year max tho is that we didn’t have to get him till 38/ 39/ 40 where it’s almost a certainty he will be a shadow of himself. He should be fairly productive for all of it and at 34 or 35 if his game is still good, you can resign him short term.

02 Jul 2018 23:21:01
Mcdonaugh extention will look aweful by 2021.

lot of hard miles in new york, 3-4 more deep playoff runs equates to an extra season on those tires.

no trade for whole duration. if he was serious about wanting to contend for the next 8 seasons (feasable with that group) he should have taken 5 million, especially with the taxes.

me thinks stevie y will regret this one.

-ovies hero

1.) 03 Jul 2018 04:07:31
I don’t know if it will look bad in 3 years. By year 6 I’m sure it will. But the same day his 6.75 kicks in (a raise of 2mill) stralman, Girardi ans cobourn all come off the books at just over $11 mill total.

So of that 11 mill, McDonoughs raise takes $2 mill, bring stralman back for $5 mill of it and you have a top 4 of Hedman, Stralman, McDonough and Sergachev for $4 mill less than they’re spending right now.

Still a great D core behind all those forward and in front of vasilevsky.

2.) 03 Jul 2018 09:05:10
Doubt Stralman gets a raise on his current deal considering his age, but I agree with most of the rest you've said.

3.) 03 Jul 2018 13:09:35
Ya it doesn't look great. It all depends on how quickly he crashes since it looks like its already started. My gut reaction is bad deal but i'm hoping he's able to rebound a bit if he regains form it won't look bad. D contracts in general are starting to get outta hand.

01 Jul 2018 18:11:02
i was wrong, the homers can homer, Go leafs go, suck on that haters.

-ovies hero

1.) 01 Jul 2018 18:33:28
John Tavares for Ryan Pulock and a 5th.

You get that defenceman you wanted and shed $11 million in salary.

2.) 01 Jul 2018 18:34:49
That’s right ovie, sorry chirp.

3.) 01 Jul 2018 20:23:26
Theres so many salty leaf haters on twitter about this. Its funny.

4.) 01 Jul 2018 22:24:42
Oh yeah lol it’s entertaining. I saw a guy yesterday say there was zero chance he signs here and would bet his house on it. Today he says leafs cheated by giving too much salary bonus vs salary hahaha it’s the same structure as mcdavid, burns, stamkos, doughty and every other superstar signed in the last 2 years.

5.) 02 Jul 2018 06:26:33
Guess I can’t watch Sportsnet or TSN the rest of the summer. How utterly intolerable will that be?! Haha.
I’d imagine Sportsnet especially was quite the circle-j*rk during free agency. Glad I missed it.

Congrats to the leafs (the team), and the few decent fans online (as in, the entire internet) . There are a couple here.

6.) 02 Jul 2018 23:15:15
should be reasonable until training camp opens. but the homerism on the networks and radio was terrible leading up and will only get worse.

its awesome to land such a big fish, but i don't need to hear about it every day until the season.

7.) 03 Jul 2018 12:53:12
This comes up every few months on here. What’s with all the whining about TSN etc. It’s unbelievable. TSN has outlets in every Canadian city that cover those teams. The main hub is obviously in Toronto. Toronto has more pro sports teams than anyone else, they have between 2 and 5 times the population of every other Canadian City besides Montreal that they try to reach. They are a more storied franchise than all but Montreal, and the Habs get as much coverage as the leafs do, but is split in 2 languages so we don’t always notice it nationwide.

Leafs have a bigger fan base, corporate sponsors go to the biggest fan base, broadcasters chase corporate sponsors because their whole revenue is advertising. It’s simple.

It’s like a mariners Fan whining that the Yankees get more coverage than them lol no sh*t! Oilers fans whine about hearing about the leafs, like flames weren’t sick of hearing about Mcdavid nonstop for 2 years?! Get over it.

29 Jun 2018 02:22:09
first i am a leaf fan.

the toronto media are the worst homers in the industry, especially all these no name talk radio idiots just going on and on and on about tavares.

i do not expect the leafs to sign tavares, its a good fit and would make their offense that much better but there needs to be consideration for the future cap needs of this team.

i would take him in a second don't get me wrong, but he's not the biggest need on the leafs, that would be doughty and not happening.

that being sid if he doesn't sign in toronto i hope he goes out west and then the leafs could take a run at a nice short term consolation prize in jumbo joe

tavares doesn't come home, you heard it here first

my prediction is isles, then sj, then tampa.

-ovies hero

1.) 29 Jun 2018 08:35:11
Ya, you’re not a leafs homer. Been around long enough to know that, you’ve got a brain in that head. I sincerely pray Tavares doesn’t sign with the leafs. Zero to do with the team, entirely to do with Toronto media and the leafs herd. It would just be intolerable for years to come. Good god.
I think you know me enough as well to know I’m not a leafs hater but a leafs media/ fan base (the morons) hater.

I hope he signs in NY. Also hope that team skyrockets up the ranks with a new goalie and wins a Cup. They’re overdue and Tavares at the helm for it would be lovely.

2nd choice is SJ. That would be a disgustingly good team up front.

2.) 29 Jun 2018 14:10:00
Don't forget Torontos Sports Network TSN too.

3.) 29 Jun 2018 14:12:18
And I thought all along Tavares was just giving his hometown team the Leafs the ol courtesy interview. Read a report last night that he will give the Isles and answer today if it's going to be them or not and if it's not it could be Toronto or San Jose.

4.) 29 Jun 2018 14:42:25
Didn't hear it here first. heard that often and frequently for a while now - lol.

5.) 29 Jun 2018 16:36:54
Best fit for him would be tampa.

6.) 29 Jun 2018 16:56:16
Agreed with Habby if him, Stamkos and Kucherov sign matching deals 8.5 million they’ll be a dynasty the Golden state warriors of the NHL. Keep in mind it’s an extremely low tax state so 8.5 million there is 10 million in Toronto.

7.) 29 Jun 2018 18:06:50
Whine whine whine about media. Get over it lol.

8.) 29 Jun 2018 18:09:58
I actually think San Jose could be a good fit for him.
Tavares, Pavelski, Couture, Kane, Thornton, Vlasic, Burns. Good support too.
Tampa so stacked tho too.

9.) 29 Jun 2018 19:11:29
If he wants less taxes he will go to tampa or Dallas if he wants to play at home he will go to the leafs if he's loyal he will resign with New York. I don't think there's any chance he goes to boston and eventhough I could potentially see him choosing San Jose I'd be shocked if he actually does with what the other teams could offer.

10.) 29 Jun 2018 20:26:38
I actually disagree with Yupp on San Jose being a good fit, yes they have the cap and a good contending team. But compared to Tampa, Toronto and even Dallas their core is aging. Thortan will retire soon there’s a good chance he won’t even be back next year if Tavares signs, Pavalski is aging/ Regressing And while Burns hasn’t shown any regression it’s bound to happen soon their cup Window is much smaller then Tampa and Toronto.

11.) 29 Jun 2018 20:39:35
Sharks have a great team but their best players, are wrong side of 30, or just about. They have as good of chance as any to win the cup next year and the one after, but if he wants a chance to win every year he’s there, I don’t know. Thornton (39) is clearly at the end, burns (33) vlasic (31) pavelski (34) couture (29) are all going to be productive for another cpl years for sure but with massive long term contracts, it’s only a matter of time before their salaries outweigh their on ice contributions. Meier, hertl, Jones in net and Kane are clearly younger but none of those guys look like they will be the impact players the last core was. Tampa would be a great team, great tax situation and nice city. But I hope of not in Toronto, he’s out west.

12.) 30 Jun 2018 14:47:37
You would disagree with me if I told you the sky was blue. Lol.

13.) 30 Jun 2018 21:42:44
@yup, Actually he says he disagrees with ‘‘yupp’. Unless that’s your burner account and your real name in Bryan collangelo.

14.) 01 Jul 2018 16:33:54
Ya I'm yup and yupp. Yup wasn't working for the longest time. So I made yupp.
And now all of a sudden yup is working because when I log in and type in yupp. It auto corrects to yup I think, and now all of a sudden it's working again and post are going through. It's a little messed up. i'm both. 😳.

15.) 01 Jul 2018 19:54:57
Okay, just don’t get posting on the same thread with both names lol figured you would stick to one if it was working.

16.) 02 Jul 2018 03:09:59
Gotta stop the whining about leafs coverage guys, seriously. TSN has radio stations and outlets in every sports city in Canada and covers their own teams. Is Toronto covered more? Absolutely. Does Toronto have more pro sports teams than everyone else, yes! Does Toronto have between 2 and 5 times the population of every other Canadian NHL besides Montreal that media tries to reach? Yes! Is Toronto a much older and storied franchise than every other Canadian market besides Montreal?! Yes! And Montreal gets as much coverage as the leafs do, but it’s split in 2 languages so we don’t always realize it or appreciate it. This is like the Mariners whining that The Yankees get more coverage. It’s New York and it’s a 100+ year old team, deal with it. Same goes for leafs/ habs in the nhl. 2 biggest cities with the 2 oldest teams. Big markets demand more coverage, then corporate sponsors flock to bigger fan bases, and media (who makes all there money in advertising) follows corporate sponsorship. pretty simple.

nobiasrambo, you lost all credibility when you said white is extremely valuable.

in the real nhl, you don't get riches for rags, unless you're the gm of edmonton, ottawa, who give away riches for rags constantly.

letting him sit is better than over paying him.

hes not an 8 million dollar player, period. he's done nothing to prove he's even as good as pasta (which he isnt) he doesn't deserve more money than pasta.

im pretty sure its his dad whos telling him not to sign.

bugs me because if he really does think he's an 8 milion dollar player, then sign the bridge and bet on yourself.

Im sorry drais. the fact that you put vasilevski above rielly is just ignorant. taking off your lightning bolt shaped glasses for 1 minute to realize its not even close. rielly is blossoming into something special. vas is still a rookie with a very solid team in front of him. yes he's put up good numbers in the khl, world juniors and in the world championship last year, but is a rookie.

jim carey was awesome as a rookie too.

to say he's top 3 right now is a bit of an over statement.
