Apparently, according to Mike Bossy, Tavares turned down his contract extension (84M$).

John Tavares

Alex Galchenyuk
Brendan Gallagher
2nd round pick (2018)
2nd round pick (2019)
Conditional 1st round pick 2019 (If Tavares resigns with MTL)

I'm a die hard jabs fan and you will more than likely have to throw Noah juulsen and it would be a sign and trade for sure Montreal would t give up that much without knowi he's signing or not.

2.) 29 Aug 2017 14:42:15
Throw in juulsen and switch 2nd for first and it would have to be sign trade for Montreal to give up that much.

3.) 29 Aug 2017 19:19:47
Deffinetly a lot to give up. As for adding Juulsen, i'd do my best not to add him. no he's not going to be a superstar. But Habs need all the defensive prospects they need. He will be a solid but not spectacular top 4 IMO.

4.) 29 Aug 2017 22:30:28
Tavares is great but he's not worth all that. Especially with the money he will demand. Habs would have to pay him as much as price. So you'd have three players making 30 mil?
Plus why would he want to go to mtl. They will be in full rebuild mode in 2-3 years if that.

5.) 30 Aug 2017 08:04:25
I'd rather Tavares go to a team like the Canes or Blue Jackets who have actually built properly unlike the Islanders.

6.) 30 Aug 2017 14:43:28
Montreal would be a great fit for Tavares as much as I hate it from a leafs fan. Championships are built off a great goalie, a stud D and a legit top center. That would give habs all of that. As for the money, I've said it before that going forward, every team is going to be paying their best three players 25-30 mill, just reality now. Some teams are going to pay 3 forwards 25+ mill and still have glaring holes in net and on the blue line. Theirs would be 28 mill in the best goalie in the league, a 27 year old superstar center, and a beast of a number 1 Dman who is one of the best leaders in the game. Not a bad way to do it.

7.) 30 Aug 2017 16:13:15
I like the way u put it Jim.

8.) 30 Aug 2017 18:56:32
Thanks Sosa. Ppl got to get past the 10 million dollar player thing because like it's been pointed out, Crosby percentage wise was making the same as mcdavids 12.5 mill. So if penguins had sid, malkin (making even more than sid) and still had letang, fleury, Neal (then hornquist) Kessel etc etc then it can be done. Who wouldn't like their team to have pens success over the past decade? Giving players 10 mill isn't the problem, giving the wrong players that money will kill you tho. I think price and Tavares are about the safest bets you can make to give that kinda cash to at this point.

9.) 30 Aug 2017 23:32:34
That didn't actually happen no numbers have been discussed.

10.) 31 Aug 2017 13:47:03
Depends who you read. Some say numbers weren't discussed, some say numbers came up but weren't the reason for him rejecting. It could have been 12 mill per, but he isn't signing it till they sort out some other things. Could be wrong but I don't buy for a second that you're a cpl weeks away from camp of the final year of your captain/ best players contract, you have been eligible to give him an extension for 3 months and numbers haven't even been discussed at all. I know it's the islanders lol but doesn't seem possible to me.

11.) 31 Aug 2017 17:06:21
There is ZERO chance this happens unless there is an agreement before hand that J. T. signs, and does so simultaneously. And relax, you don't need to through in Juulsen. This is a solif trade for both teams without Juulsen or the 1st rounder.

12.) 03 Sep 2017 14:54:25
After that trade

Sounds stupid, doesn't it. just like the one up top.

Detroit : Gustav Nyquist
Montreal : 2nd 2017, 2nd 2018, Desharnais (cap space, you know it, contract ends in 2017), Brett Lernout

1.) 16 Feb 2017 15:55:41
Not sure that Detroit would bite change Lernott and put JUlsen and it makes sense for both teams.

2.) 17 Feb 2017 03:23:30
Detroit wouldn't accept that for Nyquist.

12 Feb 2017 14:24:39
NYI : Brock Nelson, Jason Chimera
MTL : Mike McCarron, Charlie Lindgren, 2nd round pick, David Desharnais (otherwise mtl is over the salary cap limit, don't worry his contract ends in july)

1.) 12 Feb 2017 15:07:09
Also, that frees up 5M $ to resign Tavares.

2.) 12 Feb 2017 19:27:16
That's actually not bad.

03 Dec 2016 17:52:23
With Tavares MAYBE on the market, I think the habs should try and grab him. Of course, NYI should be getting nhl ready players of impact and prospects for such a trade to happen.

MTL: Pacioretty, Scherbak, Beaulieu, Lindgren, 1st round pick.

NYI: Tavares, Hickey

The Islanders get 2 NHL ready players: Pacioretty is a 35 + goal scorer at 4.5M AAV, Beaulieu is a large improvement over Hickey with a higher offensive ceiling at 1M AAV. They then get a potential top 6 forward, they get a blue chip goalie prospect (really) and a draft pick.

The Canadiens get an elite centerman in Tavares and a bottom pair defenseman who can at times play a second pair role.

1.) 03 Dec 2016 20:21:57
Nah he's signing with the Leafs.

2.) 03 Dec 2016 21:32:53
there are rumor on other sites the Montreal are involve in the Tavares, BUT patch and another piece is what the rumor is , the problem with that, is you need patch to play with Taveres, if you want to contend for a cup, I love gally and would hate to trade him especially in our conference, but it, s going to take something to get him, I think i would rather give my first round this year, and my second round and a beaulieu, and a Carr, you will also need to unload salary to make room for Tavares.

3.) 03 Dec 2016 22:03:46
I would think if the Canadians wanted to get Tavares they would keep Pacioretty so that he would have an elite winger to play with. I mean that would definitely get Tavares, but I don't understand trading Pacioretty away.

4.) 04 Dec 2016 04:18:42
Patches an elite winger hahaha he's on pace for 40 points. He's the worse captain in the league.

05 May 2016 14:55:59
Mtl: Andrighetto + 3rd round pick
Chi: Shaw + 6th round pick.

1.) 05 May 2016 15:58:40
Not terrible.

2.) 05 May 2016 20:18:21
Add desharnais and bickell.

3.) 06 May 2016 15:58:11
**** that 4M contract lmao.

Do the Flames really need anothe center though? I mean they already have a solid 1st line center in Monahan and a solid 2nd center in Backlund.

Barzal's numbers in junior are pretty similar to Galchenyuks. Why overpay for an unproven offensive talent when you already have one 3 years older with a 30 goal season under his belt. People undervalue Galchenyuk so much around here.
