No I agree i think if Canes do this they intend on keeping him. They don’t really like rentals and Don doesn’t like to make moves just for of it.

Its aggressive, but that's what it takes at the deadline. It also seems like something Carolina would do.
As for "sign and trade", that is something that happens in the offseason, not at the fast-moving trade deadline.

MAF doesn’t want to be traded. He’s already settled down, kids in school etc etc. If he’s going to move he wants to go somewhere that’s going to win. Not Toronto.
