Rantanen won't be traded but if he was available he'd fetch more than that in return.
Top 15 player? Not quite but he's a big skilled productive young player just entering his prime who'd be a first line winger on the vast majority of teams. That's worth significantly more than 2nd OA in a draft without a couple outstanding prospects in it. Adding Kevin Bahl doesn't even come close to making up the difference.

I don’t see why either team does it? Anaheim is rebuilding and shouldn’t trade rebuilding assets and NY is contending so shouldn’t trade a solid 2nd line player for 2 potentially good players and a prospect.

Lafreniere won't fetch that much his stock has dropped since he was taken 1st OA. He's probably still worth a 10th OA but not much more than that. Montreal might even pay a bit more for him since he's a Frenchie from a Montreal suburb.

Girard have more value right now than Monahan and Colorado doesn't have enough cap space to acquire Monahan at 6.375 M.
