The whole idea is for the Ducks to make cap space. Not bring in a 30 year old D-man who is an FA this year and is making 2.250 million dollars. They would much rather have Lindholm, even if they can't get him signed yet.

Ducks pass. The closest peice in value to Lindholm is Tarasenko. Obviously that would never happen but just saying. Don't see why Blues would give up assets for another d man either. They need a top line C much more then a top pairing defencemen.

Seems like a pretty good trade to me.
Ducks need to win NOW before Getz, Perry, Kessler, Bieksa's primes are done. so the Shatty upgrade could fit into their plans nicely. St Louis gets a longer term D-man if they can sign the RFA to a reasonable deal.

I feel that the ducks won't want to trade Lindholm because he is their future stud d man. I think that the ducks would want to trade Fowler instead.

I don't think Blues would ever deal Tarasenko for Lindholm, but that's what I'd imagine Ducks ask in return for him. However, not going to happen. No way blues would make that deal.

Bj you wrote that tarasenko is the only player close in value. LindHolm is in a tier below petro and tarasenko is an elite top 5 goal scorer (4th) last year and scored 9 goals 15 points in first two playoff series. Your statement was pretty off. Hence the back lash.
Petro and tarasenko are worth way more than LindHolm.

Because how on earth does Detroit become a better team if they do this trade. Not one player there will improve the wings and they need defense, so why would they trade away one of their top guys, and somebody they got last year through free agency. Like come on you know that's brutal.

I agree Detroit shouldn't be trading defense but Green is not all that anymore IMO. I think it's a brutal trade all around. Taking on Franzen would be awful for any team, not sure Green makes up for that. Most of the players coming from the leafs are serviceable NHLers, but not what the wings need.

Winnipeg wouldn't accept that trade, the jets have no use for kadri, he'd be playing 3rd/ 4th line with the jets. The leafs would have to give up more than kappanan, he hasn't proven much since he's been drafted.

Jets wouldn't want this deal as both players coming back wouldn't help the Jets. Kapanen is a small winger that wouldn't be able to crack the Jets lineup and Kadri would be a #3 center behind Schiefele and Little at best.
