The 1st 2 Defenseman CBJ keeps in the expansion draft are Jones and Savard. Who should the 3rd be, Ryan Murray or Jack Johnson?

1.) 27 Jan 2017 21:36:27
Obviously Murray. That's not even a question.

2.) 27 Jan 2017 21:42:34

3.) 27 Jan 2017 21:44:40
but it was a question.

4.) 28 Jan 2017 01:16:16
Without question Murray

5.) 28 Jan 2017 04:17:29
Johnson is getting old so yea Murray. Imagine Las Vegas getting Murray. What a steal would that be

6.) 28 Jan 2017 04:29:11
Is Tankie a moron?

You see, Tankie, that's another example of a question with an answer that is so obvious it shouldn't need to be asked.

7.) 28 Jan 2017 17:43:10
But he did ask shankar. Just because you and I knew the answer doesn't mean every hockey fan would. But hey keep doing what you do best talk rubbish to people. How's that still living with your mom working out for you

27 Jan 2017 12:13:13
Devils Get: Matt Duchene

Avs Get: Mackenzie Blackwood, 2018 2nd, 2019 1st

1.) 27 Jan 2017 12:49:45
That doesn't get u Duchene

2.) 27 Jan 2017 13:50:58
Not enough value and not the right pieces. They want young D. A young goalie and a cpl picks doesn't help. The deal would start with severson and go from there

3.) 27 Jan 2017 14:13:08
That gets you a day pass with Matt Dushene. Congradulation you can bring him were you want just don't forget to bring him back for 10 he has a practice tmr.

07 Jan 2017 15:48:13

Stars Get: Bishop

Lightning Get: Niemi, Dowling, Honka, Dickinson

SIGN Bishop to 3-year, 20M extension

WHY FOR TB: They get back an experienced goalie who has playoff experience in Niemi, who can start and give you some quality starts if Vasilevskiy is not playing well. They also get back some good prospects for Bishop.

WHY FOR DAL: They get a #1 goalie in Bishop, while moving out Niemi so that they only have 2 goalies on the roster.

1.) 08 Jan 2017 03:28:19
There would have to be a pick as well from Dallas, that's what Stevie Y would want.

2.) 08 Jan 2017 14:14:50
TB does it because the NEED Honka. They don't need a pick to make it happen. Biggest issue to me is Tampa has no cap room for next year and Niemi is still under contract

07 Dec 2016 21:42:46
Caps trade Orlov to Las Vegas for one of their picks

WHY: McPhee is the one who drafted Orlov IN THE 2ND ROUND for god sakes and so he must actually think Orlov is good. Only problem is he isn't so Caps get rid of a crappy d-man and can pick one up with one of Las Vegas's picks. Caps also then make Las Vegas take Orlov from their team, so they kan keep the rest of their great players.

1.) 07 Dec 2016 22:00:19
Don't think a trade cancels outs Vegas taking a player only if Vegas signs a free agent from Washington.

2.) 07 Dec 2016 23:00:05
Whatever. It's still a good idea regardless.

3.) 07 Dec 2016 22:06:00
Lol caps fan, talk about fantasy trades eh?

4.) 08 Dec 2016 12:05:24
Why dies everyone overvalue Orlov? He just makes costly errors like giving the puck up so the other team can score. ALL THE TIME.

5.) 08 Dec 2016 21:35:11
HAHAHA. You're not in the position to be talking to anyone about fantasy trades. You post them daily.

WPG: Fleury
PIT: Hutchinson, Connor, Petan, Dano, 2017 2nd, 2019 1st

WHY FOR WPG: They get a NHL proven goalie who has played big moments and gone deep in the playoffs. The Jets have a great scoring core, but their goaltending hurts them. Get Fleury, score 3/ 4 goals a game, and they will be back in the playoffs. Hellebuyck is also ineligible to be claimed in the expansion draft, so they don't feal losing him. Fleury's value won't be as high because Murray has the #1 job and Fleury will be sitting on the bench most of the season.

WHY FOR PIT: They get a backup who can play some games for you. Although he is eligible for expansion draft, Murray is not so they protect Hutchinson. When Hutch is a UFA at the end of 2017-18, they let him go and then they call up Jarry to be their backup. They also get some top prospects and high draft picks.

1.) 14 Nov 2016 06:44:33
I'm pretty sure both Hellebuyck and Murray have to be protected. Anyways, huge overpayment for Fleury IMO.

2.) 14 Nov 2016 11:51:03
O my God that is utter trash. Fleury wouldn't be able to get Connor alone, and I don't see why Winnipeg would even want him. That already have Hellebuyck.

3.) 14 Nov 2016 11:56:48
No. first and second year players do not count towards their teams protected total.

4.) 14 Nov 2016 12:18:03
Kyle Connor>>>Flury Enough said.

5.) 14 Nov 2016 13:29:41
This is both there 3rd season pro so yeah they have to be protected.

6.) 14 Nov 2016 23:12:27
Well if its their 3rd year pro, great for PIT. They won't lose Hutch. Then Winnepeg figures something out but VB Beuty, get your stupid brain working. Penguins aren't dumb enough to trade Connor for Fleury strait up. Maybe you are though.

7.) 15 Nov 2016 02:27:30
dumbest fake trade posting ever . straight induction into the NTR hall of shame.

01 Dec 2016 22:04:43
What do you guys think the protected list for your favorite team will look like, and who do you think Vegas will select from your team?

Here's mine:

7 forwards: Ovi, Backstrom, Kuzy, Burakovsky, Wilson, Beagle, Eller

Why no Oshie: He is going to be a UFA so he will cost lots of money. LV passes and caps re-sign him.

Why no MoJo: He isn't the best, and even if he gets picked, the caps have some good prospects in Hershey.

3 D-men: Carlson, Schmidt, Niskanen

Why no Orpik: He's getting older, and he isn't doing much these days. LV would love to have him as a defensive d-man though.

Goalie: Obviously Holtby

WHO GETS SELECTED BY LV: I say that the Knights take either Johansson or Grubauer.

1.) 02 Dec 2016 02:42:21
If Johansson is available I see LV selecting him, but if not definitely Grubauer.

2.) 02 Dec 2016 03:27:49
No Orlov?

3.) 02 Dec 2016 05:37:13
You protect beagle? he's a fourth liner i'd rather protect johansen, also Orpik is literally one of the worst defencman in the league on one the worst contracts now, different player than before. LV doesn't go near him with a ten foot pole

also yeah if you expose johansen than he's gone, Grubauer might be taken as well.

4.) 02 Dec 2016 05:48:54
Leafs protection group or whatever

7 Fwrds

3 Dmen

5.) 02 Dec 2016 15:22:04

Yes no Orlov. When watching him all he does is cough the puck up like last night he did it 2 times in the third and NY scored both. Carlson, Schmidt, and Nisky are all better than him

As much as you want to call Beagle a 4th liner, look at what he brings. He is going to be protected.

6.) 02 Dec 2016 19:04:54
Beagle just brings so much energy to the team.

01 Dec 2016 18:50:34
If you had to make an educated guess NOW, what would your Las Vegas Golden Knights unbiased roster look like?

1 from each team. They need:

14 forewards
9 D-men
3 goalies.

1.) 02 Dec 2016 02:51:05
Jenner - Plekanec - Ryan
Pouliot - Killorn - Silfverberg
Beleskey - Jarnkrok - Yakupov
Laughton - Helm - Boucher
F. Hamilton

McNabb - Brodin
Hickey - Klein
Dillon - Petrovic

I only have Murray here just in case the Pens don't trade Fleury and end up losing him. Jenner's here basically because they have 3 terrible NMC on forward (Clarkson, Hartnell, and Dubinsky) so I basically chose Saad, Atkinson, and Wenneberg over Jenner. I think Ryan is there because Ottawa may wanna get outta that contract and keep Marc Methot because he is one of their better d-men. LV would love to get Ryan, who is a big name forward and can bring in the fans.

2.) 02 Dec 2016 14:49:18
Kings lover I think that's pretty similiar to what I have. But no way they let Jenner go. He was or was almost a 30 goal scorer last season. Also silfverberg only goes if they protect 4 D, I think they'll lose Fowler instead. Calgary will lose someone better. Jokipakka. Oil would be lucky to lose Pouliot over Davidson. And Arizona has Goligoski, OEL, Murphy and Stone all ahead of Schenn.

3.) 02 Dec 2016 18:33:12
Ebs, the Oils do the 8-1 protection so they can protect 4 d-men. Davidson, Larsson, Klefbom, and Sekera. Then on forward they can protect Draisaitl, RNH, Lucic, and Eberle.

With Columbus, yeah it basically comes down to Jenner or Atkinson. Both would be incredibly tough to lose for nothing.

All the experts have Silfverberg being left out because Fowler has so much trade value.

And I had Jokipakka its just that u need 20 players to have contracts next season and he did not. Freddie Hamilton did so I just chose him.

4.) 02 Dec 2016 19:06:57
@KingsLover: In that 1st reply, yeah that's definetly 9 D-men. LOOKS MORE LIKE 13 TO ME.

24 Nov 2016 17:57:41
Can we all agree that Michal Neuvirth is a bust? His numbers look like it this year:

3.54 GAA, .859 sv%

He just had one good year last year:

18-8-4, 2.27 GAA, .924 sv%

Besides that season last year, his career numbers are:

70-65-7, about even .90 sv%

And he is a UFA at the end of the year, making 1.625 mil this year

Can we just agree that he is a bust?

1.) 24 Nov 2016 18:12:41
Bust is the wrong term. Career backup? He has stretches where he can play well but isn't consistent enough to be a starter somewhere.

2.) 24 Nov 2016 18:17:08
Lol what was the point if this? Did I miss some argument about how great neuvirth is?

3.) 24 Nov 2016 18:38:11
I'd happily have him over Gustavsson.

4.) 25 Nov 2016 15:14:38
So would I, usually. But he has been horrible this year.

23 Nov 2016 11:55:36
Now that the excitement is over, and the Las Vegas Golden Knights have a name, who do you think will be the most realistic goalie trio (they get to select three goalies) for them?

Here are my predictions:

1. Fleury
2. Howard
3. Chad Johnson.

1.) 23 Nov 2016 12:53:55
I could be wrong, but Johnson is on a 1-year contract so he wouldn't be available for selection? they could sign him as a FA though.

2.) 23 Nov 2016 18:24:47
Rederov is right about Johnson and Flower can't get picked up because he has a no move clause.

3.) 24 Nov 2016 00:37:10
Varlamov, Mason/ Neuvirth, Lack because the lack of players to pick from (no pun intended), Bishop, maybe smith? Third goalie maybe a prospect, Brossoit or Subban.

4.) 24 Nov 2016 03:41:53
Varly will be protected, doubt they take Pickard. Philly will protect Mason, Neuvirth is a bust. He just had a good year last year. Maybe Mike Smith but he gets injures a lot. Lack isn't that good. Definitely Howard/ Mrazek will be in there.

29 Oct 2016 23:41:50
Well, Carey Price is back and better than ever. If he manages to stay healthy the whole season, what do you think his numbers will look like at the end of the year?

Mine are:
60 GP, 33-23-4, 2.15 GAA, .925 sv%, 5 SO

WHY: I don't think they will stretch him out to 65-70 GP for two reasons. 1) he is coming off an injury season. 2) Montoya is an offely trustworthy backup, so I think they could give him 20-25 Games.

1.) 30 Oct 2016 04:47:49
He won't lose 23 games.
If he plays 60.
38 15 7
6 rubbish out.
1 Vezina
Hart battle with McDavid

Also needs Weber to stay healthy.

2.) 30 Oct 2016 05:26:17
Honestly, I think he'll have a GAA under 2.00 and a sv% over .930 so long as the team in front of him doesn't totally go to crap, which is highly unlikely. The guy is simply amazing.

3.) 30 Oct 2016 05:40:34
Not even close. He'll play 61 games and 33-24-4.

Also good luck predicting a goalies stats for the season, you kinda can with skaters but goalies is really a shot in the dark.

4.) 30 Oct 2016 15:03:48
oh man there honestly isn't another player who can dominate a game like Price other than McDavid and maybe Crosby. I don't see him losing 23 games, and I also see him with a g. a. a under 2.00

So I think he goes like this

37-18-6, 1.87 g. a. a, 0.936 sv%, 7 shutouts

and yeah the vezina and possibly the hart

Hate the habs but have to respect him, i'm in awe as a goalie every time I see him play, he's way too calm its scary
I don't see him giving up 4 or more goals all season haha.

5.) 30 Oct 2016 15:43:17
But he won't play more than 60 games, especially with the star status of Montoya. Who agrees?

6.) 30 Oct 2016 16:21:22
It will be close to 60 games. 65 will be the max. Better be. and if i was Bergevin i'd be trying to lock up Montoya to a couple of years. Its nice for Price to have a good capable back up. i'm trying to think if he has had a better back up. Don't think so. Ya can't count Halak as a back up. as Price was young and they more or less shared the role.
With Price the Habs are contenders. so keeping him healthy and not overworked is and has to be priority number one for Montreal. We all know what happens without him.

7.) 30 Oct 2016 19:06:41
I think it will be close to 60 games, but not much more.

8.) 30 Oct 2016 19:21:25
Price is a monster, even if the team goes to crap this guy still puts up a sub .930 sv%.
He is the best goalie they've ever, and that's saying something with names like Dryden, Roy and Plante on that list. The last time a goalie dominated the game like this was when Hasek took the league by storm in the 90's.

9.) 30 Oct 2016 19:38:54
Him and Roy are 1A. and 1B. Roy has the 2 cups, and the 2 Conn Smythes. so. until Price gets that, ill call him 1B. but. in regular season its Price all the way. Plante and Dryden, although great. had 2 of the best Dynasties in professional sport playing in front of them. Good call KingsLover.

10.) 31 Oct 2016 21:47:09
He is an "offely" great goalie.

Whats stupid is that the Leafs trade 2 young talented players, along with crap in Enroth who nobody really wants to start with, and they get back Ladd (who sucks this year), Pulock (who won't get a lineup spot), and Halak who hasn't shown anything this year, so they trade talent for Halak who then gets exposed, and the leafs get screwed because of the trade

Agree with Hurdemz. If you HAD to do it, then you may as well take Morrisey from WPG.

Both teams have had great success recently. You don't trade key players when you are on a roll.
