Kings retain 12mil of the 3yrs left on Kovalchuks Contract which is 4mil for 3yrs.

Don’t want kovalchuk, he would be 4th or 5th maybe 6th down the depth chart of who to go to for offense as where hyman is one of the few players we have that will do dirty work for the skilled players, hometown guy on a good contract who is a favourite of Babcock and a great penalty killer. He would be a bigger part of a playoff run for us than kovy. LA would not retain that kind of money on Kovy Even if they could and they can’t. You’re only allowed to retain a maximum of 50% which would be $3.125mill per year or $9.375 mill total.

Why would Toronto do this? They already have one of the best offences in the league. They are better off trading assets/ spending money on a defenceman.

Kovalchuk is actually doing better than I thought he would.

$6.25 - $4 = $2.25.

I would rather keep Hyman and all the things he brings to the table that Kovalchuk doesn’t. Not to mention the 1st.

Really? I never seen him comment. Just post these crazy trades every day. I guess since he puts them up over and over and over he might actually think they are good trades. I don’t know. There is never any explanation.

Kovy is actually so underrated he has unreal hands and a shot. Almost every game he makes a highlight real play ( Heybarbour) but it leads to nothing. LA is just not the System for him. In A team like Buffalo he’d really excel on the PP and would compliment Eichel or even Middelstad.
