Normally I post strictly Ottawa. But today I was thinking what if?

EDM : Nurse, a 4th round d pick

SJS : Karlsson (2 million retained)

Then

EDM : Nuge, Holloway

OTT : DeBrincat (long term sign and trade), Thompson, Sokolov, and a 3rd round pick in 2024 or 2025

Then

EDM : Yamamoto, Campbell, a 2nd round pick in 2024 or 2025

TOR : Nylander

Edmonton reunites DeBrincat with McDavid and Nylander with Hyman while putting together a pretty nasty pair of Ekholm and Karlsson to boot and filling out a crazy Top 6 unit.

DeBrincat McDavid E. Kane
Nylander Draisaitl Hyman

Ekholm Karlsson.

Why would the leafs want head-case Jack Campbell back when they know better than most what his deficiencies are?

None of these seem very plausible.

2.) 26 Jun 2023 16:22:59
I see yah trying to sneak Campbell in there lol. No from all parties though in regards to the trade. Karlsson had a great year so I doubt you'd get any retention without some better compensation. Nuge also had a great year; he's such an underrated and well rounded player that I imagine the Oilers are going to figure out an extension for him. And the last one is awful for the Leafs lol.

3.) 26 Jun 2023 21:10:52
dont understand the head case comment to be honest. but i guess typical leaf fan bashing a player they lauded when he was on the team. wasnt Campbell's fault the leafs lost in the playoffs.

4.) 27 Jun 2023 01:22:19
BALSAM: hahahaha…I’m no leaf fan…that’s HILARIOUS! ?

Campbell IS a head case…where have you been? He couldn’t deal with losing in the playoffs, losing streaks, etc, needed a lengthy stress leave, etc.

There are many reasons why the leafs didn’t re-sign him, but the guy wasn’t good enough and can’t handle the pressure of being a good NHL starter.

And another rumor I've seen is Columbus interested in moving the 3rd overall this year for Elias Linholm. So seeing how DeBrincat carries similar value to Lindholm here's one

Cbj : 3rd overall

Ott : DeBrincat

Ottawa drafts Mishkov or Fantilli.

Lindholm is an elite 2way c. Debrincat is a goal scoring winger. Value isn't similar. Fantilli is going second, most likely Carlson 3rd. Some experts think the Russian might not even break top 10. if you have a top 3 pick, you'd hope they be in the nhl immediately or 2-3 years. Mishkov is minimum 3 years, then he may want to stay in Russia. So would be a bad trade.

2.) 11 Jun 2023 17:54:08
I'd wager Columbus isn't on DeBrincat's "list".

3.) 19 Jun 2023 22:46:21
Shootsmcgee, that's old news dude for one. Mishkov agent negotiated a loophole recently that allows him to terminate his current contract and jump straight to NHL.

That being said however, even if that didn't happen, that's still NOT how to draft for success. You take the BEST player available if you want to win not the most ready now player. If you have a choice of Ovechkin at 18 years old but can't play for 3 years and Chris Kelly who's ready now, you'd be stupid NOT to take Ovechkin just because you have to wait for him lol.

Furthermore, Ottawa is in a position right now with more than enough talent up front that they not only could afford to wait those 3 years for Mishkov but it would also benefit them to do just that. By that time Giroux contract will be up and being in his twilight years by then will either retire or take a major discount to stay and Mishkov will only be starting his entry level contract by then. Meaning when he is due for that raise, Girouxs current cap will help get him signed. I'd gladly take Mishkov as high as 2nd overall where he should be, I don't care who outside Bedard is available.

Lindholm is an Above Average 2 Way Winger at BEST. DeBrincat is a proven 2 time 40 goal scorer who's more than capable of doing it without a Top 10 player for a linemate. Just never got the chance to build a chemistry with anyone outside 3rd liners and rookies in Ottawa. Had Norris not been out all year he would have gotten there a 3rd time most likely. So yeah, DeBrincat absolutely carries a much greater value than Lindholm as far as I'm concerned.

Seeing a bunch of crazy rumors suggesting Moritz Seider is available and how he may be traded for Nylander straight up so thought I'd post a better offer here as a double sign and trade with Ottawa

Det : Seider

Ott : DeBrincat

Ottawas improves blueline to make playoff push.

Chabot Seider
Sanderson Chychrun
Branstrom Zub

And Detroit adds a Proven 40 goal scorer to play with Larkin and Raymond.

DeBrincat + for Seider. Nice if it did happen, though. Ottawa still needs a goalie.

2.) 11 Jun 2023 19:21:38
Never will happen Sieder will be part of Det. Core.

? No Homer Trades.

3.) 18 Jun 2023 01:35:35
You’re adding multiple pieces if you want Seider. Given his age, accomplishments, position, and contract he is as untouchable as it gets.

4.) 19 Jun 2023 22:54:17
989coach507 DeBrincat is young still too and carries a very nice array of accomplishments himself dude. Including 2 40 goal seasons. Dude ain't no slouch. Maybe Ottawa can add a future 2nd rounder or Gambrell or Kelly or at best, Formenton. But that's all that they would need to add here.

Seebass2011 Ottawa has 5 to 6 goalies now who are more than capable. They need a Top 2 RH RD, or a replacement Top 6 Forward who can pick up where DeBrincat left off, or a Top 5 pick they can get someone like Michkov with. Goalies are a non issue in Ottawa. Kid Goalies got them from within 20+ points of playoffs to within 6 points of playoffs with an extremely depleted team in front of them. They are ready.

Change that 1st to Detroits 1st Top 10, and the 4th to a 2nd at worst and the conversation can at least get started. As is though, that's nowhere near enough for a 2 time 40 goal scorer like DeBrincat who most likely would take a hometown discount to stay long term with his childhood favorite team.

They either give up their 1st + or they do a straight up swap for Seider, or they give Raymond and a smaller peice or 2.

You can't expect a high end player like DeBrincat for peanuts and projects, it don't work like that.

Has to be a Detroit involved, NOT a 2nd. DeBrincat carries way too much value to get that little in return. Wallander is OK but he ain't enough to tip the scales. Not even close. DeBrincat is a 2 time 40 goal scorer and had Ottawa stayed healthy and he got the chance to play all year with Norris or Stutzle like he was brought in to do, and had Ottawa got Chychrun sooner instead of wasting minutes on Holden and Zaitsev, he'd likely be a 3 time 40 goal scorer.
