Considering both wants and needs for Toronto and San Jose, I am not going to trade fantasy, but more realistic style.

Toronto trades:

Trading rights to RFA Jonathan Bernier
Toronto Needs - Forward Prospects, D Prospects.

San Jose trades:

Trading rights to UFA Antti Niemi
Either a pick(which Sharks drastically need)
Or Jeremy Langlois, Petter Emanuelsson

But the Sharks cannot offer their upper ended prospects, as that already tears into there ever so weak talent pool, not weak just not highly sought after without giving up the top prospects, there's a big gap between 1 and 2 draft rounds, to 3-7. We have good players from draft 1-2, but 3-7 is weak.

Please tell me why the Leafs do this?

2.) 16 Jun 2015 20:17:47
No from Toronto - Bernier is much younger and has a much higher ceiling. The lower tier prospects will not make up the difference. Niemi is a UFA and will walk anyway.

3.) 16 Jun 2015 21:42:15
This is a new one! Trading for an UNRESTRICTED free agents "rights". Lol. Now I've seen it all.

4.) 16 Jun 2015 22:38:26
Bahaha it would take more than two no name prospect and UFA rights to get Bernier. What about Goodrow, Chartier and a 2nd for Bernier?

5.) 17 Jun 2015 19:20:27
Didn't we trade for Niktins Ufa rights?

NYR: Cameron Talbot

SJ: 2016 3rd Rnd pick

Hockey24

1.) 24 May 2015 00:35:26
Not even close for Talbot

2.) 24 May 2015 00:46:57
lol ya if Talbot could be had for a third about 20 teams would offer that he's worth a Good 2nd and a decent prospect or a second in 2016
For SJ think Gobolin and a 2016 3rd?

3.) 24 May 2015 01:03:37
not to sure on how to value Talbot as he had one of the best defences in the NHL in front of him, however I'm sure its worth more then a 3rd

4.) 24 May 2015 04:51:37
I'm sure EDM would offer up more for Talbot. If they are interested in Talbot that is.

5.) 25 May 2015 06:37:28
Oilers will go for him for sure. Offer them montreal's 2nd. If needed oilers 2nd (#33). I think that is a bit too much.

Hear me out, first time doing this. Few different scenarios.

SJ: Compensation pick from Todd (EDM 3rd)

NSH: Trading rights for Cody Franson

Resign Nemo 1yr 3mil

Or

BOS: Milan Lucic (Contract ends next year)
Bostons 3rd Rnd Pick

SJ: 2015 2nd Rnd (39th), 2015 3rd Rnd (Compensation pick from EDM), Mirco Mueller or Chris Tierney, 2016 2nd Rnd Pick

Or
(Long Shot)

WSH: Trading rights of Mike Green

SJ: Compensation 2nd or 3rd from EDM

Suggestions? No go? Possibilities?

Edm can give you a pick in any of the next three years draft, haven't heard anyhitng yet when they will do it.
To me that's an underpayment for Lucic, IF he is up for trade he would be very sought after but many teams and Boston could probably get more for him then just a bunch of picks bascially. And not even a 1st rounder included in your proposal, they say no thanks. Say the two thirds cancel each other out, I don't beleive they trade him for two 2nds and a prospect. I forget who got two 2nds, Glencross I think? If he got that then Lucic gets more, and Glencross is a UFA!

2.) 23 May 2015 12:33:42
Yeah that makes sense. I remember reading a more suitable trade would be a 1st or 2nd, with a prospect, and Tommy Wingels was a rumor. Gives Boston a good winger, prospect, and later potential. However it all depends on the needs.

Now I know Edm and Tor are very passionate, but WHY are 50% of trades coming from Edm?!
Yeah they have value, be realistic with the trades, It's called rumors, not fantasies.

Edmonton desperatley needs good checking lines, defense, almost like what Chi has, now before you get mad, i'm not saying keith, seabrook, I mean good established D, and some hard fighting 3rd and 4th lines that can score. Edm can be a decent team if they fit the pieces right and don't apply too much glueto the frame.

Hockey24

1.) 26 May 2015 03:39:54
Edmontons 4th line gets like 10-14 minutes a game so that's a strong spot. Now 2nd and 3rd line have sucked for years.

I don't think markstrom is worth 3 picks, and even though he's worth the second, the Sharks NEED to be drafting the next few years. So picks are going to have to be worth more than normal. I don't know too much on Markstrom, we might resign Niemi for 1 yr for trade deadline or for a playoff run. If not, I'd give you 2017 2nd pick for Markstrom. Seems a bit low? Even though I don't think he has value atm. I feel a 3rd is cheap and a 2nd is too much.

Well, I believe that these are some huge pieces we are missing, some grit and scoring ability. And although I wouldn't mind seeing these guys on the Sharks. We are building around Pavelski and Couture. When we traded for travis moen, he gave us a nice spark, so Montreal has what we need. Just can't be the core unless we get something of core value back. As for the actual trade, it fits both teams rather well, but that first round won't helo the core, but the future.

I think Sharp is worth a bit more, but definitely will be on one of the teams that make a deep playoff run.

More suitable for Montreal than Carolina. However Staal might wanna refresh his career. and if not, his 9 mil will be going down to about 6-6.5 mil. So wait until trade deadline or something along those lines
