Toronto: Justin Faulk

Carolina: Jake Gardiner

Both players are incredibly similar to one another and often show signs of offensive brilliance with many defensive blunders thrown in. They are roughly the same age and after next season Gardiner will be looking for a contract similar to Faulks existing one. Gardiners has certainly been the better player over the past couple seasons offensively and defensively especially in regards to Corsi and other related advances stats. The Maple Leafs essentially make a lateral move to strengthen the right side since their left side is capable enough with the emergence of Travis Dermott.

Toronto: Radko Gudas

Philadelphia: Andrew Nielsen, 2019 2nd round pick

Toronto makes another addition to their right side, essentially filling it out and making it miles more stable than last year. Philly gets much needed cap relief and can afford to move Gudas with the logjam of young upcoming defensemen in Philly. Babcock gets his Polak replacement who does all the same things but better.

Rielly - Faulk

Dermott - Gudas

Borgman - Zaitsev.

1.) 04 Jun 2018 05:44:57
So easy no from Carolina.

2.) 04 Jun 2018 13:18:18
Carolina takes that and runs Gardiner out produced their best offensive player ( Skinner 48 points ) as a dman ( 52 points) Faulk is so overrated Carolina can keep him I’ll even take Ziatsev over him.

3.) 04 Jun 2018 16:41:09
This Gardiner vs Faulk thing is getting old lol. I’d take Gardiner with a bit of bias but others can make a case for Faulk that I don’t think is really wrong either. Saying that, leafs take this trade because it gives them a stronger R side and another year before a big raise (Faulk ufa 2020/ Gardiner 2019). But Carolina doesn’t need another D coming back. Gardiner would be Beijing hanifin, pesce ans slavin. If trading Faulk it’s for a producing F.

Some moves that might actually make Edmonton a respectable franchise again. (probably not though)

Trade 1

Edmonton: Jordan Eberle, Brandon Davidson, 2016 32nd overall pick

Winnipeg: Jacob Trouba

Gives Edmonton a legit young defenseman which they don't have anywhere.

Edmonton then proceeds to sign Trouba 8 years 7 Million per year

Trade 2

Edmonton: Ryan Nugent Hopkins, Griffin Reinhart, 2016 63rd overall pick

Carolina: Justin Faulk

Edmonton gets another real defenseman for their team, while not really sacrificing too much. Reinhart really looks like he will be a bust, and the Nuge has been sub-par, slightly above league average but nothing to drool over. He was a very mediocre 1st overall pick, but perhaps that has everything to do with Edmonton's poor managerial and developmental staff.

Trade 3

Edmonton: Nail Yakupov, Anton Sleyshev 2017 conditional 3rd

Dallas: Radek Faksa, Patrick Nemeth, Joseph Cecconi

Again, Nail Yakupov has been single handedly the worst 1st overall pick in over a decade, if not closer to 15 years, which is incredibly embarrassing to say the least. However, I don't blame him entirely. I will chalk it up again to Edmontons elementary grade developmental and coaching staff that has taken a toll on him drastically. More than likely he will shine on a team that knows what they're doing. In the meantime, Edmonton acquires some B level prospects that can turn out to be serviceable bottom 6 players in the future (IF Edmonton doesn't ruin them)

Anyways, I know it will be possibly the greatest challenge in the history of the NHL to turn around this lacklustre franchise, but if the Leafs could turn from one of the worst, to one of the best run (from management to coach) in a few short years, maybe Edmonton can do it in maybe 5-8 years.

Hall - McDavid - Maroon
Pouliot - Draisaitl - Kassian
Hendricks - Lander - Korpikoski
Gazdic - Letestu - Pakarinen

Klefbom - Faulk
Sekera - Trouba
Ference - Fayne

1.) 16 Jun 2016 04:42:52
Holy that Trouba trade is god awful and then the contract for him is even worse hahahaha. And that's the worst lineup Iv seen in any Oilers proposals my god man. Only decent one is Faulk. Third one I'm not commenting on because i think it's pointless.

2.) 16 Jun 2016 05:38:13
Trouba trade is terrible.
And that bottom six is still terrible!
Ference and Fayne will not be a pairing next year.
And Faulk isn't available.
The more I read the the worse it gets all around.

3.) 16 Jun 2016 08:11:00
Trouba trade is horrid for Edmonton.
Yak trade is bad for Dallas.
Carolina is closest but even that is a bit of an overpayment by Edm.

4.) 16 Jun 2016 09:13:10
Pretty bad proposals all around. Oil can't sign trouba for 8 years (7max) let alone not going to pay him 7 mil per and not going to have ference and fayne as a pair next year. Pretty bad lineup other than oil top 4 D.

5.) 16 Jun 2016 13:03:35
Trouba is an above average defenseman but is not worth that kind of money. Yes he would be able to be signed for 8 years if he was trade to Edm. 1st (Hall4captain) .
The lineup looks worse than what Oilers existing lineup is if that is even possible.

6.) 16 Jun 2016 14:08:35
Why did you propose the Faulk trade if you state in the reasoning the exact reasons why it is awful for Carolina.

18 Feb 2016 21:16:10
Toronto: Matt Murray----OR-----2016 2nd round pick

Pittsburgh: Roman Polak

Polak is just what PITS needs for their playoff push and will undoubtedly help them into the later rounds of the playoffs with his reliable and physical play.

Toronto needs a goalie for the future. The way I see it, is that Toronto could acquire Murray, a seemingly solid goalie putting up good numbers in the AHL and is still very young.

If PITS doesn't want to surrender Murray, Toronto uses the 2nd round pick to draft (G) Carter Hart (the number 1 ranked Goalie in the draft)

Either way, Jimmy and Berns aren't cutting it for TO and we are in dire need of some decent goaltending for the future.

1.) 18 Feb 2016 22:35:19
Reims is playing well don't know what planet your on.

2.) 18 Feb 2016 22:54:04
Matt Murray is untouchable.

3.) 18 Feb 2016 22:56:34
Polak is a good d but I do not think he would garner one of pitts good goaltending prospects with a one for one deal.

4.) 18 Feb 2016 23:00:28
I don't see Penguins moving their goalie of the future in Murray and can't see him being moved for just 1 half season with Polak.

5.) 18 Feb 2016 23:16:46
I'm a leaf fan. I would love this move but I doubt pit trades their goalie of the future for a rental 3rd line defenseman. Leafs add and it's a deal!

6.) 19 Feb 2016 00:05:16
We don't need Polak he is a terrible defenseman, basically a physical Scuderi. Murray is also untouchable, he will be our starter in the next few years. If Murray ever gets traded it won't be for a terrible rental player..

7.) 19 Feb 2016 02:33:56
tor has sparks and bibeau and the marlies are in first place all year why would we need another goalie.

8.) 19 Feb 2016 15:12:49
Polak is not terrible, he will be traded before the deadline to a contending team. Wouldn't happen if he didn't have value.

15 Dec 2015 23:48:01
Just a thought that came to mind.

Toronto: Jimmy Howard

Detroit: Dion Phaneuf

Obviously there may be pieces going back either way but Detroit showed serious interest last season for Dion.

Howard, although being a legit number 1, has been edged out by Mrazek and has taken a back seat in DET.

Contract wise, Howard is 5.3M against the cap until 2018-19 whereas Phaneuf is 7M against the cap until 2021.

This saves Toronto 2 years and 1.7M in space per year.

This allows Detroit to strengthen their shaky blue line with a player who has seemingly had success under the Detroit system.

On the other hand, this creates flexibility for the Leafs to move out Bernier and Reimer while solidifying a position of need that they haven't had since Belfour.

Could this work? both seem to be untradebale right now and its a move that addresses both teams needs.

1.) 16 Dec 2015 01:22:30
No from the Leafs, hate all you want Reimer-Sparks is fine and Phaneuf is having his best season in his career.

2.) 16 Dec 2015 02:16:41
what the H? red Wings do NOT need or want Phaneuf anymore, they went and got Green instead. And aren't Leafs fans over the moon about Reimer? Why would you want Howard?
Detriot says no way.

3.) 16 Dec 2015 16:32:02
I can't see DET letting Howard rot away playing 25 games per year until his contract expires. By sitting his value is diminishing day by day but he is still a quality goaltender nonetheless. Phaneufs value has gone up (albeit slightly, but still gone up) to the point where it probably wouldn't be that far off value wise. Sure, DET got Green but he hasn't done anything really in the first 25 games. And after Kronwall and Green, DET has virtually nothing great on D. Some prospects are coming up and playing but no legitimate solid top 3 defenseman on that team.

And by the way, not a reimer fan. Never have been. Sparks is too early to judge, but I don't predict anything more than a decent back-up.

And read the 2nd line. pieces going back and forth to even out the trade. I was just coming up with a base for a trade.

4.) 17 Dec 2015 02:05:24
Well the base for the trade isn't realistic in any way. Det has zero interest in Phaneuf anymore, they have Green now instead and no body wants that contract. No matter how you try to spin it, Detriot laughs at this base trade.

5.) 18 Dec 2015 19:48:19
Howard lost his job because of his average play. Leafs have enough average goaltending, and not at 5.4 per.

HF Boards: Boris Bagel, russian tank, piccante1, MontrealsFinest

NHL-trade-rumours: The crust off a 2 week old peanut butter sandwich.

I know HF boards is over paying here but I think it might go through if we can sweet talk them.

1.) 10 Dec 2015 16:24:07
@stammer2leafs, the only reason we don't put a leafs fan vote is because tyou guys took it to another extreme and the site was forced to make a leafs thread because of the nonsense, like your name says it all.

2.) 10 Dec 2015 17:36:24
Comparably, your posts are much worse than anything stammer has ever said or his username.

3.) 10 Dec 2015 18:08:58
I'd wouldn't trade any of them. We need a good laugh every once in a while.

4.) 10 Dec 2015 18:39:54
Montrealsfinest carries a 8 millions cap hit so this deal wouldn't work.

5.) 10 Dec 2015 20:36:10
wow 8 mil? got to be the worst contract on the forum.

6.) 10 Dec 2015 20:56:47
Shankar why is it your comments always put people down. Are you a nhl GM?

7.) 10 Dec 2015 22:34:22
Well for 1 they don't always do (see my 1st comment here, nice comment there :D), but the ones that do are pretty deserving. Like are de la rose, tinord, BUF's 2nd and DSP really going to get MTL Kopitar or even e. staal?

and yes, i am a nhl gm and i get my trade offer ideas from here. needless to say, most other teams flush my call to some random intern when i call.

Toronto - Mike Green

Detroit - Josh Leivo, Calle Rosen and Toronto’s 2018 2nd round pick

Toronto - Radko Gudas

Philadelphia - Nikita Soshnikov and San Jose 2018 2nd round pick

Toronto upgrades the back end without destroying their existing roster

Reilly Green

Gardiner Gudas

Dermott Zaitsev

1.) 13 Feb 2018 22:24:45
Don’t want Gudas anywhere near this team lol I know guys battle and even fight guys around the league and then can laugh about it when they end up on the same team and put it behind them. However I find it hard to believe that many players anywhere in the league have any respect for Gudas. I know I have played against guys with his mentality and I respect guys that play tough and hard, but could never respect a guy like him as a fellow player or a fan.

And I like green, could be interesting, just not sure he’s really what we need. I could see him playing the Right side third pair beside dermott and then getting PP time, just don’t think he makes our top 4 better considering our issue is defending not scoring.

09 Dec 2015 18:04:35
HF Boards: Boris Bagel, russian tank, piccante1, MontrealsFinest

NHL-trade-rumours: future considerations

Let's make this happen!

1.) 09 Dec 2015 18:46:23
noo, plese no. they're great for entertainment.

2.) 10 Dec 2015 04:51:49
Hahaha no from NHL-trade-rumors. coom
MF and Boris are both elite talents and Russian Tank looks like a promising prospect.

25 Aug 2015 17:26:54
Giordano signs 6yr/ 40.5 million extension.

6.75 AAV

and some people actually thought he would get 8M+?!

anyway, good signing.

1.) 25 Aug 2015 20:21:09
Wow his agent should be banned from professional sports

2.) 26 Aug 2015 00:07:53
He's old, he was lucky to get 6 years. I think it's reasonable. If he had his skill but 5 years younger he might have gotten 2 years 2 million more.

3.) 26 Aug 2015 01:34:26
I feel bad for Giordano.

4.) 26 Aug 2015 04:35:21
no vbbbvvbb, he should not. you do realise gio will be 33 by the time the deal starts ad that it runs through his age 39 seaason, right? if it was 3 years, then sure, give him 9 per. sure, maybe he could have gotten a couple mil more over the term of the deal had he went to ufa after another good season, but that's only if he had another very good year and maybe he likes CGY, some guys aren't all about the money nd once you get to a certain level an extra couple hundred thousand a year doesn't make a tangible difference anyways (not that I know from experience but it seems obvious enough haha).

5.) 26 Aug 2015 11:10:30
While it might be somewhat accurate, I'm 100% sure he woulda gotten a lot more in FA. Sure took a little discount for Calgary.
Compared to Phaneufs 7 and Subbans 9m, this 6.5m per looks a little weird.

6.) 26 Aug 2015 15:53:43
I think Calgarys GM is front runner for GM of the year. nice to see a good deal in the NHL for once. with the Hamilton trade. and this signing. Think he's done a pretty good job in Calgary.

7.) 27 Aug 2015 07:12:02
Giordano just received a quality contract to head up the Flames D -- arguably the best D core in the NHL at the moment --, a contract that will likely keep him in the city he began in and will end his career in, a contract that allows his team room to build around him and become a respectable playoff team for years to come, and NN21 feels sorry for him?

Where is your head? If anything, he probably welcomed a minor pay cut in order to stick with an organization that is getting their stuff together in tidy fashion and could be a force in a couple years. Better signing on for a little cheaper than bouncing around the NHL for the rest of his career in hopes that he wins the cup as a 13min bottom-2 dman when he is 36 years old. Gimme a break

10 Jul 2015 16:45:55
Leafs are in a position to maximize their assets this trade deadline. With the amount of 1 year deals they have, surely a great number of draft picks will be the end goal for these players. All of these assumptions are conditional on how good these guys play throughout the year obviously.

Spaling - 2nd or 3rd
Acrobello - 2nd or 3rd
Polak - 2nd or 3rd
Robidas - 5th or 6th
Mathias - 2nd or 3rd
Winnik - 2nd or 3rd
Parenteau - 2nd or 3rd
Marincin - 3rd
Frattin - 3rd

Lupul and Bozak will be traded before hand probably for a 2nd/3rd too.

The leafs could walk into next years draft with around 20 picks (they already have 12 I believe)

1.) 10 Jul 2015 18:46:44
Marincin is probably the only accurate one there. He should land a 3rd or more if he has a good year.

2.) 10 Jul 2015 19:14:34
Why is Marincin the only accurate one? Is that because he's an ex oiler? Polak, Winnik & Bozak should easily get a 3rd, if not more. Didn't Winnik just get a 2nd a few months ago? I've noticed from all your comments you're a leaf hater. It's warping your judgement on good role players every team looks for come playoff time. Personally I'd like to see them keep Bozak. His contract isn't that bad. He wins draws and kills penalties. As a #2 center, I'd like to see how he does without Kessel

3.) 11 Jul 2015 00:10:04
As of right now barring any trades this is what the leafs lineup looks like

JVR Kadri Parentau
Lupul Bozak Arcobello
Komarov Holland Winnik
Spalling Mathias Panick

Rielly Phaneuf
Gardiner Polak
Hunwick Marincin/Robidas

Bernier Reimer

They're going to suck and pretty much be a lock for a lottery pick but they should at least be bearable to watch especially under Babcock and + they'll be able to role 4 lines and give the prospects more time to develop which is an added bonus.

4.) 11 Jul 2015 02:15:26
Arcobello is an ex oiler and he isn't get a 2nd. Buuut trade deadline they'll get more than there worth so maaaybe some of these players land 2nds.

5.) 11 Jul 2015 02:36:42
Just because someone doesn't agree with the value of leaf players doesn't make them a "leaf hater" and almost all of those players are aging whereas Marincin/Spaling/Arcobello are young and ready to prove themselves. Considering Toronto won't be the best next year the older players values could drop just because the team surrounding them won't be that good. Anyway if the leafs deal half of these players for picks at the deadline next year it will just be another win in their rebuilding phase.

6.) 11 Jul 2015 06:21:42
Ahaha actually there are all worth 5 round pics exept mathias who worth a three

The same guys that were saying parenteau is crap Now say is worth a 2 come on men! Parenteau did not even get claim

7.) 11 Jul 2015 09:17:38
^because of his old contract, genius.

8.) 11 Jul 2015 12:56:00
Yeah but parenteau still is no good! Third Line winger not a first Line winger

9.) 11 Jul 2015 16:58:05
I think every coach knows what Winnik & Polak bring to the table whether the team around them sucks or not. Am I wrong, wasn't it a 2nd Winnik got a few months back?

01 Jul 2015 19:06:17
Kessel (1.25M retained)

Not too bad. I think the Leafs couldve got more. Would've liked to see Sutter instead of Spaling and then I wouldve be a lot more happier.

At least Phil gets to play with a true centre now (not to mention the best player in the world)

I could see Phil scoring 45+ this year.

1.) 01 Jul 2015 20:02:40
from a Bruins fan I don't think its that bad of a return, obviously Pouliot/Maata would have been great but you can only work with so much and with teams Kessel submitted a trade to they did a decent job at getting a reasonable return

2.) 01 Jul 2015 23:36:07
I dunno. Kessel is a proven player. these other guys aren't. So hopefully for the Leafs. These guys pan out. I honestly think Kessel now had Richard trophy potential. He doesn't need to lead. He's not the main guy. either Crosby or Malkin are his set up guy. he was a 35+ with Bozak. and all the T.O pressure. I'm not a fan of this guy. but I think now he can jus go play. I think huge benefit for him and the Penguins. Leafs really shoulda got Sutter. So in my opinion. step back for the Leafs. I guess Paranteau is going to score the goals now? Lol

People forget that Marner had 2 goals in the first 34 games of this season. He scored 20 in the remaining 48 games after being put on a line with Marleau and Kadri in January. For the final 48 games and into the playoffs, Marner was by far the leafs most dangerous player and showed himself to be a big game player. He elevates the production of his line mates to another level. Ex, before playing with a Marner, Kadri was on a 21 game goalless drought. He still finished the season with 32 goals. That’s how good Marner is. Matthews is still another tier ahead of him, but at this point Marner has shown to be another level higher than Nylander, who is still very talented as well.

Vancouver definitely missed the boat to capitalize on Tanev when his value was at his highest. He’s a pretty good defenseman, but his injury history leaves a lot of doubt for those inquiring about him. Personally I wouldn’t risk a 1st rounder on him but that’s just me. Plenty of better alternatives that you can use a 1st round pick on.
