Some Reinhart trades:

1) EDM- Reinhart
CBJ- Rychel

2) EDM- Yakupov, Reinhart, Nilsson
FLA- Gudbranson, Howden

3) EDM- Eberle, Reinhart
WPG- Myers, Lowry

4) EDM- Reinhart, 2016 1st
COL- Barrie, 2017 1st.

1.) 26 Feb 2016 05:12:32
Somebody doesn't like Reinhart.

2.) 26 Feb 2016 05:18:11
Haha I don't know, I don't mind him. He's big but slow and still has some developing to do. I just think Davidson stole his spot. I'd be happy if we kept him but I think he's expandable.

3.) 26 Feb 2016 08:03:29
Props to chirps, you're not insane like most dudes on this site, most always I agree.

4.) 26 Feb 2016 10:37:32
With the Barrie trade, as an RFA getting a substantial raise, overall, it's not fair. The Oilers would love to have a player like that, but if it's a top 3 pick. alone, the value would be close to Barrie, but adding a defenseman, who was a former 4th Overall pick for a 2017 draft pick from Colorado is unnessary, unless they wanted Reinhart . If the big trade chip for both sides was a top 3 pick for Barrie, I think Edmonton wouldn't have to do much more than offer a B-prospect defenseman like David Musil or Martin Gernat, Brad Hunt. Etc.

5.) 26 Feb 2016 15:25:19
I will trade you Nothing for reinhart.

6.) 26 Feb 2016 15:38:31
thanks for that tidbit of info, russiantank.

7.) 26 Feb 2016 16:48:14
Shootsmcgee what exactly are you agreeing with?

8.) 26 Feb 2016 19:57:55
He has good comments, not clearly insane like colt55.

9.) 26 Feb 2016 21:08:02
So bottom line I'm not totally crazy? Anyone else like the Rychel one?

25 Feb 2016 20:53:43
EDM- Schultz (Retained), 3rd 2016
TB- Gudlevskis.

Oilers_11

1.) 25 Feb 2016 22:25:31
Schultz is hard to judge. Some have said he has negative value. At best he doest have much. Gudilevskis has proven he can play games at the nhl level and projects to be a starter but will never be a superstar. I think he's better than he's given credit for just because he's buried behind Bishop/ Vasilevski.

2.) 26 Feb 2016 01:16:19
Originally I had a 2nd going to Tampa but I feel like that's too much. Schultz is still a good skating, puck moving, youngish right handed defense. But yeah his value is hard to judge.

24 Feb 2016 21:05:49
FLA- Gudbranson, Pirri, 3rd
EDM- Yakupov, Nilsson, Schultz, 2nd

My main thought was Yak for Gudbrandon. Thoughts on that? I then added Pirri because he's rumoured to be expandable and Nilsson because he's showed promise this year and Florida is going to need a goalie soon. Schultz and the pick could be used to land Ladd.

Oilers_11

1.) 24 Feb 2016 21:12:05
Awful, just awful.

2.) 24 Feb 2016 21:18:13
Not enough from Edmonton.

3.) 24 Feb 2016 21:26:13
Big time no from Florida.

4.) 24 Feb 2016 23:33:37
Okay bad trade. But Yakupov and Nilsson would be pieces they'd like no?

5.) 25 Feb 2016 01:11:09
@Oilers_11
Why? Yak has 5 goals and Nilsson had a great stretch for a while, but now he's in the AHL. Montoya is a better bet.

6.) 25 Feb 2016 01:35:30
Same reason why you'd give value for Drouin. And Nilsson is back up isn't he? I did think Montoya was older. I have to agree with you guys though just isn't enough for Florida to want.

Is Gudbranson expandable though? They have Ekblad and Petrovic as righties and Kulikov on the left. I changed it up a bit and might post it 😁.

22 Feb 2016 21:06:54
CGY- Russel
PIT- Murray

I'm kinda thinking the Penguins would need to add a pick. Thoughts?

Oilers_11

1.) 22 Feb 2016 21:39:39
Not that that value isn't there but no from Pitts.

2.) 22 Feb 2016 21:58:52
Penguins have said they will not be trading Murray.

3.) 22 Feb 2016 23:28:29
Murray is a solid goalie prospect and their farm team starter if I remember correct. Trading him for a UFA would be a bad idea in my opinion.

17 Feb 2016 16:23:24
EDM- Anders Nilsson
SJS- Melker Karlsson

San Jose needs a back up and Nilsson mostly played good for us but LB should be on the team next year.
Not sure if Nilsson could get Karlsson or if the Oil would want him so he's kinda interchangeable.

Oilers_11

1.) 17 Feb 2016 19:11:41
Stalock?

2.) 18 Feb 2016 11:22:49
Rumour is Stalock isn't getting the job done. Just thought Nilsson would be a good fit.

29 Feb 2016 17:49:24
Davidson or Beaulieu?

Oilers_11

1.) 29 Feb 2016 19:28:14
Too hard to say right now. It would just be personal biased who ever you pick.

2.) 01 Mar 2016 04:58:57
Agree that anyone's choice would be biased, but extending Davidson at that meager price given how well he has played (especially lately) is just plain fantastic. Fingers crossed he doesn't pull an "Oiler" and completely nosedive next season. At least if he does he is super cheap.

14 Feb 2016 16:40:17
If the league were to expand how do they make up the rosters? 🙃 thought I'd ask you guys instead of trying to google it.

Oilers_11

1.) 14 Feb 2016 17:43:53
As far as I know they haven't decided how it would work
But most likely you'll be able to protect so many roster players. Probably they would specify specifics for forward and defence. So many prospects. And same for goalies.

No one is sure how nmc or ntc would work. Can the player ask to be unprotected do they have a say on if they can be unprotected. Who knows.

2.) 14 Feb 2016 17:48:25
expansion draft. goes something along the lines of each team can protect a certain amount of players, and the expansion teams alternate chosing players from the other 30 teams that are not protected by them. essentially, they get to choose and make a team up of bottom 6 forwards and 5/ 6 defencemen.

thats a really dumbed down version, but its essentially how it works.

3.) 14 Feb 2016 18:11:37
So there going to be awful when the first get into the league?

4.) 14 Feb 2016 18:30:50
Bad contracts and old players mostly.

5.) 14 Feb 2016 18:31:40
yup, all expansion teams are absolutely brutal at the beginning.

and the ntc/ nmc thing is interesting, never thought about how that'd work.

i'd assume NTCs wouldn't play a role since the player isn't being traded. NMCs seem more complex, since it specifies they cannot be moved at all. I'd asume a possible solution would be to say those with NMCs have to be part of those in a team's protected pool of players even if they don't really want to protect them. sort of serves a punishment for giving them out to players not worthy of them haha.

6.) 15 Feb 2016 02:13:55
Shankar knows his shiz.
He's right about how it essentially works. I'm not sure about how NMC/ NTC's would work, that was actually something brought up in the media when talk of Seattle/ Vegas/ Quebec was starting to get legs. It's a new aspect of expansion that isn't really set out in the CBA so the league will need to establish new rules as to how to go about handling that situation and be NHLPA will have to agree to it. While it won't be a roadblock for expansion, I can see it being a headache and could delay it for a while.

But the basic idea Shanky spoke of is correct. Every team is allowed to protect a certain number of players in each position and the other players are up for what is basically an expansion draft. Each team will get to cherry pick from the unprotected players in order to build their team from scratch. And, yes, that's why expansion teams start out so poorly, because they are choosing from the toss-aways.

Another aspect to consider is that new teams will have to be weary of the cap this time around. Another new feature from the last expansion. And that could be a real bugger to deal with because you know teams aren't going to be protecting financial anchors from being taken. So there will be a lot of hefty contracts on the market for the expansion draft. One has to wonder if the league might try to find a way around that as well. A new team with a cap-heavy roster won't fair very well in the short term and I'm sure the league doesn't wanna see them go belly up in the first 5 years. Bad for business.

03 Feb 2016 01:34:37
If Ebs and McDavid play good together they NEED to try a 14-97-10 line. Don't know if they should have the wings on there off wings or not. Yak plays off wing but Ebs doesn't.

Oilers_11

1.) 03 Feb 2016 06:28:13
They could put anyone on that kids line. Wow... I seriously think he coulda challenged for the Art Ross this year if not for the injury.. maybe not with Kanes numbers , but with Benns numbers last year.. I could see it.. Pretty sure it will be his for years to come though.

2.) 03 Feb 2016 08:10:43
Yeah forgot how good he is! Your right he can make anyone look good so I say demote Pouliot and get yak going again.

3.) 04 Feb 2016 00:31:15
pouliot brings size to that line yak mcjesus and eberle would be to smalll no.

4.) 04 Feb 2016 07:37:44
When's he's playing good he uses his size but 90% of the time he doesn't. I'm one of those fans that don't really care about size. A guy like Draisaitl uses his size good and I love it but I think ebs and yak would do just fine.

13 Jan 2016 05:01:22
@RussianTank what did you think of Farnham running Jaskin?

Oilers_11

1.) 13 Jan 2016 21:49:46
Anyone else? IMO it was pretty nasty and I think he should get 5 ish games.

2.) 13 Jan 2016 23:30:58
Dirty hit, lol. 5s a bit too much, considering Marchand got only three. Two-three is good?

3.) 14 Jan 2016 04:04:59
I'm not a fan of Farnham. But I only think he'll get 2 games for that hit.

Read on the internet that Farnham has 7 goals and if he was still on the Penguins, the team that waived him, he'd be fifth on the team in scoring.

4.) 14 Jan 2016 10:13:28
4 games. Not thrilled about 4 games buts it's quite a bit. Interference with intent to injury. I don't know if Jaskin got injured but if he did it should have been a lot more. I think he's got the little man syndrome, he got cross checked against Edmonton and just went running around after.

12 Jan 2016 09:21:21
What's Dumba's ceiling and would he be a good fit in Edmonton? A right handed D and a big 3rd line center would be good for the Oil.

EDM- Nuge, Lander, 2nd 2016

MIN- Dumba, Coyle.

Fayne instead or Musil and a bad contract instead of Fontaine? I don't know I just feel like Oil would have to be adding.
