One local rumour for teams that call about Laine is that Chevy is asking for a good, young roster player with some term and 2 firsts/ A prospects. So, it doesn't sound like Laine will be moved unless or is a pretty good return.

The Jets needs are 2C and top 4 RHD. Wingers, bottom pairing defenseman and goalies have minimal value to the Jets.

I like Laine and would love to have him but I would much rather have a team than just one player.

Veleno could be a low end 2C or high end 3C for us in time which is a need we have. Bertuzzi brings intangibles and depth scoring which is key.

Plus giving up picks is not what we should do in a rebuild. Especially Top 10 pick most likely. If we were one Laine away from a cup contender I would consider it but otherwise this is a no from Detroit.

Bertuzzi is a bottom 6 player and a winger that the Jets have zero need for and doesn't come anywhere close to making up the value difference between Veleno and the picks and Laine.

Bertuzzi is the only returning piece that gives Winnipeg something to work with this year. It’s just not worth it for them to bring in all those futures when they want to contend right now. Detroit is the team rebuilding. They are going to be the team that needs all those futures.
