Really? That's way too much. Montour has huge upside and so does Steel. Nylander for Montour alone seems more fair.

Anaheim is going to be confuse as if Dubas is serious about the proposal or just messing around. Montour himself gets you Nylander when he doesn't have a contract. Eve then I don't think Anaheim trades to get to pay Nylander 8 million. I Say no from Anaheim for Montour straight up unless they know he's not getting 8 million.

I would want more for Nylander than just Montour, he’s got upside but really unproven for a team trying to compete. But yeah, Steel has looked to be progressing well and wouldn't be included as well. Pretty sure he’s the guy they got with the penguins pick we traded them for Freddy Andersen. Could be a real good find for them at #30.

I'd say Montour and a small add would be enough. Something like a 3rd, a 2nd round at most .
However wouldn't a more rugged guy lik Manson be a better fit?

Sosa, I agree. I’ve been saying for a while that Manson is exactly what we need. Just the age gap at 27 to Nylanders 22 could be an issue. But he’s the type of player for sure and he’s on a fair contract.
I think he’s a lefty, and they wouldn’t trade him, but Matthias Ekholm is another perfect player type. He’s efficient, can skate, can move a puck, has a bit of offense but is just a hard player to play against that never seems to be caught out of position and has some sandpaper aspect. Far from a fighter but more than willing to defend his net and goalie.

I think Ekholm is the type of player every team needs, not just the Leafs. IMO, he's one of the most underrated players in the entire league.

That will not get you Trouba. Why don't the leafs just keep JVR? Try to make a run in the playoffs. You will need a big scoring winger if you want to beat a healthy Tampa Bay team.
I really don't think you can get a good top 4 defenseman for JVR. Maybe JVR a first and a prospect. I know it a steep price but good top 4 defenseman cost.
I think if you want Trouba it will cost JVR, Kappenin and a first. If I was Toronto i think I would just let some defenseman develop and wait it out.

i don't get why ANA would do it. they have a relatively weak defence and a strong group of forwards, so this firther weakens a weakness and strengthens a strenght. not to metion firther complicating their goaltending situation.

I agree with the other replies. No need or desire by ANA to do this. They give up a highly underrated dman who is just going to get better, and they give up arguably the best goalie prospect in the league (with respect to Vas, if he counts) and their future #1G. Makes no sense for the Ducks.

Lindholm alone is worth more than those 2. Easily.
I view Lindholm as top pairing D and Gibson as a future #1 goalie.
Pretty sure a one-way top 6 winger (and I actually really like JVR) and a backup won't get you those.

Shatt prob wants 6.5 per year, straight up for JVR. 6'2 and 30 goals for $4.25 is hard to pass up for a contender with defensive depth, especially for a UFA that's headed for a big raise.

I like Hartnell but he can't skate at this pace, maybe aging, but he is 100% being exposed on his backcheck and defensive assignments. Can score and grit it out still, but defensive play, skating and salary is weighing him down.
