I’m not sure why Utah trades 3 picks for a 33 year-old that could probably be had for much less IF he chose to waive. (Older players are more likely to waive for a chance to win though. )

Why doesnt Ottawa take a look at DeSmith (UFA) and merzlikens (I think he's on the block) and use 1 draft pick on a guy like Hronek or something.

Penguin’s get two young guys who need a new opportunity. Plus Marner could be a great fit for Crosby and potentially could sign there. McMann is a good fit for Sullivan’s system.
Toronto gets a big solid defenseman who fell out of favour with Pittsburg however will have continued success in the NHL and could be a great fit for the leafs. Reilly is a big vet that is a proven playoff performer. Both players seem like fits in Berube’s system.

*LA retain 15% of Dubois remaining contract.
Penguins get younger with players that can play today. Also providing players with new opportunities. Dubas will be trading a # 1 starting goalie which is a big loss however they do get younger.
LA gets a # 1 starting goalie with 'term'. Also get out of the Dubois contract creating cap flexibility for years to come. They pick up a vet that can really help with a playoff run on a short term contract.

Quick retool for the Pens as they head into the future where Crosby, Malkin, Letang, Karlsson are all likely gone in the next 4 years or so. Interesting idea for sure!
