Sammy, . I mean Chickenfoot ;) They just may. I added a 6th (for this year) thinking it should happen but added a 7th two years later for them to accept the deal to be a lock up for the Oilers.
I feel Vancouver is big and a player like Maroon, reuniting with Perry could not only add some muscle and some antagonizing effects while possibly becoming a strong third line or used on the forth line.

- They would still have to juggle their line up to be cap compliant this year but, also gain back some younger D men - 1 that is tough (not as tough as big Z) but still can bring that forte to the game and another who can progress up the lines.
all n all both gms walk away from this trade feeling they did the right move to address their now respective clubs.

Yes I did a deal that gave the Leafs some cap space and Calgary takes it on. ( but ino will trade Hannifin and can be cap friendly by trading for picks and a prospect if they choose to do so.

I feel like the Leafs now is very well rounded, and teams won't run our players (including our young guns and goalies)

Just a simple trade to add a different forte that is needed for our backend which would also give us added cap space.
Zadorov for Nylander
Big Z definitley adds to our defense giving some net protection, making the opposition " blue line weary" and better keep their heads up knowing he can play both sides of the ice.
Yes many may feel Calgary wins this all day long but IMO a forte for a forte goes a long way when talking a positional trade and need.
It is the type of trade that may not be seen often but also one that can round out the team for the good of the team.
The only thing that may stop it is if Nylander had Calgary on the no trade list.

EDM did the best they could under that situation, and it’s not as uncommon as you think. Pinball- Pretty sure you are trying to compare something different than my proposal. We both know what Big Z does and brings and pretty sure no matter what team he plays for that forte he plays on the backend is just his total style of the way he plays. He imo would be our perfect addition to round out our D considering Morgan and Klingberg have other fortes that do not require body checks, playing hard in the corners ect.
I stand by my proposal and know yes maybe up front we lose a 40 goal scorer but we add a dimension on our D that is truely needed to round out our D core, . PLUS, WE GAIN some added cap space.

Not going to comment on the Hall cocaine rumour, but I will say that any of you so negative about Zadorov obviously don’t watch many Flames’ games.
6’6”, 240, above average skater, who will run over anyone, anytime. Last year, on an up and down Flames’ team, he played almost 19 min/ gm, was +10, and scored 14 goals, more than double any Leafs’ d.
I agree, a trade for Nylander probably wouldn’t happen, but if Conroy does trade the Z-train, it should be for a late 1st at least (or equivalent), or he should just keep him.

How can you guarantee that and how is that not spreading a rumour? The big reason Oil traded him was because they were desperate for a D and Chiarelli was bad at his job.
Zadorov is probably a really solid number 5 and if the market is right I could maybe see a late 1st or a 2nd. If he scores 10+ goals again then a 1st wouldn’t be surprising at all.

You are also 100% correct that Chiarelli was bad at his job.
I haven't "spread rumours" on this site or any others, so I thought that might count for something, but I see your point.
Nonetheless, I stand 100% by what I said. If you are ever in the position to talk to someone who was with the Oil at that time you will see that what I said was true. It is also true that coke is a MUCH bigger problem in the NHL than the league or the PA will admit.

That might be the best thing that could happen. With a large chunk of the money that won't be going to him Calgary can afford a top free agent center or winger to replace him.
Kadri or E Kane would my preference but I don't see Treliving signing Kane. If not one of those two there should be lots of other good UFAs available. Or if they go the trade route rentals like P Kane and Miller or RFAs like Dubois and Pastrnak could be options too.

Guess I am just hoping for at least that to occur again if worse comes to worse. Fingers crossed though (like everyone) that c.v. numbers somehow reduces in order to get the norm back in place, just that now, numbers are back on the rise dramatically.
