Depressing.

Such a smart move by SJS. all that cap they freed up gives them a chance to actively go after JT or maybe IK.
Amazing how much Hoffman's value plummeted - that GF just cost him a lot of money on his next contract.

3.) 19 Jun 2018 20:55:17
Yeah, that’s way less than I even thought. Still don’t know how guys thought it wouldn’t affect his value at all tho lol.

So i've seen many trades on here so I figured I'll give it a go

EDM- leon draisaitl, 10th OVA

MTL- 3rd OVA, max pacioretty

Tell me your thoughts on this as EDM needs wingers who can score so getting one of the 3 in the draft will help and Pacioretty is one of the best scoring wingers in the league and MTL needs a young top 6 center and still picks in the top 10 to get a good prospect

Difference between draisatl and patches is more than moving up those spots. Patches is 7 years older, has 1 year left and is coming off the worst year of his career. I don’t believe habs trade him right now, just because his value is awful compared to how good he has been over the last 4-5 years.

2.) 07 Jun 2018 19:30:14
Thanks for the input first time I've seen someone give a calm reasonable opinion instead of typing oh that's bias because this player is so much better then that or trash a player like max pacioretty for an off year. ( a person said him and bobby Ryan have the same trad value)

3.) 07 Jun 2018 19:37:25
Easiest no for Edmonton my goodness.

4.) 07 Jun 2018 19:53:27
Edmonton would say no.

5.) 07 Jun 2018 23:01:27
Lol, very true, not often do you get a calm calculated response from people on this site.
Being a habs fan, i'd love it. But EDM wouldn't go for it. I'm not sure what it would take to get Drais out of there, but i don't think the habs have the assets to do it.

PC wouldn't even answer his phone.

Let's rationalize it,

Patches (29) who has never got over 70 points in a season, who (regardless of last season) is going to decline more than improve. Has 1 year left on contract.

Draisaitl (22) has put up over 70 points in 2 of his first 4 years in the league. Who has 7 years of team control left. Plus he may not have reached his full potential yet.

Edmonton isn't really all that interested in moving up at the draft because based on their current lineup need an NHL ready player vs a player who may take 2 to 3 years to crack the roster.

would love to see what patches would do with a real 1a center, like mcdavid, many thing patches could hit 50 goals, but here's a thought, montreal may not trade patches, at all, before they know what happens with JT if and I say IF JT comes to montreal, THAT may be one of the condition, patches is still part of the team, if
montreal must draft tkachuk, i suspect patch is patch of the retool, and JT has strong intention of sign with montreal, iF ZADINA, I think that pat brisson indirectly informed his good friend MB, john is sign else where and patch will be on the move.

So with the retirement of my favourite player Andrie Markov, who’s career was under appreciated.
I kinda want to hear from people who they think the most under rated players are on your favourite team or a player that is just highly under rated in the league.

For me it use to be Craig Ludwig and Mike McPhee back in the 80s when they played in Montreal. Those 2 come to mind. I thought Emelin also was also underrated. or wrongly hated may be a better word.
I think at the moment, Tomas Tatar, considered kind of as a throw in for the Habs in the Pacioretty deal is underrated.

2.) 18 Apr 2020 06:29:55
For the leafs Travis Dermotte he’s an excellent player and a stable shut down guy. He can do anything and makes few mistakes definitely someone the leafs should hang onto. He’s easily a stable top 4 dman.

3.) 18 Apr 2020 14:36:00
For Detroit, I would say it would be Hronek in the league. He’s a pretty steady presence on our blue line. Not saying he should be top of the league but I feel he deserves more notice for the way he has become the best defender on the team and his overall growth.

4.) 18 Apr 2020 14:38:26
@sosa, I agree with you on Tatar. Even in Detroit he was underrated. He’s a solid 2 way, secondary scorer who deserves more. Glad he found his stride with the Habs again.

5.) 21 Apr 2020 06:51:30
Phil daneult is underrated now on the Habs years ago I like Sosa picks and also muller was underrated on that 93 team and carbo. bobby smith as well. I don’t think Markov was underrated tbh. Never did play his best in the playoffs when it mattered most.

6.) 26 Apr 2020 11:58:20
Schwartz - he's not splashy, but he's consistent. Can be played in all situations and is a well rounded player that seems to get little attention compared to his higher profile teammates.

So this is funny, last year lots of people were salivating at the chance to get Caufield, now people are saying he has no value. On the Petry note, he is getting old but teams will still pay a pretty penny for him as he is still a solid top 4 D that can step up to the top pair for a period of time. And as of now Fleury is a bottom pair D but as a 20 year old. Has a potential to be a Jacob Slavin type D. I don’t see either team doing this as Jets are going to be in a quick retool and will keep young stars. And Habs should wait on some of there prospects and keep low until Boston, Tampa and leafs fall off a bit.

So Vatanen Van-Reimsdyk and Edmondson are all UFA and Hamilton in a year is a UFA. So losing those 2 could be bad for them. And I say we can agree to disagree on Mete because I’m a fan of his game and I can see him being a Ryan Ellis type player. And Ik Habs RW is week but pushing Ryan that high is a reach as he’s just doesn’t look ready in the chl to go up against NHL players.

I do agree to some degree but the problem with Montreal trading a 1st is it might be a top 10 pick, I think a 2nd is more reasonable as it’s most likely a 32-45 pick.

So a few things. I don’t think hurricanes make that trade as that is now 2 D off there top 6 and don’t have much in the system to replace with. Second I don’t think Montreal will want to trade Mete unless it’s an out of this world package, he is a smart young D with loads of potential and already has 100+ NHL games. And lastly the predicted lineup is way too hopeful, Ryan Suzuki will not be NHL ready for at least another 2-3 years and having Cale Fleury above his older brother Haydon is a bit of a reach.

Personally I would love Hanifin on the Habs and I think having Domi as the base return fits as he slots in the 2C for Calgary and moves lindholm to 1RW it helps both teams I do agree that Habs need to add but Caufield is too much of an add.
