What do you all think about Vancouver taking a stab at signing Tyler Bertuzzi? I think he fits well into Tocchet style hockey... even Domi for that matter.. although Domi will want to stay with Toronto...

What would the dollar figure be?

BumbleBeeTuna18

1.) 26 Jun 2024 17:04:20
I think Toronto will overpay to keep both. Is it the right move- maybe not, but I expect they will.

2.) 01 Jul 2024 04:48:39
Bertuzzi = 5M x 4 years.

To Van - Jack McBain 1.5 Million

To Utah - Ilya Mikheyev 4.75 Million, sharks 6th round pick

Van gets a big forward (perhaps a Joshua replacement). Utah gets speed/skill to their game.

Van trades Joshua rights, for rights to Guentzel from the hurricanes.

Van signs B Dillion (LD), resign Hronek, Zadorov, Myers, Silovs

If trade happens, van would have approximately 31.85 million in cap space. Also assuming the cap projection to be 87.675 total cap space.

Guentzle 9.5 Million
Hronek. 8 Million
Zadorov. 6 Million
Dillon. 4 Million
Myers. 2 Million
Silovs. 1.5 Million

The UFA rights trade makes no sense, I don't think there's ever been a trade between teams for solely the UFA rights between 2 players.

And I think the reason Hronek hasn't been signed yet is Vancouver isn't willing to go as high as $8m, they want a # lower than Hughes AAV and Hronek has been rumored to be included in their attempts to trade Carolina for Necas.

I do like the Mikheyev trade though and I think Utah would pull the trigger on that if it was offered.

2.) 17 Jun 2024 18:42:57
Good comment!

I think Necas will stay in Carolina, based on his age, which makes Guentzle the odd man out. As for swapping negotiation rights, I feel it's an advantage to both sides if team won't be able to come to terms and specific team needs. Basically it avoids free agent frenzy and missing out or being out bid for a players services.

3.) 17 Jun 2024 20:02:33
Thanks Tuna! I think you're right about Guentzel, the early reports last month suggested that Carolina wanted to try to sign and keep Guentzel but I know I've read that the Hurricanes are open to trading his negotiating rights now.

I think the negotiating rights could be harder to acquire than just offering another free agents negotiating rights though, maybe at least a late round draft pick as well. For example, in the past Detroit has traded a 3rd round pick and the rights to Jonathan Bernier for the rights to Alex Nedjelkovic in 2021 and a 3rd round pick for the rights to Ville Husso in 2022.

Maybe if the Canes are interested in Joshua, his negotiating rights + their 2024 4th round pick would be the right trade value?

Just spit balling here...

Vancouver trades:

Vancouver - Boeser

Minnesota - 3rd round pick 2024 (2nd round in $$ retained)

Vancouver - Garland

Washington - 2nd round pick 2025

*Washington would have to trade Mantha to make this work**

-------------------------------

I think Vancouver could get Hoglander to fulfill what Garland does, but at a cheaper cap hit.

I think Boesers spot could be filled by Podkolzin.

Then Vancouver should pursue Max Comtois on a "Show me" contract.

If Myers is traded, Dumba could be a great addition... pending the contract. (No more than 3 years @ 4 million)

BumbleBeeTuna18

1.) 08 Jul 2023 17:28:38
- MIN has around 8M to fill 7 roster spots

- Boeser costs 6.65M

- with 2 more seasons of 14M+ in dead cap MIN isn’t in a position to add a nice piece like Boeser, even at the bargain you’re offering. It would be tempting, but they’re in cap hell for two more years.

To Vancouver

A. Nedeljkovic @ 3 million (current minors salary is 1.875 million)

Van to retain 1.825 million

Vancouver gains 1.175 in cap space assuming Nedeljkovic plays.

To Detroit

T. Myers @ 4.175 Million

Detroit loses 2.3 million in cap

Thought behind this:

Detroit gets a solid defenseman that is hard to play against. Detroit also gets rid of the dead cap with Nedeljkovic in the minors.

Going to Vancouver to play under Ian Clark could really improve his play as well.

Vancouver takes a gamble on a goalie... as Delia is up for a contract extension. Canucks also free up cap space a tiny bit.

BumbleBeeTuna18

1.) 21 Apr 2023 21:53:25
I made a math mistake. van retain 1.825*.

2.) 24 Apr 2023 20:21:45
Neither team is cap strapped are they? Vancouver could’ve just taken him off waivers if they wanted him.

3.) 25 Apr 2023 16:06:44
Vancouver would have to trade to make this happen because of being over the cap.

All these flames trades are halarious! #pinballisback do you have relatives in Calgary?

Is it me or is calgary in "rebuild denial"?? Huberdeau is a great player... but 10.5 million for a guy that's 29?? Yikes and Weegar... he's 29 in January... but it's true some boats do have 2 anchors lol

BumbleBeeTuna18

1.) 18 Aug 2022 22:12:51
They’re in win now mode, I’m sure they don’t care about the long term. They’ll probably be rebuilding in 5 years after their contender window closes. Someone’s jealous that their rival is making their team better after a disastrous beginning to free agency.

2.) 19 Aug 2022 10:51:23
Calgary is doing pretty good. Markstrom is the reason they lost. Why all the hate?

3.) 19 Aug 2022 13:32:30
@Habsreally yup, no matter how many goals Calgary scored, Markstrom couldn’t stop a beach ball. Markstrom threw and is the main reason flames lost.

4.) 20 Aug 2022 03:44:53
100 percent they deserved to be there and how they played deserved to lose. How can you be mad when every game is 54, 65or 43.

08 Feb 2022 03:46:17
Home town nuck. well sure but that's a horrible contract for that type of player. absolutly awful. Both players Vancouver gives are on great contracts. Vancouver blocks Dubas.

Seeing as Benning didn't sign markstrom and tanev... but said he wants to add a top 6 forward, I would not be surprised if he chases after Taylor Hall, who would take a short term deal for a contending team. The holes in the defense are obvious as well. If Benning goes after Hall, he should try landing Sami Vatanen as well... these two would account for a 10 million cap hit... then with the rest of the defense to fill in the holes from the farm...

I need to keep 6 keepers in my pool. It's a banger league... but doesn't include PIM. The players we keep, we lose the draft pick this year based on when they were drafted in last year.

I will keep:

Kucherov rnd 1
Bobrovsky rnd 2
Tom wilson rnd 15
Elias pettersson rnd 16

This is where I need help.
Flip Forsberg rnd 4 (maybe?)
Artemi Panarin rnd 4 (via trade last yr)
Blake Wheeler rnd 3

Or should I keep 1 or both

Mike Hoffman rnd 9
Ryan O'Rielly rnd 10

And have a 3rd and fourth pick this year??

This is a 12 team pool... and I placed 8th last year, so I will be 5th in line for picking.

G, A, P, PPP, hits, blks, shots on goal

Wins, save %, GAA

Cheers

1.) 24 Aug 2019 20:55:31
Keeping Tom Wilson over Forsburg, Wheeler and especially Paniran would be a huge mistake hits and Pim are much easier to find then points keep Paniran for sure and if you’re dead set on keeping Wilson I’d keep Wheeler because he’s the better player in this format but Forsburg is younger.

Note: I’m under the assumption that this is an head to head Category based league if it’s points based I’d need more information.

2.) 25 Aug 2019 18:22:47
VB apparently did not understand what picks would be surrendered respectively.
Obviously, Wheeler is better than Wilson. But for Wilson he only has to forfeit his 15th rd pick and Wilson in Rd 15 is very good value. For Wheeler it's his 3rd rd pick.

@BBT18: Tbh, I'd almost be inclined to keep all the guys you mentioned. They all sound like pree good value in their respective rounds. Since you can keep only 6, I'd probably decide for: Kucherov, Wilson, Pettersson, Panarin, Wheeler. For the last spot, I'd re-consider whether Bob is worth that 2nd rd pick. Could be, but goalies are usually a WC, not sure I'd spend 17th overall for him.

Def wouldn't keep Forsberg. He's pretty good obv, but I feel Hoffman in rd 9 is better value than Forsberg in rd 4, if you want to keep any of those over Bob.

3.) 25 Aug 2019 19:26:04
Yah I didn’t understand that I agree with the Triplets.

I wouldn't be surprised if a 3 way deal happened with Erik Karlsson with Tampa and vancouver. I hope vancouver doesn't end up with Karlsson. just prospects and picks.

BumbleBeeTuna18

1.) 06 Jul 2018 22:53:56
The third team not names Ottawa or Tampa would just be retaining some of a players contract and receiving picks for that.

Like Karlsson traded to NYR, NYR retaining money and trading him to Tampa. For example. Something around that idea.
The third team who just retains money on a contract will reciece picks for that. That's all.

Did you read my comment about the 3 million?

I don't hate the leafs. It seems some fans over value their players. to be honest you are a good fan for their team. but when you post a horrible 1 sided trades. it's going to get called out. Oh, shout out to MG69, a leafs fan (I think? ) Who has a good perspective!

Anyways this thread has run its course.

You didn't add Guenther salary.

Re-read the post. your paying marner 3 extra million to get 10 more points than what Keller got last year when you compare contracts. I think this thread has run its course.

There is no hate on the leafs. they screwed themselves and most of their FANS expect other teams to bail them out for their poor management.
