Hey Casual, I would suggest it would be a no from the Habs since there's no 1st available to he included.

Previously the expected return was a 1st + 3rd, the Savard price Tampa paid last year. I suspect its now a 1st + an attractive prospect. With Chychrun and Klinger injured the market just got a lot tighter.

I think it will be STL who makes the winning pitch.

Only interested in Chiarot if he'll re-sign for $4mil or less per year to stay, otherwise if he'll just be a rental, the price is too high

Would need to fit Chiarot under the Cap, so need 50% retention which might cost their 5th/ 7th as well. Maybe waive and assign Ritchie to Stockton instead of trading him.

Alternative is to offer up Dube instead of the 2nd for cap reasons, but I'd like to see Dube moved separately for Calle Jarnkrok, Johan Larsson, Nathan Bastian, N. Paul or Z. Sanford (if they will sign and stay in CGY) or add picks and go after JT Miller, Zacha, Crouse, Connor Brown, Getzlaf, Kuraly. Copp might be an option, but he'd be a rental as he'd likely cost too much to re-sign, so I prefer Stastny who maybe stays in CGY 1-2 more years?

My question is who might be interested in Monahan? CLB, ARI, SEA, BUF? And for who could we get in return. Maybe add a pick for Giordano or try for Soucy instead!? Will very likely lose Zadorov and Gaudreau for nothing to FA if we keep them is my guess, but don't want to break up the chemistry this year either.

Valimaki is the 1st @Chickenfoot and a 2nd is the attractive prospect = It's Equivalent to a 1st and 3rd anyways. but might need to add their 5th/ 7th for 50% retention

Joel Edmundson might be the other option and might be cheaper. He's the same size and seems to perform better statistically in the playoffs, just not sure whether he's as tough or talented TBH.

Considering Manson got a good prospect and a 2nd I think you’d have to add a little more. I’m assuming Colorado went with Manson because the price for Chariot was too high? Might need to add another mid/ high pick.

Interesting to note there were 10 scouts present for the Habs/ Philly game. PIT is now in the mix. Chiarot is being kept out of tonight's game so perhaps something is imminent.

I like Chiarot but that's a little too much for him as a rental. Make it Dube instead of Valimaki and Ritchie then call up Walker Dueher to replace Dube.

I'm assuming Ritchie was just a throw in for cap reasons. He wouldn't add much value to the trade for Montreal and he's a good guy to keep around for playoff depth / injury insurance.

MOX - the deadline is the most expensive time to add, and with good reason. If a team thinks they're close they go for it, and hope it works out with a Cup.

I think your team is close, and the price for Chiarot IS expensive, no question. The market determines the price, and I think we'll soon see what the market value for Chiarot is. In my humble opinion this isn't close. The winning offer will include a 1st +.

I agree with @MoxNix, Dube + a 2nd + a 5th for Chiarot 50% Retained is the MAX I'd give up without an extension in place.

Keep Ritchie OR Waive and Assign him to Stockton, so he's available come playoff time. I really don't see him getting claimed, unless Arizona wants to unite him with his Brother.

Any comments/ thoughts on Joel Edmundson? Other guy being talked about is Brett Kulak, but I don't see him being any better than the depth we already have.

Big NO from Calgary unless you can switch Monny for Vali and change the 2nd to a 3rd. Chiarot does not move the needle for us where it counts.
