Ok let me entertain the craziness I've seen from some of you. Would this do the trick to get McDavid to Ottawa?

Only the 2023 pick HAS to be protected as no way Ottawa gives up a chance at Bedard Mischkov or Fantilli on top of everything else including what could already be a Wright, Lambert, or Savoie.

Ottawa then signs free agents Nugent-Hopkins and Larsson to give McDavid some familiarity as well as Landeskog to add some gritt and muscle for McDavid. Then let Anisimov walk away with Stepan and work something out with Seattle so they take Matt Murray or just buy him out.

Tierney = 3RD Liner
Brown = Weaker Prospect
Abramov = Weaker and Older Prospect
White = 2C

Only pieces that hold value to Edmonton is Batherson and the picks obviously. It’s going to take either Tkachuk/ Stutzle, Batherson, Sanderson, 1st +

Quality > Quantity

Can’t expect to get the best player in the league for weak prospects who can’t crack a horrible roster, gamble picks and a cap dump (Zaitsev)

There is a thing in the NHL called contract limit. A team can only have 50 Contracts. Also white is definitely not a 2C a 3C is even pushing it. He’s a 3rd line winger on a contender or a healthy scratch on a top team. Try something like this.

No. No one cares. This is Connor F****king McDavid. If the Leafs wanted him, it probably costs Auston Matthews + Mitch Marner/ William Nylander at least. None of those bottom five players mean anything in a trade for Connor f***king McDavid. So, Thomas Chabot, whos a damn good dman + two unprotected firsts and Drake Batherson, whos a second line winger, nothing more, for the best player in the world? Ha. Fat chance. From any team, McDavid gets two of their three most valuable pieces at least - in Ottawa's case, that's two of Chabot, Tkachuk and Stutzle at the minimum. Then, depending on the value of the two pieces (Matthews/ Marner >> Chabot/ Tkachuk; Makar/ Toews >> Lafreniere/ Kakko), you add some more.

Chabot And Batherson are both high end pieces

Ottawa is an expected lottery team right now making those 3 picks just as valuable if not more so given the 2 most stacked draft classes in a long time involved.

Brown is STILL revered league wide and by experts around the world as a top 60 prospect. You can deny it all you want but that is exactly why you are NOT, and never will be considered an expert. And will never get a gig that has anything to do with sports.

White is basically Pageau now. And look where he is in New York. Arguably their best player outside Barzal. So over qualified 3rd line center is exactly right. Low end 2nd line center is white.

And I don't understand what you have against the rest? Every team NEEDS depth. That is what the rest are, depth.

Just because I'm NOT and DO NOT believe I need to add Stutzle, Tkachuk, or Sanderson, doesn't mean the offer still don't carry similar or more value to another team.

@Sens_Able If Edmonton was blowing it up and going for a full rebuild that offer would be a good start. In that case Edmonton probably say we'll take Chabot, Batherson the picks (ALL unprotected), you keep the rest and add something else better than them.

In the end it doesn't matter since Edmonton isn't blowing it up and has no intention of trading McDavid at this time.

Actually Edmonton would probably settle for Chabot, Tkachuk, Batherson and 1 or 2 first round picks. IF they were trading McDavid which they aren't.
