Thoughts? Your Toronto bias becomes more and more apparent with every post.

Minnesota is looking to compete for a cup, not get a first that will be really late, an AHL goalie and a prospect.

I do not think Minnesota can win a cup with the team they have. They are too thin down the middle and their goaltending is inconsistent. I do not have them making the playoffs. Unless the pacific is that week and 5 teams from the central make it.

Trading Spurgeon frees up 5 million to make a splash at the Deadline, Sparks was an AHL Goaltender yes but the best AHL Goaltender in the League, Murray in Pittsburgh was the same and look now, Minnesota isn't good enough with or without Spurgeon to Win anything, it's a move that only helps Minnesota in the end with there Goaltending, Cap Space, and another 1st Round Pick to either keep or package it for a Deadline Trade.
For the Leafs they need a Top Pairing Defenceman to play with Reilly.

That package isn't close if you consider Spurgeon a top pairing RHD. don't need to free up cap now for deadline and that's terrible rationale to trade a key player anyway. Sure Sparks has looked good. he's also 25 and hasn't gotten much for nhl experience. Unkown goalies don't get a lot on the market right now especially not ones from the AHL Leafs are better off giving him the backup job and showcasing him a bit before trading. Greenway looks like he hasn't been developing all that well and a late first doesn't get you a top 4 D from a team pushing for playoffs.

IF Minnesota were to trade spurgeon it would probably be for another similar talanted player or apart of a bigger deal but IF they were willing to move him for a future oriented package Dougie Hamilton is a good comparible ( 1st and 2nds. )

I love the second explanation how Minnesota should be open to trading Spurgeon because they’re not good enough to win a cup, br then the first rounder you’re giving them is a great asset they can use at the deadline for a push haha which is it?!
