Cmon @TT that's awful for Toronto and we all know it. Maatta may be decent, but he's not getting a 20 year old skilled forward. Marner for someoone like Noah Hanifin is fair tbh, and even then, I would hesitate considering the Leafs big three should stay together.

If leafs are trading marner or nylander it’s for a D that’s a lot better than mattaa already, or a kid that at least has the potential to be a stud D (always a chance they don’t pan out and you get ripped off) but you don’t trade 20/ 21 year old forwards with star potential to fill out the middle of your D core lol.

Honestly i think Marner for Hanifin is a lost for Carolina. Marner is very, very, very good don't get me wrong but, Hanifin is the closest defensemen in the nhl right now to Ryan Suter imo. I think he even has the potential to be even better then him. he's only 21 and already a big part of the defense in one of the best d core in the league. If he's that good now wait until he's 25 and prime time. Watch out. While Marner will be getting 60 points consitently and probably a couple 70 points season two. But no. don't get rid of Hanifin for another Jeff skinner.

But marner is the same age and already a huge part of the leafs great offence
It’s both teams trading from there deepest position for one they really need and no age or contract gap between them. It’s very close.

Didnt say it's a fair deal. But what I described above is hard to come by, so it's certainly not as ripoff-ish as some of you make it seem.
