Basing this off a blog - goo.gl/yWxR3

DAL: Eberle & 2017 1st round pick (EDM)
EDM: 2017 1st round pick (DAL, 3rd overall)

Dallas needs a right winger to replace the likes of Hemsky, Sharp, and Hudler. Eberle had a down year and still put up 51 points.

Oilers could then grab someone like Gabe Vilardi, or trade down and stockpile the prospect drawer to prepare for the cap inflexibility of the future.

I personally think that Jim Nill will hold true to his statement about trading for a more proven defensemen with that pick. But if I we're to in fact trade for the pick anyways, something would be telling me they're interested in not only Texas born LD Caleb Jones. So maybe a deal like:
EDM
RWEberle (500k retained)
LDCaleb Jones
3rd Rd pick
DAL
3rd Overall pick
I like the Gabriel Vilardi thought though even though I don't see Edmonton fetching picks, dominating right handed, big centers, who have some grit and even more skill like him, are hard to come by.

I'm not sure if the difference between a 1st round pick and a 3rd round pick is Caleb Jones. Granted, I don't know as much about him but that's a pretty big gap.

I believe Nill said he want an established defenseman.

Ummm ya. NO!
2017 picks are useless and not even wanted this year. You're not getting Eberle for a pick. Especially a 2017 pick.

Per GM PC.
"Our team exceeded expectations this year and I'm not looking to make a major off season move" I want to let the current team grow together"

So please go peddle your weak a$$'d draft picks to Vancouver or Detroit, Vegas or some other non-playoff team that needs them.

Edm is fine as they are :)

Wow Eberle will not net a top 3 pick the other pieces are meh maybe Eberle and Nurse or switch Eberle for a 2nd.

It's probably closer than you think, not knowing much about Caleb Jones, but I also think Edmonton may have added a 2nd if they had one alongside Jones without any Eberle salary retention. Also don't forget that 500k off of Eberle holds a bit of value as well, with the 3rd and Jones combined.

Stop saying that this years draft is useless. No draft is useless. Weak, yes, but useless, no. Every draft will have its surprises.

Nylander,
He will not be traded for a mere draft pick. Sorry. ( Specially this year) . Unless it's a sure fire McDavid / Matthews / Eichel / Laine type pick he's traded for, Eberle won't be traded for a handful of magic beans that MIGHT make the NHL, or might be another Daigle.

Top 6 proven he can play in the NHL player. for a Maybe. ya not happening. Next trade.

FlyingV
This is a complete troll trade. 0 chance this will happen from Edmonton's end.

BTW.
Edmonton does not own a second this year.
Edmonton will not retain salary on any trade,

LOL. Eberle for a magic bean. in the weakest draft year in a decade. Please. you guys are killing me!

I consider this ridiculous rumor quashed and closed!

@MJC

Totally agree with you. The draft is weak at the top, but hell, there are still players who are going to become NHLers in the draft. The top end is weak, but its still good. FT4A, come on bud, get ya head outta your a$$, realize that there is value in having a top 3 pick.

5 years down the road there will be 5 star players in the NHL from this class. Not superstars, but a cpl #2 defensman or 25-30 goal scorers. It happens in the weakest drafts. I would like my team to have the best chance at hitting on one of those. You can not value the pick as high as other years, but it's not just garbage either. A few really good players and a lot of serviceable NHLers will be drafted in June.

You do realize that Alexandre Daigle only had 60 less points than Eberle right? Lol and he's called one of the biggest busts of all time. He scored those points making no money too. Not comparable, just a funny observation.
