Lander seems to have no place on the Oilers with McDavid/ RNH/ Drais/ Letestu as a four man cohort and no place on the wings. He put up 20points two years ago but struggled last year, so that's why I priced him so low. If his value is higher, maybe a fourth? I don't really know. Honestly though, I know the leafs have a ton of forwards but the leafs have been good with reclamation projects (Santorelli, Parenteau, Winnik, Hunwick) so why not try another? This also allows the team to try and package of Tyler Bozak without losing a third line center (who else would play third line center)

Leafs 23 man lineup (assuming Bozak is shipped out for a 2nd) :

i'd think Rychel would get time this year, Toronto has no need for lander they have more than enough young talent trying to make the lineup.

only reason i decided to do this is bcuz Lander DID have 20 points/ 38 games. with a coach like Babcock, he could turn Lander into what Bozak was, and then ship at like the deadline for something higher. If you can't ship him, oh well, he's fairly young - and though the leafs have plenty young talent - i wouldn't mind seeing Lander.

Not a bad thought, teams always like extra youth in the lineup/ pipeline but I agree that rychel is going to get a good look and this is not a priority. They're plan for rychel is most likely to be a second option like JVR. Big body with offense.

Lander looked awesome in pre season last year and everyone thought he was going to have a good year, but looks like this season was completely trash and if Oilers were offered just a 4-5th round pick for him I'd take it. But he is decent in faceoffs and is still young.

As McJ said, he was getting into the dirty areas and performed great. In pre-season.
His faceoff and defensive zone play is very good. Just needs to bring what he did in the preseason to the real season.

He still has a better chance of making the NHL than a 4th or 5th round pick. The Leaf with the pick isn't even on the Leafs roster so not sure where that name got pulled from?

Best for Edm to just keep Lander as his contract expires this year. If Toronto offered up Conner or Cordaro then it might be worth pondering the trade.
