Hearing The Ducks wants Willy very much as the Winger for newly drafted Center Carlsson, Anaheim has a ton of Cap Space and will gladly give WNylander his 10 million a year contract.

Leafs turn the page with new young good players coming back and getting Cap Space relief to do some other things to improve the roster, hard to trade a 40 goal elite Winger but this is a proposal that helps them now and in the future.

Historically? … maybe Hysterically? Maybe they talk and agree in principle on a new contract. In which case I would expect more in return for CGY. Or maybe NJ is just ready to take the next step which includes taking some risks. I like Mercer and would happily trade Hanafin for him. I don’t think this is a to-out-of-this world possibility.

The gap between McTavish and Liljgren is way bigger than Terry and Nylander IMO. But usually teams have to overpay to land the best player in the deal so could be close. Although I’m sure ANA views McTavish close to untouchable because of his potential.

ANA is a rebuilding team, and Nylander is entirely wrong for that situation. ANA (easily) declines.

Anaheim is rebuilding yes but when you get an opportunity to add a Winger like WNylander you do that.
Why would Anaheim sign Killorn and Gudas if it's a total rebuild?
Drafting Carlsson who I believe is in The NHL this upcoming season who better to have on his Wing than a player like WNylander.

If the Ducks gave Nylander that contract then they are gonna have to give a similar contract to Zegras. Now they have two players making $10mill+ and will be in the same boat as the Leafs are now which is cap hell. Nylander is not worth $10mill. He's a been a point per game player once. Scored 40G once.

He wants to get paid like Marner and Matthews. Marner has been a point per game player 5/ 7 years of his career. He's was nominated for the Selke this year. Matthews has been a point per game player 6/ 7 years of his career. He's won the Rocket twice. The Lindsay and Hart once. He's scored 40G 5/ 7 years and over 30 in those other two years. Since people like to say he out performs them in the core in the playoffs. Nylander has 40P in 50 games. Matthews has 44P and Marner has 47P in the same 50 games.

He is just not a $10mill+ player.

I do believe The Ducks will give WNylander 10 million a year, The Leafs would do it themselves if they had The Cap but they don't.
Zegras will get 10 million also but Anaheim has over 28 million in Cap now for mostly everyone signed with term, look at The Ducks roster and Salaries they are in great shape for the next 3 to 4 years.
And that's why they make the trade because winning and having known players also sells tickets and merchandise, it's a business in the end don't forget.

Agree to disagree I suppose. In my opinion, many other Leafs' fans, and apparently Treliving as well he isn't worth the $10mill+ he is asking. If there is a team willing to pay him that then all the power to them.
