First of all this is a bad trade for both teams.
Montreal should not have to give up a first and a second to get Yakupov, at most he would cost a late first and an above average prospect.
Edmonton does not want to give up on Yakupov especially since he was looking like Yak of 2013 when he was playing with Connor McDavid early in the year. Those two together could put up huge point totals together for years.

KingsLover, yes that's true but the problem is that they cannot keep all of their forwards, they just have too many, they will have to let go of a couple.
Bud, Edmonton doesn't have an Emelin type player, the only reason Montreal could part with him is because we have Pateryn to replace him. Barberio is a very good offensive defensemen with some NHL experience, look at his AHL numbers right now he is killing it, the only reason he is not playing on the Habs is because we have a major overload of defensemen. Tinordi if given a proper chance on a young team could become a beast, just no room for him in Montreal right now.

@Skeletor514 the oilers do have an Emelin type player in Eric Gryba, and he's almost 3 million cheaper. Plus he's right handed. And exactly what KingsLover said.
