Leafs dump contracts, Ashton and Broll to get under the 50 player max.

Clearing up room for trades in the next month.

See ya, franson, winnik, santorili, lupul. and hopefully gardiner.

1.) 07 Feb 2015
Ashton and broll for nothing cause they won't see that pick. can you remember when broll was a major piece in trade proposals?what ever happened?

2.) 07 Feb 2015
TB got railed on that trade. Took on useless contracts.

Sidenote: am I the only one who is seeing a completely obvious leafs internal tank going on here? 1 win since dec, shut out many times, and come-from-behind losses so so many times? How has the NHL not stepped in and watched them more closely?

Oh, that's right, it's Toronto. Do whatever because it's hockey universe or whatever leafs fans spout all the time. Yeesh. Media has already brought up the Oilers possibly intentionally tanking, yet they are far better since Eakins was fired, and I've yet to here a mutter from the media about the leafs intentionally plummeting in order to try and win the lottery. Gimme a break. How does a team go from playoff-cusp to losing 14/15 with a record like that? It's insane. Oh, Toronto would never do that, right? BS. It's disgusting that the NHL let's this continue. Investigate already.

3.) 07 Feb 2015
Really don't think its intentional at this point, even though it should be.

the nashville loss wasnt that bad at all, consdering they got robbed of tying it up late with that incredible save, and the fact that bernier gave up 2 goals, then got hurt, then goes back in and gives up 2 more. stupid coaching decision there.

put up 34 shots against new jersey, not 12. but I didn't watch the game so I don't know about the effort.

4.) 07 Feb 2015
Maybe the nhl should put together a rule on obvious tanking, take the oilers last 5 seasons and make it the standard?

5.) 07 Feb 2015
Chirp I can't disagree with you even though I can't believe a team who at the time of Carlyle's firing still had a chance to make the playoffs. I think the the first 5 or 6 games of this losing streak they lost fair and square, but since then It looks like the whole organization has just given up. right from the play on the ice to the lowball contract offer to franson to actually fining players for being late for practice cause they got a flat tire. whether its a tank job or not I can't say for sure but if they continue to lose and play at this level there should at least be some kind of an investigation no team is this bad well except maybe buffalo who seem to only be able to beat montreal.

6.) 07 Feb 2015
Ovie I guess your right if the oilers can get away with it for 5 years then the leafs current skid shouldn't be an issue. I just feel like this leaf team should be better not a playoff team but a lot better then this.

7.) 07 Feb 2015
I don't think the oilers intentionally tanked, they were just mismanaged by people who made a lot of terrible decisions. The leafs were a playoff-cusp team in December, fired their coach in spite of that, and handed the reigns to someone who obviously has no business being a head coach, and have oddly plummeted since then. They have a good goalie tandem, ok defense, and some good scoring up front, yet they can't score a goal to save their lives and lose on a nightly basis due to weak goals that any goalie in the league could stop? Please.

Oilers sucked and got some good players along the way, but none have really been cornerstone players. But as soon as a generational player (or two) is up for grabs at 1st overall the leafs take an inexplicable tumble down the ranks? Gimme a break. Management knew they didn't have a cup contender so they went the other route and are making every effort to fail. Wouldn't surprise me if Carlyle wanted no part of it and that's why he was fired.

8.) 07 Feb 2015
All I know is right now randy Carlyle is looking like he just might have been the best coach in the world

9.) 07 Feb 2015
The leafs always start well then suck, that's just what happens, their only playoff appearance came in a lockout shortened season with a bunch of ahl players in mid season form leading the way.

carlyle was fired almost a month into their current skid and it appeared as if he had lost the room at the time of his firing, not saying it was right or wrong, just what happened, and its either the biggest mistake in years, or the best thing they could ever do, depedning on what happens in june.

my own high hopes are as follows.

theyre going to win the draft lottery from 5th worst position and get mcdavid, it will be a big conspiracy and everyone, fans and haters will freak right out.

like I said, high hopes.

i mean something good has to happen to the leafs somtime right? it can't be like this forever? or can it.

10.) 07 Feb 2015
Or ovie maybe they will finish 2nd last and someone like Arizona wins the lottery and bumps them up to 3rd wouldn't that be just typical.

11.) 08 Feb 2015
It would be hilarious.

12.) 08 Feb 2015
Ovies hero I disagree. The Leafs started a trend of play really good early in the season then playing bad near the end only 3 seasons ago. The leafs sine the lock out in 2004 had always played bad early in the season and had to always play catch up to desperately make the playoffs which they always failed inevitably. This happened in 2005-2012. In 2012 everyone thought the Leafs would make the playoffs (before the all star break) because they were always good near the end of the season and this time it was different they didn't have to play catch up anymore, well surprise surprise the leafs did the exact opposite and now it became a new trend. I am starting to think the hockey god despise the leafs, for the love of god what did we do to deserve this really.

13.) 08 Feb 2015
If you're actually blaming this on a "hockey god" then you're more foolish than most. Things are what they are without divine help. Leafs won today against a bottom-feeder, and by a score they should have beaten a great many other teams by in January. But it's 1 win. Unless this is a turn-around game (I highly doubt it) then it's essentially meaningless. The tank will continue. Oh, whoops, they end up in the bottom-3 by accident near the end of the season. Shocker.

14.) 08 Feb 2015
Chirps going to be upset if the leafs end up with mc-eichel

its ok to hate the leafs chirp

15.) 08 Feb 2015
If you can blame hockey gods, you have to praise them too.

16.) 08 Feb 2015
It's been a while since I've posted but I have to say that chirp is a piece of work. I still read the comments once in a while and he bashes every leaf proposal on here. Now chirp thinks they have a good goalie tandem, ok defense and good scoring up front. Some of these guys must have good trade value then chirp. Yet you continue to call all leaf fans delusional. Is it at all possible that the leafs have been mismanaged? As an Oilers fan you have no room to speak. How many 1st rounders does your team need? As far as the draft goes, what if every team that fails to make the playoffs were to have a chance at the 1st overall? Teams would always be battling for a playoff spot because they would know that there was still a chance to get a top pick if they didn't. The % chance of winning the 1st could be divided amongst all non playoff teams. With there being a salary cap, there is no feeling sorry for a team that is terrible every year. They can't get a 1st year after year. Glad to see Ovie & Hab are still posting.

17.) 08 Feb 2015
Selective memory, you moron? I bash leafs proposals that deserve bashing. That it ends up being most of them isn't my fault, it's the fault of the deluded leafs fans who post them. Everyone knows leafs fans are the most deluded in the league. It's tough to deny that, buddy. I'll agree with the occasional leafs proposal if it makes sense, but junk along the lines of "Bozak and Bernier for Hall and a 2nd" is plain ridiculous. And that's an actual proposal by a deluded leafs fan on the other page, btw.
I don't care if the oilers get 1st overall. I gave up on that team due to the absolute mismanagement of their players and the lack of accountability in the executive branch. I haven't watched an oilers game since November and won't watch another until a major change is undergone. Along the lines of MacT and/or KLowe being fired. I'm as sick of it as anyone else. I still talk about and read about the oilers because I want to see changes made and the ship righted, but I refuse to support them by watching a game while they continue to be driven into the ground by the same clueless boys club.
What I DO care about is a team intentionally nose-diving to try and win the draft lottery. The Sabres are horrible, but still win the occasional game due to trying their butts off to. The leafs, who clearly have a better and more experienced team than buffalo, are coasting. How does a team like that get shut out 3-4 times in 10 games? Not by accident.
Now cram it, buddy.

18.) 09 Feb 2015
Wow! Why are you so angry chirp? If you need someone to talk to just let me know. I guess you don't like being called out for being a tool. Everybody on this site overvalues players, not just leaf fans. Not everyone knows as much about hockey as you.

19.) 09 Feb 2015
Over the course of this day I have seen a deal which was written by a journalist who writes on behalf of the sabres stating la would have to give up tyler toffoli martin jones and Jordan Nolan for myers and I think matt Hackett. I seen a guy on here who was proposing montreal trade pa parenteau who is out with a concussion for a 3rd round pick. there are bad trades posted by all fan bases and its not always just by delusional fans. sometimes its done by people who are getting paid to write and talk about hockey. truth is nobody is going to post a trade which they think will hurt their team. I've seen a improvement for the most part on this site of the quality of trade proposals and I will give chirp some credit because his bashing [along with others]has probably got some of the delusional fans of every team to actually think a little before posting. but that being said if you wanna bash then you should also give props for a trade that isn't too bad or unfair.

20.) 09 Feb 2015
Hab: you're smart. I respect your posts and always read them fully and even if you had negative things to say about me I'd take them in stride because you probably have reasons for saying so and the knowledge to back it up.

Leafs17: you came here to whine and did so. Point made, now go away. You only give your fanbase an even worse name. You've contributed nothing but complaints and taken up space. If you want to have a legitimate debate, bring a legitimate argument to the table instead of cherry-picking like a stereotypical leafs fan and complaining that I don't think Eberle is only worth Aantorelli and a 3rd.
You took what could have been a talking point and turned it into a "poking the bull. " And you expect me to take you seriously? Jesus. You're pathetic. You want a debate, being a debate. Don't whine and then cower. Loser.

21.) 09 Feb 2015
You can't possibly take my statement of the hockey gods seriously. You got to be joking. I was just stating that the Leafs playing good and then crashing towards the end was a recent trend that they picked up 3 years ago. for the 7 straight seasons before 2012 they had always and always played bad early in the season and had to do catch up to try and desperately make the playoffs with little to no results. Ovies hero I really think we should not praise the hockey gods if the leafs starts the original trend and played good near the end of the season and fails to make the playoffs so we have a bad draft pick.

22.) 09 Feb 2015
I thought I did bring a debate up regarding how I feel the draft should work. You must have missed that thinking of names to call me. If you haven't noticed by now, 10 game losing streaks are quite common for the leafs. If they are tanking, no it is not right. Which brings us back to my idea in my first reply. My idea was up for debate. Your original reply was an attack on leaf nation. if you're able to gather yourself, let me know how bad my idea for the draft is.

23.) 10 Feb 2015
Leafs17,

your idea for the draft is how the draft works now. all non playoff teams are in the lottery with the worst team having a 20-25% chance at #1 and the best non playoff team around 1% ( I don't know the numbers i'm spit-balling. )

as far as all of this hilarious conversation happening, its hilarious keep it up.

24.) 10 Feb 2015
As far as the leafs are concerned i'm going to watch like I normally do and cheer when they win and cheer for real when they lose. the draft will bring good things to all teams involved. tee hee

25.) 10 Feb 2015
Good to know. I thought only the bottom 5 had a chance at the 1st overall.
