Why would blues trade a rookie top 4 lhd offensive dman and their top center prospest for a crappy dman and a leftwing player we don't need. Lol aweful.

Redwing, because that's what it takes to get pacioretty. I'm not saying the trade is perfect but you're not getting a consistent 35 goals scorer for nothing. I'm confident that if he is traded, Bergevin will be looking for the same kind of return Sakic got for Duchene ( 2 top prospects, pick) . Also, who knows how Thomas will play? Yes he's good but he still hasn't proved anything at the next level.

I agree with cou that bergevin will be looking for sakic-like return, the habs are stuck with him until he's worth a less return.

We don't need patches is easily broken down like this.

Jaybo will be out soon and is already on decline. Dunn a rookie beat out gunnerson for the final spot this year and has been super impressive his speed passing ability and shot has proven he will be Jaybo replacement in the future for years to come.

Statsny is ufa, usually like with steen, berglund, lehtera, eCT if Armstrong was planning on resigning him he would have extended him by now. So players like thomas, kyrou, Thompson will get a chance to step into the 2c 3c role next year. So they are needed 3 chances are better than one.

Also blues only legit rw on team is tarasenko, so we have lost in Thompson kyrou who could step into the 2rw 3rw roles next year. This is a need.

Blues already have schwartz, (better than patches) fabbri had great rookie season could return to form, steen, berglund, upshall role player, sobotka,

So when I say blues don't really need patches it's cause adding a 7th left winger to the team is not as important as keeping our youth and filling our positions of weakness with our great prospects and not selling from our weakness to add to our strength. It makes complete logical sense.

If Thomas hasn't proved anything at the next level yet . Then, why is he an absolute necessity for your team, for a proven scorer? Sounds like something i wouldn't want to take a " risk " with .

He is the best center prospect we have at 18 he is dominating ohl, he was best center for wjc. And on top of that every analyst, sports announcer bloggest ect has a hard on for him. Also blues have some of the best scouting around. Robert Thomas almost made the blues roster out of training camp. Just because you are not sure who he is doesn't mean he isn't good just like parayko. Everyone thought colt wasn't going to be anything and he is a pillar to blues defense.

At some point #1c centers have to be drafted. You can't trade for them and if you want to buy them in ufa they are at peak ready for decline. Just ask yourself this if he wasn't so good if he wasn't project ted to be a #1c then why does every team want him.

If he plays like a 1c in juniors at 18 and is thought of as a potential nhl 1c he performs in wjc as a 1c then by God he most likely is going to be a 1c as he matures.
