New to this site, always read but looks super fun
Anyhow my idea for a trade would be
Edmonton Oilers
Leon Draisaitl
Toronto Maple Leafs
Morgan Reilly
Helps the leafs rebuild, especially if they did win the draft and get Austin Mathews for 1-2 down the middle and Edmonton gets their top pairing D man. I know this leaves the leafs down a really good defensman so maybe Yandle can be signed in free agency?
Anyhow just new and looked fun hope to hear thoughts :)

@Chirp why? Draisaitl has 48 points in 65 games now (very impressive) but has slowed down considerably since that torrid start of his (as you guys often like to mention with Parayko) and it definitely doesn't hurt when you get to play with a top 10 winger in the NHL either. Yes Rielly only has 31 in 71 but when you that he only started to get PP time after the Phaneuf trade and the highest point scorer on the team only has 37 points I would say that's very impressive. Not to mention that he is playing 25 minutes a night against the other teams best players and has done a pretty good job of it despite playing with the turnover machine in Marincin.

Not a Chance from Toronto Rielly is about to establish into a # 1 Defencemen he is playing unbelievable lately getting 28 min a night. Toronto has Marner, Nylander, Kadri who can play Center not to mention the 20 percent chance at Matthews. And ill throw in the Stamkos sega because you all love it. We have absolutely no top D prospects which needs to be fixed can't win with just forwards. *cough* Oilers *cough*.

Interesting trade actually probably would benefit both players. When I watch Draisaitl play I see some similarities to Kopitar and anyteam would want that. If I were a GM I'd lean towards Reilly and probably would take him if he were RHD. Tough call, as others have said above both teams decline, would be an interesting proposal though.

The last thing Toronto needs to do is trade away Defensemen, especially when Mo is our only legit cornerstone on D. No disrespect to Oilers, Drais is a great young player but it doesn't really make sense to Toronto given they are likely to win Matthews and potentially land Stamkos. Draisaitl would be slotted as 3C which is an insult to a player of his calibre.
TL;DR
Both teams say no.

Hey guys thanks a tonne for reading so far! It's a blast reading comments.
And you know what I will admit I completely forgot about Nylander and manner so you are right. But just for the sake of argument, could you not have Marner on the RW like he has played before and roll 3 strong centres?
Otherwise yeah besides Gardiner I can't really picture a reason to get rid of Reilly.
