The L.A.-Tor trade I see this way
1. Richards has won everything there is to win in hockey: World JR, Memorial Cup, Olympics, AHL and 2 Stanley cups! Phaneuf World Jr.
2. Richards is a leader and if the Leafs are going to rebuild who would want to show younger players what it takes to win? Not Phaneuf.
3. Reason why Richards ice time has decreased is look at L.A's roster: Kopitar, Brown, Gaborik, Carter, Willams, Stoll, ect.
4. Richards = Winner, leader, champion

I have to wonder, if Hertl didn't have that 4 goal game last season that got his name on the map, would there be the same reaction to this trade proposal?
