2 trades for the Leafs to clear cap space plus take a step forward for next season

1st Trade
Edmonton Trades
Eberle
Fasth

Toronto Trades
Lupul
Phaneuf
Reimer

Arizona Trades
Yandle

Toronto Trades
Clarkson
Gardiner

Of course Lupul, Clarkson, and Phaneuf will have to waive there NTC and Lupul get off the LTIR but with were I see the Leafs going this year its time to clean house.

Thoughts?

Even though Yandle is a UFA at the end of the season there is ZERO chance that gets you Yandle. That package would get you a 3rd at best because of clarkson.

Arizona will not let go of Yandle or Gardiner and Clarkson. They will definitely be looking for a 1st Round Pick and atleast a young defenseman or a young forward

1st trade doesn't work for either team (Fasth is pending UFA and the Leafs are giving up a goalie that shows he's a playoff performer (collapse was not his fault against Boston) and a guy who can instantly be Edmonton's best DMan along with a quality winger when healthy and Edmonton gives up their second best winger. And the 2nd trade is horrible for the Coyotes. Gardiner has value but not enough for Yandle and Clarkson scoring one goal last night doesn't change the fact he might have the worst contract in the league - at least one of the worst.

7 games is far from an adequate sample size to call reimer, or anyone, a playoff performer.

While I think the second one is an under pay for the Leafs the first one I feel is fair. Lupul is hurt too often effective when healthy but hey too much to have much value with that contract. I'd say Eberle has more value than dion and the fasth-rirmer difference helps make it up. Lupul value in this trade is more to Toronto as a salary dump. Edmonton may add a bit but not much in my opinion

The first trade seems to be on track, but frankly I don't think Arizona wants Gardiner bad enough to take on Clarksons salary, no team is willing to do that
