Apparently Tampa Bay has interest in Phaneuf, so here is an unlikely proposal.

Leafs: D. Phaneuf (50% retained), 3rd(2016)
Lightning: S. Koekkoek, E. Brewer(to make the cap work)

Koekkoek sure is worth more for TBs future than Phaneuf.
Make it only Brewer and a lower prospect and its okay.

Koekkoek is the main value of the deal, he went 10th overall in 2012. Brewer was used to make cap space work, so that Tampa wouldn't be above the cap. However, I suppose the Leafs could take M. Carle back instead for more value, but them Leafs would probably have to sweeten the pot a little

Yeah let's ignore that in the last 3 seasons Bailey and Franson have almost the same offensive production in the last 3 years.

They're almost identical to Oilers in many ways. Lots of talent, bad front office, coach not a good fit = constant underperforming

@topdawg: How about you think first. The main piece going to TOR is Koekkoek, 10th overall 2 years ago, very solid d prospect. Brewer is, as he said, to make the cap work.
But still, TB isn't doing this.
