- I.

1.) 18 Dec 2015 23:17:37
I'm not sure about this one Talbot hasn't been great and same with Bernier but I don't think the Leafs would have to add all of that on top of Bernier. They would add on Bernier of course but it seems like a lot for someone who isn't playing very well.

2.) 18 Dec 2015 23:36:27
Oilers have no need for Polak, Leivo. Talbot>Bernier. Oilers have no incentive to do this.

3.) 19 Dec 2015 00:07:33
Not a chance Oilers consider this even for a second. So bad for them. They are perfectly content with the goalie battle at the moment. Zero need to trade Talbot for that package.

4.) 19 Dec 2015 01:38:56
I agree /, Talbot and Nilsson is the perfect tandom for the Oilers especially once they start re-building prospect depth under new scouts (better goalie drafting) . Talbot and Reimer/Sparks would do wonders with Babcock in Toronto though.

5.) 19 Dec 2015 07:43:37
Also most people don't take into consideration the 50 contract max. Most teams are around 48/49. A team can't take on 2 more contacts, that completely erases any chance for them to make a trade at the deadline.

According to some source (forgot the source, someone remind me, lol), Burke, Treliving and an assistant GM of the Flames were at the Leafs game. The source says they were looking at Leafs goalie Bernier.

If I could, I'd look at this deal being done:

To Toronto: Ladislav Smid/Derryk Engelland, Jonas Hiller
To Calgary: Jonathan Bernier, 5th Round Pick

then flip either one of Smid/Engelland to Hawks for Bickell.

In essence, Hawks free up cap; Flames get a goalie to TRY and help their mess; and Leafs get a PF in Bickell and something of a backup in Hiller.

1.) 17 Dec 2015 04:32:24
Twitter. This was all over it last night. It was assumed they were there to look at Bernier, but nothing conclusive to suggest that. Shouldn't be huge news but it involved Brian Burke and, for some reason, people still ohh and aww when he does anything. Apparently being arrogant and liking "truculence" makes you a king. Never understood it.

Anyhoo, sorry about the tangent. The deal you outline isn't too bad, including the flip to the Hawks. Smid is kinda pricey tho, isn't he? For his occasional usage? I honestly can't remember his cap hit, but might require some retention even with taking on Bickell. Cap space is hella valuable to the Hawks this year.

2.) 17 Dec 2015 04:59:06
What mess? Calgarys just out of playoff spot, get your facts straight.

3.) 17 Dec 2015 05:27:23
calgary is alo tied for 6th last in the league. the pacific division is a mess. you might want to get your facts straight.

4.) 17 Dec 2015 08:06:38
It doesn't really matter where they are in the league if they can climb to top three in the division there playoff bound and two spots are up for grabs.

5.) 17 Dec 2015 09:08:03
Of course it doesn't matter where they are in the league in terms of the playoffs with this new horrible format, and that wasnt my point. my point being that they are in fact tied with a few others for 6th last in the league. at approximately the 30 game mark of the season it is no longer a fluke or bad run, so they are obviously a mess when what was expected of them before the season is taken into consideration. the only thing saving them is the stupid format and the fact that everyone else in their division, aside from LA, is doing just as poorly.

6.) 17 Dec 2015 16:02:05
Don't really wan't Hillers Contract.

7.) 17 Dec 2015 16:59:46
bud hillers contract expires at the end of the year so it would go off the books and Bernier has one more year so that's the positive in a trade like this. I don't believe leafs would want bickell at all.

8.) 17 Dec 2015 17:35:06
Ohh i thought it was 1 more your right.

06 Dec 2015 23:24:19
Jets could use some help on the third line, considering that they are playing Chris Thorburn there. Let me take a whack at a couple o' trades.

To Buffalo Sabres:
Eric Comrie
Axel Blomquist
5th Round Pick

To Winnipeg Jets:
Jamie McGinn
Matt Donovan

Brings in a good third/fourth line helping hand for the Jets
Brings in a good goalie prospect for the Sabres.
Maybe add a pick going Winnipegs way?
___

To Columbus Blue Jackets:
2nd Round Pick 2016
Chase De Leo
Ondrej Pavelec (IR)
Jay Harrison

To Winnipeg Jets:
Kerby Rychel
Rene Bourque

Brings in a better backup for Columbus
Brings in some decent picks for Columbus
Columbus gets a better player for almost even salary

Winnipeg gets a talented forward to help their top 9.
Winnipeg ships off a goalie who would have no use; Hellebyuck is playing just fine.

Lineup:

Ladd - Little - Wheeler
Rychel - Scheifele - Stafford
Perreault - Burmistrov - Ehlers
McGinn - Lowry - Thorburn/Copp

Byfuglien - Enstrom
Myers - Trouba
Stuart - Pardy/Chairot/Postma

Hellebyuck
Hutchinson

*Much better team now; while not losing too much future.
*If the goalie tandem seems weak, WPG can roll with them for now, maybe sign a veteran goalie in free agency (Ward maybe? )

Thoughts?!

1.) 07 Dec 2015 00:33:15
Seems like to much going to Buffalo on the 1st trade.

2.) 07 Dec 2015 00:49:52
The buffalo trade is awful for Winnipeg.

3.) 07 Dec 2015 01:53:38
First trade is horrible and unnecessary. the reason thorburn is on the third is because he deserves it he has been playing well.

Leafs rest of the season.

By end of December:

Toronto waives Forward Byron Froese; is claimed by New Jersey Devils

____

January.

Toronto trades forward Michael Grabner to New York Rangers in exchange for Forward Tanner Glass and a 5th Round Pick and a 7th Round Pick

Toronto trades goaltender Jonathan Bernier to Winnipeg in exchange for 3rd Round Pick and 4th Round Pick (Winnipeg then waivers Ondrej pavelec)

_____

February.

Toronto trades forward Nick Spaling to Anahiem in exchange for Michael Sgrabossa

Toronto trades forward Shawn Matthias to Colorado in exchange for Dennis Everberg and a 3rd Round Pick and a 4th Round Pick

______

March.

Toronto trades Brad Boyes and Matt Hunwick to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for goaltender Nicklas Backstrom and a 2nd Round Pick

Toronto trades James van Riemsdyk and Matt Frattin and Stuart Percy to Calgary in exchange for David Jones, Oliver Kylington, 1st Round Pick 2017 (non-lottery protected) and a 3rd Round Pick

Toronto trades Martin Marincin to Columbus in exchange for a 3rd Round Pick and a 7th Round Pick

Lineup after deadline:

Komarov - Kadri - Nylander
Parenteau - Holland - Jones
Baertschi - Winnik - Higgins
Glass - Carrick - Everberg

Phaneuf - Gardiner
Rielly - Corrado
Harrington - Brennan

Reimer
Sparks

May be delusional, but oh well! Rip me up boys, lol.

Jordiebenn

1.) 01 Dec 2015 01:27:28
I like most of the trade but I'd like to keep spalling.

2.) 01 Dec 2015 01:54:01
I really hate that deal as a Canucks fan. We don't need Bozak. H. Sedin, Suter, Horvat, McCann. Try again.
Too much for Boyes and Hunwick, maybe a 3rd?
The JVR trade is brutal.

3.) 01 Dec 2015 02:45:51
Vancouver lol.

4.) 02 Dec 2015 16:03:24
Cgy isn't giving up the 1st rounder.

23 Nov 2015 22:56:12
To Boston:
Roman Polak

To Toronto:
4th Round Pick
5th Round Pick

Lets Corrado play! I want to see Corrado play over Polak!

Jordiebenn

1.) 25 Nov 2015 03:11:34
2 picks for Polak? maybe a 7th rounder...

27 Oct 2015 23:35:37
This is probably very unrealistic:

To Buffalo:
James Reimer
Tyler Bozak
5th Round Pick

To Toronto:
Matt Moulson
2nd Round Pick
3rd Round Pick (Dallas)

Too bad? What should be added? Can this deal ever go through?

Jordiebenn

1.) 28 Oct 2015 00:10:16
Buffalo has Oreilly, Eichel, Gerginsons and Reinhart can play center as well, What do they want to trade a solid top 6 winger for Bozak for?
Right now I would value Moulson more than Bozak for Buffalo and a 2nd and 3rd is too much for Reimer.

2.) 28 Oct 2015 01:21:08
Sabres could've had Ramo off waivers for nothing and if they passed on that I don't see them making a trade for a goalie in the near future. Looks like Johnson is a lock for the #1 spot til Lehner returns.

I've got to say; leafs pass.

Andersen is a good goalie, no doubt; but I'm not giving up JVR for him. I'd rather draft q quality goalie, and get a good haul for JVR (high end prospect, 1st, etc) . i'd love to see what Dermott has to do; he's been invited to team Canada; aybe we've got a nice gem in him. And we don't have Pittsburghs second; gave it back in the Kessel deal; so if we were trading a 2nd it wold be our relatively high second. So, even with theodorel i'd still say no from leafs.

No. Faulk is too precious for CAR to give up, he's their sole GOOD d-man. Pouliot is good, but adding in a cap dump just makes CAR. say no.

Imo, I belive Stammer will come to the Leafs. Now hear me out.

I know there'll be a ton of hate, but i think that Stamkos just won't be able to stay in TB. TB has players who can fill the role just fine (Johnson, Drouin) . Now I'm not saying TB won't miss him, which they WILL. But if TB can manage a fair trade for themselves to get Stammer out (and maybe ship Carle and his contract out too) then why not do it? You'd be looking at a highly talented prospect, probably 2nd liner player, 1st round pick, and another player at minimum. I mean, Stammer IS a star player, but if you a have a team of MANY good players, its much more worth it.

Just say Stammer gets traded to, just say. Vancouver? (not saying he will go there but JUST FOR EXAMPLE) .

Tampa Recieves: Bonino, Virtanen/Horva (whichever makes trade more fair), 1st, Hamhuis, 2nd
Vancouver Recieves: Stammer, Carle

Thats the return Stammer could get. And Tampas lineup WILL be affected, but they still have a very solid core of players (Drouin, Johnson, Palat, Hedman, Bishop, Virtanen/Horvat) . That team, in the future could probably win a cup; with or without Stamkos. If Yzerman were to do the smart thing, he'd ship Stammer off for AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, he'd have cap to resign the rest of his core and get a lot of haul for Stammer.

Now I'm pretty sure that TOR won't trade for Stamkos, but if a deal was made and Stammer was involved, I'm pretty sure he won't stay there (unless he completely LOVES in, rips it apart there, maybe 40 points in 25 games? and wins a cup), so I think the only place that Stammer would go to are TOR and TB. If TB had traded him, then I would guess that they wouldn't bid for him. So that makes TOR, one of the most logical places. As well, if Stammer goes to TOR in free agency, it makes some sense to him, as in possibly 3-4 years, the team would be close to being a cup contender, and he'd still be in his prime.

Anyways, rip me up :D.

Toronto shoots 52 shots. Some glorious chances in there too.

If not for Price, Montreal would be absolute dirt, they have no real offence and their defence is decent

Plus, to be outshot is fine, but doubled and that too to Toronto? Good Jesus man.

Erikson, Vrbata, Boedker will all cost signifcantly more.

Purcell is absolute dirt

Jagr may cost less.
