If you really disect the BUF-WPG blockbuster it turns out to Kane being worth 2 pretty good prospects and a mid-first. With the Leafs reported interest in Drouin could they get Drouin, Ikonen, Carle, Tampas first for Kessel 1 mil retained, mcKegg and Franson

THE DUKE

1.) I'm sure Toronto would love that but. why would tampa do that? Kessel even a mill retained makes it hard for them to resign all the players they need to resign in the next few years Carle is replaced with franson which helps for 2 months till he leaves. Tampa has a glut of forwards already and it will cause lineup issues. Not to mention this is Drouin your talking about he's scored almost a ppg in every game he has more than 15 min. Not saying he's better than kessel but he will get there and Is much cheaper.

2.) Everyone will say kessel is not worth drouin one for one , cause everyone on every trade site are leaf haters and think all leafs are woth nothing

3.) So glad these Evander Kane posts are over with!

4.) Horrible for Tampa

5.) Horrible for Tampa

6.) 12 Feb 2015 08:12:49
Drouin (in trade value) >= Kessel
1st >= McKegg, Franson
Leaves Ikonen, Carle and a 1st.
Anyways, jbs already explained why this has zero sense for TB.

7.) Alright Kessel >= Drouin
Franson Mckegg = 1st
I've heard you say multiple times that you would like to dump Carle so it sounds like he has negative value, and who's Ikonen?

8.) 12 Feb 2015 22:03:15
^even if that was true, there would still be the 1st.
Ikonen is a good F prospect. Not spectacular but pretty good two-way play. Prolly a poor mans version of Ondrej Palat.
Who's McKegg btw?

I said I would like to unload Carles contract because we have more than enough puck moving defenseman and should rather use the money we pay him for a defensive dmen. doesn't mean he has negative value. Because other teams might need exactly that type of player. 5.5m per isn't a great deal, but sure no negative value.
Oh, and Drouins trade value is definitely higher than Kessels.

We get the donut eating **** out of our town

THE DUKE

Stupid trade

2.) Its a joke

3.) Wouldn't trade treliving straight across for phanuef you will need to sweeten the deal ;)

THE DUKE

Richards is on waivers. Why trade for him?

2.) Rangers don't have a 2015 first. Although that doesn't matter that's a bad deal for them and LA will never give up Pearson for scraps so don't count on that either

3.) @seabass2011 . because Toronto does not have cap room to claim him. they would have to take salary back

4.) Richards is still fairly serviceable and by taking on his contract(which is cheaper than Phaneuf's) we would be getting a young player in Pearson for less than fair value for doing LA a favour. Plus it somewhat fills both teams needs.

5.) Its been said that toronto asked for pearson or toffoli in the phanuef for richards deal and that's why the whole thing fell apart

6.) ^ and when they offered Clarkson, LA asked for Gardiner lol

7.) Col has no 2nd this year , col doesn't need an overpaid 3rd line center

8.) ^ yeah they already have. and how is Bozak overpaid?

24 Jul 2014 00:36:28
NYR: D. Brassard, A. Duclair, Conditional 2nd (becomes a 2016 1st if Brassard doesn't sign)

SJ: J. Thornton

THE DUKE

Let me retry these

CBJ: Ryan Johansen
BOS: T. Krug, C. Soderberg, 1st, 3rd

MTL: P.K Subban, 4th
DAL: V. Nickushkin, T. Daley, 1st, 3rd

Col: Ryan O' Reilly
TML: N. Kadri, J. Gardiner, 2nd

THE DUKE

1.) Would rather give COL Bozak. He has ties to Denver and Kadri is homegrown

2.) To much for O Reilly

3.) Why would bs give up krug try this

CBJ: Johensen
BOS: boychuck soderberg kelly caron ferlin 2015 2nd 2016 4th

and then trade mcquaid plus good prospect for 2015 second

4.) No thanks from COL.

5.) Not bad but still for subban you need more I mean This trade would be good for a Max pacio but for subban you need more but it was bether then the first one you try

All the Patrick Sharp trades so far have been awful, he lead the Hawks in points this year and he is not that old, they won't let him go for nothing. At the least he should got for a 2nd line roster player, a B prospect and a 2nd.

THE DUKE

1.) He won't be traded anyway so all this trade talk on here is mere filler

Leafs lines with the D. Booth signing:

J.Van Riemsdyk - T.Bozak - P.Kessel
J.Lupul - N.Kadri - M.Frattin
L.Komarov - P.Kontiola - D.Clarkson
D.Booth - M.Santorelli - P.Holland

F Scratches: C.Ashton, T.Smith

D.Phaneuf - S.Robidas
J.Gardiner - R.Polak
M.Rielly - C. Franson

D Scratch: P. Grannberg

J.Bernier - J.Reimer(?)

Shanahan said that they were leaving spots open for players like Leivo, Nylander, McKegg, Carrick, Broll, Devane and MacWilliam to compete for, so much for that. Also I think Ashton should take the spot I have Holland in because Holland is actually a centreman, but there are no open centre spots, so I put him on the wing. Another option would be to moke Kadri to a second line wing position and put Holland in the second line centre position and move Frattin to fourth line wing.

THE DUKE

1.) I think Holland will centre the 4th line and Bodie will be in the line up over Kontiola - in fact I wouldn't be surprised if Kontiola gets sent to the Marlie at some point.

2.) 24 Jul 2014 16:28:45
holland would have to play EXTREMELY well to even get a shot at top 6 without injuries

3.) ^ yeah, besides he's way more valuable as a C in the bottom six (seeing as Komarov, Santorelli and Kontiola all have played wing).

really outside of the 2nd line RW spot, the top 6 is pretty much set in stone. Doubt Holland plays off wing, just because

4.) Is it just me or is Ashton terrible? I'd almost rather Orr in the lineup. One of those young kids you mentioned, probably Leivo or Devane will make the team. I'd like to see them give Nylander some time to develop. When he does, package Kadri for a #1 center or defenseman.

5.) 25 Jul 2014 21:15:00
yea I agree with sending nyander back to juniors, even though he'd likely dominate. the argument that he played with men in sweden I don't give much credit to, not only is the quality of players in the NHL far superior, there is actual body contact here unlike europe.

Some random blockbuster trades, feel free to make your own or comment about the values. All of these will never happen:

Pit: S. Crosby
Mtl: M. Pacioretty, B. Gallagher, 1st(2015), 1st(20160

SJ: L.Couture
Bos. P. Bergeron, 4rd(2016)

Fla: A. Ekblad, J. Huberdeau, N. Bjustad
Nsh: S. Jones, R. Josi, F. Forsberg

Buf: S. Reinhart, C. Hodgson, T. Ennis, 3rd
Cgy: S. Bennett, M. Backlund, M. Giordano

THE DUKE

1.) That package would not land you any top 10 player let alone crosby. You would have to add galchenyuk price subban and another 2 top prospects.

2.) Mtl adds. The other trades it comes down to personal opinion of a player and how you view some prospects ceiling and chance of success etc.

3.) It would take Price/Subban, Gallagher/Galchenyuk, Paciorety a 1st and probably a 2nd as well to get Crosby

4.) Decent value from montreal

underpayment by boston, bergeron+hamilton for coutoure based on his age

fla nash trade is fair, but neither team would pull the trigger.

buffalo wins the cgy trade. backlund and giordano are more valueble right now than ennis and hodge, bennet and reinart is a coinflip

5.) No way Boston adds a 4rd ;)

When trading franchise players you can almost never win a trade, in the actual NHL these values would be pretty close, especially considering the fact that all 3 player aren't currently under contract. Just look at the Spezza trade, Ottawa got worse than any of these proposals and Spezza was even under contract for a year still and has way more exerience than all 3 of these players.

Koekkoek is the main value of the deal, he went 10th overall in 2012. Brewer was used to make cap space work, so that Tampa wouldn't be above the cap. However, I suppose the Leafs could take M. Carle back instead for more value, but them Leafs would probably have to sweeten the pot a little
