RNH would have to be signed to a team friendly deal for this to even be a thing. An expiring contract on a guy that will want a significant raise is not worth this much.

As soon as they traded all that for him, he would have all the leverage to get way more than he’s worth or they would waste all those assets for nothing.

This move would potentially be purely for a deep playoff push. I don’t see rnh being the biggest upgrade of Danault. Yes offensively better but I believe Danault is a better defensive player which the habs need to keep. After this season I see Nuge asking for 6-7 million per year which the habs just can’t afford to keep.

Danault is also a UFA to be and not as good as RNH. Mete probably wouldn’t make Edmonton considering there left side is pretty deep. The first is obviously nice but not worth losing Nuge. Also he’s not getting a significant raise, probably 250k-750k. Danault will probably get more of a raise.

I really don't see RNH as better than Danault. he may have a slight edge cause he has better offensive numbers. but his numbers don't scream out add a young depth ( with some talent) dman, and a 1st.

RNH is a career 60 point guy and Danault 40. He’s also a very good defensive player, if he would’ve gotten better at faceoffs he would’ve been in the Selke convo consistently IMO.
