Preface: I did not come up with this trade, I read it from somewhere. I am sharing this purely to assess value. Not saying it will happen or my opinion on this. Just literally posting what I saw.


WPG: Laine

Buffalo: Ristolainen, Sheary and 2 1st round picks

Read that Buffalo gave the Jets this mega offer. Can't confirm truth or legitimacy but just want to see if the value they mentioned is close. This is regardless of whether the Jets are interested in trading Laine or not. Purely a value measurement.

Thoughts?

Interesting trade but I just don't like either Risto and Sheary. I would rather see the Jets get a true 1/ 2 D-man or a top center plus picks which few teams would part with. I still don't believe the Jets will trade Laine at this time.

The value is there and this trade proposal is the best I've heard of thus far. Unless you're memarcusjoe, this trade holds value. As for whether it will happen or not I think Buffalo is one of the only teams that could make this trade work with a Laine contract and cap space, and holds the trade pieces Winnipeg would ask for.

If you don't understand hockey, this trade might make sense. In reality it is wishful thinking proposed by a Sabres writer.

Sheary is UFA after this season, a winger that the Jets have zero need for and a 4th liner to boot. So doesn't hold much value.

Ristolainen is just bad, has requested a trade and shouldn't really interest the Jets. So low value there.

The two firsts are nice, but all in all pretty easy for the Jets to turn down.

Verbz, thanks for sharing. Saw it as well. That could be a steal in the short term. Question is how much he will want to stay based on Jets performance the next couple years with a less experienced defence.

I have never been happier to be done having to post Laine trades. At least until he becomes an RFA again.

Way too much for Laine. Ristolainen gets almost as many points playing defense. Buffalo still rebuilding will keep their picks. Laine and Eichel would be the most selfish line in the league.
