It is also time for Pens to slowly think about the future. Yes Crosby and Malkin and even Kessel are still top line players and will be for a while yet.

Sosa, Rutherford today said he doesn't care and isn't thinking about a rebuild in 4/ 5 years whatever from now. He's going in for another cup, wants 3 in a row. Wants to add another D man and probably a center. They have carried 8 healthy D men each the last two playoffs and won the cup, looking to probably do the same this year.

I agree why worry about the future now when you should focus and creating history and win now. I’m just saying 2 first round picks done right can get them a lot but is it really worth it for a player you know you can’t afford? Look at the moves Rutherford has made, pays a lot for guys like Hornqvist, Kessel, Hagelin and Bonino but He inkwell they were more than rentals while he payed very little for guys like streit, Hainsey and schultz cause he knew those were pure rentals although the managed to sign Schultz but cause he was still an RFA and had value.

Big time gamble by Pittsburgh with the future of their franchise to do the 3 peat.
Islanders are close to playoffs, so Tavares going shows the fanbase that already has money collected for billboards to get rid of snow that they give up this year.

Good value I think for a rental.
Good trade for Pittsburgh to try for the 3 peat.
