Values there but Edmonton wouldn’t do it.

I'd say to much from Edmonton depending on where that pick is could be number one.

I wouldn't do this If I were Edmonton. they need more of a Doughty, Peitrangelo type, good all around 2 way guy. Not a Karlsson type. the offense runs through him, and that's where he needs to go. to a team that he can be that. Oilers have some guy up front the offense goes through. and he's pretty good at it.

Sorry, Completely Unrealistic return. Karlson's play is already on the downward trend.

Karlsson's term left is not long enough to get so much in return. If he was signed longer term at reasonable cap hit, it might be worth consideration.

I'd say Yammoto and a protected 1st would be the best you could hope for to attain Karlson's RENTAL SERVICES before he bolts for 10 - 15M a year in free agency. Karlson and Doughty have both put the leagues GM's on notice that a massive payday is a coming.

Best to keep away from BOTH of these 2 players with anything more than a rental rate in return.

It's reasonable on both ends. Can't see why Edmonton would say no to this and the value is good for ottawa too. it would have to be a deadline day deal though.

Ottawa gets a solid 2nd center a decent top 4 defenceman who would do well with chabot a prospect with a little bit of hype and with 2 high draft picks this year they could definitely make up for the loss of karlsson and up their chances of winning the draft lottery.

While Edmonton guarenteed an upgrade on defence and gets an unreal 1 2 combo with EK AND mcdavid and with Larsen on karlsson's line it's like an instant massive upgrade to methot who has been karlsson's best defense partner so far.

I actually like this for both sides.

I would absolutely do this deal, however the oilers would still need a shutdown left defensemen to play with Karlsson. But the just gave up their major assets in this deal to get Karlsson. (definitely not playing Nurse with him, maybe Russell could step up, but if he plays like he did this year so far. well you know where I am going with this.

Oilers
Pros- powerplay would be up at the top 5 in the league. Teams would be scared to take penalties against the Oilers, playing them not as aggressive equals more wins for Edmonton. Next season they would be at 100 plus points.
Solidifying the top two right hand D slots

Cons- have traded away a lot of assists to get one player, including the best valued defensemen on the team. Klefbom at $4,167,000 till 22-23 season is a great deal. Also giving up RNH which at some point will have to go, he is the odd man out even though he as been the Oils best all around player this year.

Ott
Pros- getting a ton of young assets to build around.
Klefbom- established top four D at a good cap hit with an big upside
RNH - solid 2 way forward in the NHL which I actually think he is better on the defensive side of the puck.
Yamamoto - could be a very interesting NHL pro or could fade away, but could be the next best thing at 5'7
And a high 1st round

Cons- loose one of only two real rover style defensemen in the league. It would be a huge loss to them and their fans.

Final thought.
Ott doesn't actually have the cap space to pull this trade off, and would leave them close to the cap limited and needing to resign Stone and Ceci.

So a actually don't see this trade happening from the Ottawa side.
