Kypreos said at intermission that if eugene melnyk was looking to shed salary, a good asset to move would be hoffman. He suggested the oilers to be a good fit, for picks and prospects. I don't see the deal proposed for pacioretty believable because it doesn't really meet that criteria.

Why would hoffman be the person to go to shed salary? lol. he making like 5.1m, which is a great contract for a first line LW. and why not shed Dion or Bobby's contracts? lol. just doesn't make sense.

I’m sure they would prefer to shed dion or Ryan but they are a lot harder to move. You can shed those salaries and get nothing for them while losing a top 6 winger and a top 4 d who aren’t bad players, just over paid or you move Hoffman and you’re still short a top 6 winger but would actually get good assets back to help fill that hole.

Or you can do neither of those things and just keep all three. just a lateral move. first line LW for first line LW and a prospect. Besides its especially moronic if you're making this move solely to shed cap, since you're only saving 600k . plus after 2 yrs we would have to give Patches a hefty raise, yet Hoff would still be making 5.1 for 3 more years at that time.

Yeah lol I’m not saying it makes sense for the sens. Just saying that’s why Hoffman/ Stone could be gone before Ryan or phaneuf. Just a value thing.

lol I don`t think Ottawa wants or needs Patches and I believe if this happens Mtl gives prospect not Ott.
