Thoughts?

I think it makes sense. Both fan bases seem to over value their own guy on here, and undervalue the other but I think it’s close. Habs would be gaining 1.5 mill in salary but they have tons of space and it’s cap certainty on a younger player for 3-4 years. Unless he really starts putting up numbers they could probably keep him after that without a much of a raise at all (depending on market of course) . Patches 4.5 cap hit is great for his production but that’s only for another year, then he will be 7+. Oilers may not be able to pay that but could hope that a constant home on Mcdavids wing could have him take a little less.

MTL4LIFE, doesn’t matter what is said, your answer is “Not trading him”. You have said that about patches, galchenyuk, even lehkonen was untouchable in one of your posts lol. Do you not realize that the habs have not assembled a good team? People do/ will have to be moved and probably a core player pretty soon. I get it if you said “not for RNH” or “Oilers need to add” but why be on a trade forum if you just say your last place team is perfect and no one can be traded?!

No from edmonton . personally I think nuge should stay seems like he is doing a great job and is destined to be an oiler for awhile assuming the team doesn't totally fall apart. don't get the critics on him he is a great player . not his fault he ain't no mcdavid. and we can find the money and we will.

actually its because Danault is playing really well and Drouin is fine as our #1 center for now so we don't really need RNH.

Agree with you Jim so I'll tell you why it's bad. RNH is a overpaid third liner who could get better with a new team but I'm not taking the gmab le with Patches involved. Patches could get 80% of Drai. So if Edm are interested in Patches I'm sure mtl could add Julsen and a pick to him for Patches. But a deal around Hopkins for Patches would have to be an add from Edm.
