S. Falkovsky for N. Bastian

Both fill a need for their respective teams. Bastian comes in a perhaps Calgarys best RW prospect despite his current struggles and Falkovsky becomes one of the best defense prospects in New Jersey.

Np. Nathan Bastian is a large (6 foot 4) RW that plays a power forward game. He is struggling in the OHL this season despite playing with high end line mates. He was drafted 41st overall in 2016. Calgary has next to none decent RW prospects.

Stepan Falkovsky is a monster (6 foot 7) on the blue line. He plays a good two way game and has taken a huge step this year posting 32 points in 54 games in the ECHL. He is left handed and could make the jump to the AHL next year. New Jersey lacks defense prospects and have better RW and forward prospects than Bastian.

Their worth about the same because Falkow ski is actully looking to be a steal at 7 Rd. HE'S really improving his defensive play and with his style and size plus the fact that he's pretty offensive for a 250 pound guy he's quite interesting.

Hahaha. Yeah, let's trade a prospect who we really like and drafted high who is having one bad year for an ECHL defenceman who might not even make the jump to the AHL permanently.

whoop de doo.

Ok TysonBarrie2 I see where you're coming from. He was drafted quite a bit higher and they're may value him quite a bit but if they came can move him to be more well rounded then it makes sense.

We are not talking about one bad season in the NHL we are talking about season as a 19 year old in the OHL with one of the best teams in the OHL. I know it's only one season but with that poor of a season it almost guarantees that he is back in the OHL next season unless he is spectacular at training camp. Every season he is not playing pro decreases his value.

I would argue that Falkovsky has a greater chance of playing the AHL next season than Bastian. He is playing outstanding for his rookie year in the ECHL which I would argue is a bit harder than the CHL.

While it does not house the elite talent that the CHL does it is made up of more men and teams are more well rounded. Falkovsky will almost definately be playing in the AHL next season.
Whoop de doo.

Honestly. I don't care who has the better chance to play in the AHL next year. I care about who has a better chance to be an NHL differnce maker in their career. Right now that's Bastian. Players in the ECHL very rarely turn into NHL players of any kind let alone a difference maker.

Ok but Bastian is not even being a big difference maker in the OHL. Falkovsky might not become a difference maker in the NHL but I would argue that he has a greater chance of making the NHL.

Interesting offer but I think Calgary stays with the big late blooming kid.

I wouldnt. He likely goes AHL the year after he's done juniour and his skill set lends to a shutdown and pk role. He has a better chance than an ECHL player to make the NHL ECHL players almost never work their way up.
