Way too much for shattenkirk

Shatty would be worth this if he had a 6-7 year contract at 4 million dollars. he'd be worth that if he had that contract because he's a star Defensemen. However this is not the case here, he is most likely going to be a rental for the playoff Wich puts his value closer to a top prospects and a late first

Not sure I would give up Cecil straight up for Shatter kirk. Both he and LandesKog are highly overrated on these boards.

Blues don't need cecci or ryan, Lazar is not going to last long in NHL . the only good part to the offer is the 17 1st. that's a start

Agree too much for the Shattenkirk rental of 3 months before he bolts to Free Agency, BUT.
Not a bad idea that might finally get Ryan's almost unmovable contract out of Ottawa.
Wouldn't it be better from Ottawa's point of view to just stay the course this season and buy him out instead of losing all the assets and still paying 40% of Ryan's Salary?

Renidrag said it pretty much right.
Id give a little more than Ceci bit not much.
And I don't know if i'd call Shattenkirk a star defenseman. a good one yes. when I think Star dman. I think Doughty, Karlsson, Burns, Hedman. ect. He doesn't quite fit with those guys

How is Ceci not a good part of the deal and how don't the Blues need him? He'd be second pairing rhd. A top 4 D, a fair priced second liner, a young bottom 6 player and a first is an overpayment.

Ottawa doesn't need to make these trades and won't. Also, for a team with a pretty shallow prospect pool can Ottawa really afford to have no 2nd or 3rd round picks in 2017 and 2018 as well as no picks in the first three rounds this year?

Not enough for Thomas Vanek.

Although i agree with it being an overpayment blues really don't need ceci or ryan maybe something around white and a first i'm not sure if sens would do that though.

here is our dfense corps. We don't need Ceci, Parayko is better and on ELC. Jordan schmaltz had 6 goals 30 assist as a rookie in AHL last year and is on pace for the same and due to injury will have played 15 less games the blues are loaded on D, LW, G, We need a few good C and RW prospects and if you think your going to dump Bobby ryans contract on us your crazy. The d-corps for blues is below. FYI Shatty will pull a 1st and prospect He is a 50+ pt puck moving PPQB dman. there are currently 5-6 teams that want him that will offer way more than that crap

edmundson Petro
Jaybo Parayko
gunnerson Bortuzzo
Lindbohm Jordan Schmaltz
Vince Dunn Jake Wallman

Massive over payment for shatty.

Colt, how can you possibly think that St Louis is loaded on goalies? and even your D. That left side looks pretty rough, especially with Bouwmeester declining with age.

It may look like bad for Ottawa on the surface, but you have to think that Ryan has arguably the worst contract in the NHL and practically cripples their cap situation. Colt overreacted a little bit but even though the package isn't that bad, I don't think St. Louis would be willing to take on that contract.

It's 40% retained. It's not that bad.

Really way too much for Shatty plus he won't play in Ottawa. Not worth the risk, He will leave the team at the end of the season so now Ottawa will lose the players they traded away + Shatty. They should trade for someone who will resign with the team. Besides the Sens should try and make a splash on the 2 top lines if they want to make sure Karlsson stays longer in Ottawa. They should focus on guys like Duchesne, Landeskog, Simmonds, Ladd, Eberle, E. Kane, Byfuglien
