Oilers:Eberle
Ottawa:Ryan and Lazar

Oilers get a finisher for the top line and a solid third liner. Ottawa gets rid of Ryans contract unretained.

Um no from Ottawa I'd assume and there's no way Edmonton could afford that.

I actually wouldn't mind it.

Edmonton can afford it with a 23 man roster and a pile coming off the books after this season. Oilers have plenty of cap space.

If Lazar gets any better then Ottawa loses this deal. Maybe with a pick coming back from Edmonton as well.

They might have cap space now but adding cap for the future in a sideways move seems kinda dumb.

Cap space this year yes in Edmonton, cap space next year no as Leon, Nurse need contracts, and the year after is probably the big payday for McD.
Edmonton has depth players already in the system that are far superior to Lazar, so unlikely Edmonton would want him included in the trade.

Retention of 40% for Ryan straight for Eberle may be a bit more likely for this swap as Ryan has a lot of term left to go.

Not a bad trade. But people I think are forgetting that Mcdavid has serious chemistry with lazar back in the world juniors. If this trade were to happen Edm would have 3 solid scoring lines. also lazar might not put up numbers similar to eberle but he will for sure provide a more solid 2 way play and defence when in line with mcdavid and lucic. Also just playing with mcdavid in general might just help him become a consistent 50-60point player

Line 1A: Lucic - Mcdavid - Lazar
Line 1B: Pouliot - Draisaitl - Kassian
Line 1C: Maroon - RNH - Ryan

Scary.

I'd hope move pouliot for magic beans at this point. Never seems to really fit on chias teams. Was super invisible in Boston and the same looks like it's happening again in Edmonton. He only gets noticed when he's called on a stupid penalty. I'm sure the team could find better places to put his cap hit as well.

Fair, what Oilers players in the system are far superior than Lazar? I'm not disagreeing with you (tho depends on who you are talking about) but Lazar is a great hockey player and I'd love it he was on the Oilers.
