CGY
Little Johnny

Toronto
Little Marner

Little J gets closer to the East Coast where he wants to be since Burkie doesn't feel he wants to pay primo bucks for him. Leafs have cap and gladly pay for a more proven asset.
Calgary gets cap relief and Marner/ Tkachuk combo that may be effective in 3-5 years.

Leafs have very little cap room and still need a back up goalie.

I'm super high on Marner but I think Calagry declines.

Gaudreau is a proven elite scorer (and quite good underlying numbers), Marner isn't. Not a chance Calgary takes this without a lot more coming.

That is absolutely awful for Calgary. A 75+ point player for a guy who hasn't even set foot in the NHL yet? I don't even think they would accept Gaudreau for Matthews tbh.

You know what I love Marner but i'd make that trade then I'd simply move out JVR and Michalk in a package for just a couple of picks And ELC's.

Leafs have a ton of cap space - as soon as the season starts they place Robidas, Lupul and Horton on the LTIR almost 14mill!

Not saying either team will do this trade as i believe Flames laugh
But to say the Leafs have no cap is a joke.

0% Calgary makes that trade. That's ridiculous.

leafs have lots of cap room. They still have yet to need to put Horton or robidas on LTIR. That's 8 mil right there. But marner isn't enough for Johnny hockey.

Why would Cal do this. Gaudreau is a 22 year old proven 30 goal score for Marner who is a star in junior playing against 17 and 18 year olds, many who won't play past junior. No one knows how he will react to being hit by larger faster NHL players. Gaudreau has proven he can handle that, Marner hasn't. yet.

Why would Calgary do this? Everyone seems to be forgetting that he is unsigned and is in a stalemate condition for his contract.
Burkie is unable or un-willing to pay him what he's worth and needs to move him. Might as well get a highly touted ( by Leaf fans) prospect back for Little J. while he's at his absolute peak value in his career.

Not a chance Calgary accepts. I love Marner but he ain't no Johnny Hockey.

Montreality I wouldn't say that I easily think he can Eventually be as good as Gaudreau or better but he has less value because he could be a bust.

If Gadreau was unhappy about how contact talks are going he would have filed for arbitration. Him and Monahan are working out every detail on their big contacts. They want to play together long term and make the same $$.
