No way. Just no. Karlsson

That's a big no from Ottawa. Karlsson means a lot more to this team than Malkin ever could. Karlsson is a top 3 defenseman in the league (in my opinion he is the best) and Ottawa would be foolish to makes this trade. Ottawa needs to improve their D, not trade their best one away.

@Stamkos16, if Pittsburgh decides to trade Evgeni Malkin they will guarantee a nice return. However, Erik Karlsson (one of the best Dman in the league despite his occasional poor defensive play) Mike Hoffman (nearly a 30 goal scoring rookie) and a 1st is a drastic overpayment.

@sensfan27: the best? Just remember actually playing D is a part of being a DEFENSEman as well. Not just offense. I know he improved, but definitely not the best

@Draisaitl he does play defense and he does it really well. He has the speed to catch almost any one in the league. He's quick with his stick to break up passes. He transitions the puck out of the zone like no one else in the league.

Sure he isn't bad at it. But he's far from being as elite as for example Weber or Doughty are defensively. Therefore, he's superior offensively.

What exactly does Weber and Doughty do better than Karlsson? They don't make risky plays? Is that what's makes them so elite? Cause that's all they do that Karlsson doesn't.
