It would be a Trade at the Draft and its fair for both with what each Team needs, this is a good Trade proposal for both Clubs.

Spezza signed an extension in Dallas just to get traded to Toronto?? No chance the deal makes absolutely no sense

Dallas is on the cusp of being a powerhouse in the west.

They need some Dfence Though.

Seguin and Benn are both on bargan contracts so they have cap room.
They should be going after Phaneuf via trade and Boychuck via FA if he becomes available.

Whether Spezza signed an extension or not is irrelevant to whether he is traded now, IMO. With the fluidity of teams now a days, it's not surprising if a team sours quickly on a player and/or contract. Now that's not say this trade is likely, bc it's not.

I would maybe see Lupul going to Dallas (With Horcoff and Peverly coming off the books). To your point stickboi, I agree and I could see them pushing hard after Franson, Sekera etc. in the offseason. Maybe Phaneuf makes sense too.

Dallas will be a bubble team for years to come. They have 2 of the top players in the game and that's it. Nichushskin can't stay healthy and the rest of the team is average at best. I don't think either team does this deal.

I think the value is close, not sure why other comments didn't even mention the value but you did a good job there.

I'm not sure if spezza has a no trade in his contract, but I doubt that he wants to play in toronto,
And I don't think toronto needs him at the beginning of a rebuild.

Spezza signing an extension months ago is relevant to whether he will be traded.lol.
Seeing as how teams very seldom trade players a couple months after signing them to multiyear contract extensions.
