Deadline re-tooling for the Flyers

PHI: B Schenn, L Schenn, draft pick
for
BUF: Myers

PHI: Lecavalier, Grossmann, Del Zotto, draft pick
for
EDM: Perron, Aulie

I would think the Sabres trade is fair. Helps both teams. Edmonton trade addresses team needs. Lecavalier would be a stop-gap center until Draisaitl is developed, Grossmann and DZ provide added blueline help for Edmonton (DZ is also a RFA). The reason for doing this trade is because next year Philly still has the rights to Erik Gustafsson, bring him back to play 3rd pair with Aulie, who would be a solid 3rd pair defender. Also gets Philly a LW which they desperately need. Bring back same players and here's what the lineup would look like in the future:

Raffl - Giroux - Voracek
Perron - Couturier - Simmonds
Umberger - Laughton - Read
Rinaldo - White/Bellemare - Akeson

Coburn - Myers
MacDonald - Streit
Aulie/Schultz - Gustafsson

Mason/Emery

Take out Lecavalier and Del Zotto (I don't think Flyers wanna trade him at this point), and replace them with B Schenn, I think you might have a deal.

Problem is, that won't solve the Oilers one bit.

Eakins and MacT (and FAAAAR beyond that, KLowe and Katz) are the problem. Katz won't be replaced because he owns the team and is a moron because he just can be. KLowe is his buddy so that idiot won't ever be gone regardless (he'll be further promoted if anything), MacT is KLowe's buddy so, ha, like he'll be replaced even though he is clueless, and Eakins' system just doesn't work. But that doesn't matter 'cause MacT removed the only coach who ever worked for the Oilers (Kreuger) and VIA SKYPE, FOR F__K SAKE!!. so Mac won't fire Eakins anytime soon either.

Really good Oilers players are flopping around in a firing range. They'll be good eventually, but it'll take a lot of shots before it looks good at all because mgmt is using guns with bent sights. This team is absurd. Has been for years. Trade Eberle or Yakupov soon, or if you really want to ride the dumb-train, keep diving deep and then trade an early pick for a solid dman. If the Oilers continue to flounder and take this 2015 pick, i'm done. That would be the dumbest move of the decade for this team. Either trade what we have and draft, or move that pick and improve. And its not a waiting game, we've all waited long enough. This team is an embarassment to hockey in general. F you all, Oilers.

That was pretty spooky. Haha
Sorry I robbed your post.

Your rant about the Oilers sounds like mine when Ruff was coach and Golisano was the owner of the Sabres. Regier would trade for talented players who could score and Ruff would try to mold them into his image, tough checkers. Regier had to trade Brian Campbel because cheapskate Golisano would not pay him what he was worth. The team lost Briere and Drury for the same reason. I am so happy to see that Ruff is no longer the coach. He actually makes Nolan look palatable ("The Village Motivator"). BTW, IMO Buffalo wins that trade hands down. Schenn has the talent to be a #1 center, Schenn is a very solid stay at home defenseman and Buffalo gets some sort of pick. The two Schenns are very young and still have a great chance to be better (so does Myers). Also I long advocated for Buffalo to sign Del Zotto. Loktionov and Setaguchi when they were free agents. One hit out of three would have been a good return on investment

@stanley I agree with you that Brayde Schenn has lots of potential, which is why he has high value. As for Luke Schenn, he is a decent defender (occasionally gets caught out of position), but not worth paying him 3.6 million to play 3rd pair. My goal here is to get cap space by dumping some bad contracts, and teams like Edmonton and Buffalo have cap room to take some contracts. Myers value is going to be overestimated because of how many teams want him and he'll go to the highest bidder, but the Flyers have so many assets that they can move. And with the defensive prospects they have, I wouldn't be too worried. But if you feel the Buffalo trade is a little off, maybe Buffalo sends a pick/prospect back. Hopefully a new team gives Myers a little boost or sigh of relief.

@TopShelf20 I agree with you. IMO if PHI offered the Schenns and a pick for Myers, he would be on the next plane to PHI.
