Sharks: Marleau ($6.667 M)

Lightning: Drouin, Carle ($6.394 M)

Marleau has asked to be traded in the past and his age is becoming a factor. Drouin has wanted out and would be a nice replacement for Marleau. Marleau can help the bolts win for the next couple years. Sharks could use another defenseman, Lightning want to trade Carle and in this case the cap works quite well.

Drouin>Marleau.

3.) 18 Jan 2016 01:36:11
Are u smoking crack what's next draistail> tarasenko. Lol.

4.) 18 Jan 2016 02:09:30
When can we make this happen? I'll personally bring marleau to the airport.

Btw Marleau never asked to be traded. There was rumours about him being traded so he told Doug Wilson 3 teams he would agree to if they really wanted to get rid of him.

5.) 18 Jan 2016 04:31:08
@russian tank

Are you on crack? Marleau is 16 years older than Drouin and is slowly declining in the twilight of his career. Personally, I think Marleau only became notable when Thornton showed up in San Jose, before that he was a better than average player. Drouin is a young left winger with a high ceiling that just needs to figure his game out, I am sure any team would take that over Marleau any day of the week.

Islanders: Hamonic, Bailey, Greiss

Jets: Byfuglien, Pavelec

About $440K in cap goes back to the Islanders

For the Islanders they get a top defenseman and a backup goalie. Pavelec's numbers have never been that great, and his contract goes through next year so it's not a huge cap loss and he could be a reasonable backup to Halak. Buff would bolster their blueline and getting rid of Bailey makes room for Dal Colle next year in their top 9. They take a little back in cap but still have room to re-sign Okposo and Buff after the season.

For the Jets they get a 25 year old top 4 defenseman who's signed long term for a reasonable 3.86 million and can put up good numbers. They also get a better goalie with much better numbers and a top 9 forward. Because of the near equal cap switch, it gives them more flexibility to re-sign Ladd and Trouba.

Let me add to the pile of Drouin rumors. Even though I think Anaheim will make the biggest play for Drouin because they need a scorer and have plenty of assets, I think Philly might be a dark horse team that makes an offer.

PHI: Brayden Schenn, Luke Schenn

TBL: Jonathan Drouin, Matt Carle

Flyers get a more dynamic LW that could actually be a top line LW (Brayden is more of a 2nd line) and they get a more mobile defenseman. Carle has low value right now (0 points in 33 games) but his past numbers have been much better and he would fit better with Hakstol's system than Luke. Both Schenns are still young and both contracts expire after this year which makes this deal plausible.

1.) 03 Jan 2016 22:11:05
Carle is making 5.5 Mil for the next 3 years. With Philly's (longterm ex: Umberger, MacDonald, Lecavalier) cap issues (I know the deal wouldn't put them over the Cap) and with their young D prospects coming up through the system, and their already excess of veteran D men, I would say no. The value is fair though.

2.) 03 Jan 2016 22:43:30
I think you're retarded honestly Luke Schenn is Literally garbage, Brayden's like a career 2nd liner and that gets you a 20 yr old 3 overall pick? And the Buddy with the first reply saying no from Philly you must be on some good crack holy sh! t.

3.) 03 Jan 2016 22:40:57
Value is only fair if your a flyers fan. Tampa says no easy.

4.) 04 Jan 2016 01:21:01
Was that serious post? Luke schenn can't be given away at the moment. Lol I know I have some bad ones but this one made me laugh. Maybe Philly adds some picks and keeps Luke schenn.

5.) 04 Jan 2016 01:58:25
Wow terrible value for Drouin, even with bad contract going with im, just so bad for Tampa. Give your head a shake.

6.) 04 Jan 2016 04:19:24
This only happens if the Flyers can move Streit, Schultz, and Lecavalier or buy out Lecavalier. Value is fair I think. Luke Schenn is regarded as one of the better passers on the Flyers blueline and is sound positionally, his only downfall is offensive production and footspeed. @Bud Both Schenns were #5 overall picks and Drouin is putting up identical numbers as Brayden, so what's your argument? You act like Drouin is playing like Ovechkin when he hasn't shown he is any better than Brayden. Just younger. Lightning get a defenseman who is more physical, younger, a good passer, and a MUCH better contract value than Carle.

7.) 04 Jan 2016 13:42:10
My argument is Luke is garbage, thx for JVR btw. And Brayden is what 24? Played 3-4 yrs in the NHL already while Drouin is 20 played 1? Doesn't matter if they were both 5th overalls. That Stefan guy went 1st overall in front of the Sedins? Daige 1st overall? Busts just like the Schnens.

This may be a deal closer to the deadline if the Flyers find themselves out of the race. If Neuvirth keeps playing well, it would be wise to sell high on him.

Flyers: Neuvirth, Lecavalier (retain $1 mil), Manning, Hagg
for
Maple Leafs: Bernier, Marincin

Bernier has had an off year while Neuvirth has been one of the best in the league. Definite upgrade in net for the Leafs while Bernier gets reunited with Kim Dillabaugh which may rejuvenate his game. Flyers also need to clear some space on the blueline, which Streit will get traded to a contender thanks to the emergence of Gostisbehere. Leafs get some decent defensive depth (Hagg projects as a middle pair defender) Marincin just has a little bit different style of play from Manning (less physical, more consistent defense) . Lecavalier gets thrown in for offensive depth for Toronto and a quality leader that unfortunately got thrown into a bad situation in Philly. All in all, the Leafs take on about $1.8 million in salary, which they can still handle when players comes off IR. It's a bit of a risk for both teams, but could pay future dividends for both.

Flyers finally send out Lecavalier, can buyout Umberger, clear salary and open up the roster for younger players.

Doesn't Bernier cost quite a lot?

2.) 23 Dec 2015 07:32:52
Bernier has a cap hit of $4.15 million thru next year. If Dillabaugh can help him with his game he would be worth the trade.

Multiple league sources saying Flyers and Avs have been talking the past few days, and subsequently Duchene's name has hit the market. As hard as it is to say, Flyers should sell Giroux while he has high value.

Giroux, Luke Schenn, Radko Gudas
for
Duchene, Grigorenko, Zadorov

Flyers get younger, free some cap, get a center in return who is similar to Giroux. Avs get a better center in Giroux and some blueline help.

Flyers also need to sell players to get younger to be able to contend in 5 years. This team just isn't cutting it and stand a better chance when the "Fab Five" D prospects, along with Konecny, are ready.

Mark Streit, Matt Read
for
Ryan Ellis, Barret Jackman

Brayden Schenn
for
Jiri Sekac, 3rd

Flyers get younger, patch the D (because it can't be fixed until the young guys come up), and free little more cap. Preds get some players that can help them win now and the Ducks get some much needed scoring help.

I like the potential of this theoretical team more than what this current team is doing. Fill the team with young snipers and playmakers, try to pair some puck movers with stay at home defenders (try to ignore the defense for 2 years), and watch a future blueline blossom to make a complete team.

Don't think they give up Giroux.

2.) 14 Nov 2015 01:27:55
For some reason I think Giroux's value will be pretty high for a while. You're talking as if he's on the decline. He's in his 20's for Pete's sake!

Sutter is out with sports hernia and Henrik Sedin went out with an injury against the Flyers. Maybe the Flyers send Lecavalier to the Canucks to help at center?

"Lecavilier to the Canucks to help at center. "
Oxymoron. :)

2.) 18 Dec 2015 15:04:55
There would be a lot of other and cheaper options then Vinny.

@stanley I agree with you that Brayde Schenn has lots of potential, which is why he has high value. As for Luke Schenn, he is a decent defender (occasionally gets caught out of position), but not worth paying him 3.6 million to play 3rd pair. My goal here is to get cap space by dumping some bad contracts, and teams like Edmonton and Buffalo have cap room to take some contracts. Myers value is going to be overestimated because of how many teams want him and he'll go to the highest bidder, but the Flyers have so many assets that they can move. And with the defensive prospects they have, I wouldn't be too worried. But if you feel the Buffalo trade is a little off, maybe Buffalo sends a pick/prospect back. Hopefully a new team gives Myers a little boost or sigh of relief.

I am assuming the asking price for Myers is really high as he is one of the most coveted players on the rumor block. It might take that to get him. Murray holds the upper hand, but Brayden is an odd man out because of Philly's depth at C and his lack of skill to play LW, so he is very expendable, Especially with Vinny back and Laughton coming up soon. If we can trade Luke and replace him on D with Myers, that's an easy decision.

What if you substitute Petry for Klefbom/Marincin, change the 2nd to a 3rd/4th?

Franson and Schenn on a line together would be ridiculous. #1 and #3 in the league in hits makes one hell of a checking defensive pairing. That's 542 hits combined! That's more than some teams' entire defense!
