MG69 posted this trade and asked for help to complete the trade:
PIT: Martin, Bennett, and a 3rd
BUF: Stewart and Foligno

GordiesGang responded with this trade looking to balance the cap
PIT: Paul Martin ($5,000,000), Beau Bennett ($900,000) & Brian Dumoulin
BUF: Chris Stewart (retain 50%, 2,075,000) & Marcus Foligno ($1,875,000)

sabres14 also replied with this trade that may be an equal exchange but does not fix the cap.
Dumoulin, Bennett, and 2nd 2015 for Stewart and Foligno

Finally, Pens1994 gave this assessment
That is the biggest joke of a trade I have ever seen. Martin could fetch one of the forwards by himself and Bennet could grab the other one with a pick coming to Pit.

Taking all of that into consideration, here is my proposal:
PIT: Paul Martin ($5,000,000), Derrick Pouliot
BUF: Chris Stewart (retain 50%, 2,075,000), Marcus Foligno ($1,875,000) & JT Compher
PIT gets two tough forwards and over a $1MM of cap relief and a good prospect, BUF gets a good Dman prospect (never too many) and a Dman that maybe they could flip. Who needs to add?

stanleycup2019

1.) 25 Nov 2014 14:44:57
Think Pouliot gets undervalued alot. Apart from that I don't think PIT is trading him, I think BUF adds, if they want him over Dumoulin.

2.) That still only leave BUF with Pouliot after this season for all those assets that's an easy no for Murray. Martin is best suited for a cup contender not a team like BUF who is rebuilding

3.) These are awful. Especially the last trade, poliout has been putting up at least a point per game in every level he's played (Juniors, and the AHL right now)

4.) What about this stanleycup2019

PIT: Martin, Pouliot, Bennett, and a 2nd
BUF: Stewart (50% retained), Foligno, and Grigerenko

You guys than trade Martin at the deadline to a contender for a pick, prospect, or both. This of course is assuming you would end up with 1st or 2nd overall and can draft McDavid or Eichel.

5.) @MG69, I would love to make that trade. IMO BUF could retain some of Martin's salary and flip him for additional blue chip prospects before the deadline. Is PIT giving up too much?

6.) Depends on what Grigerenko's value is.

7.) So, Christ Stewart is a lackadaisical forward and does need change, but will that change spark any offensive upside that the Penguins are looking in their next forward acquisition? Also, Marcus Foligno is nowhere near his brother in potential and would only be recognized as a third liner/depth forward. Penguins would need a lot coming back to them for two solid dmen. Especially if they take into consideration that Buffalo would most certainly trade Martin after acquiring for my pieces to their puzzle.

8.) Penguins say no to this trade too. Martin to Buffalo makes no sense and the return isn't good enough for Pittsburgh to trade him.

25 Nov 2014 11:34:08
PIT - Paul Martin $5,000,000
PHI- Brayden Schenn, $2,500,000; Luke Schenn, $3,600,000
PHI has been shopping the Schenns for a Dman, PIT has been shopping Martin for a replacement for Dupuis
PHI is right up against the cap even with Timonen, Pronger and White LTIR, PIT has some space due to the Pascal Dupuis, LTIR
Who has to add?

stanleycup2019

1.) Pittsburgh SURELY has to add.Martin isn't exactly what the Flyers need! He's not young. He's not a number 1 and he's not worth both schenn's

2.) Luke Schenn at 3.6 million has little value. Penguins would want Philadelphia to keep some of his salary.

3.) This is a horrible trade for the Penguins. You don't give up a top pairing defenseman for a 3rd line center and a 3rd pairing defenseman.

4.) Martin gets put on top pair and B. Schenn gets slotted in alongside Geno. As we all know,(if anyone has watched) B. Schenn can produce when next to the right guys, for example, Giroux. Therefore, PIT solves their top 6 winger role where they could use him as a center if need be and also get a dman back in return, where at this point L. Schenn needs new scenery.

5.) Luke Schenn can get new scenery if the Flers keep a third of his salary. Otherwise I'd rather have Del Zotto and the Flerys can keep their 6th D-man on a crappy defense.

6.) Nick Schultz gets more playing time than Schenn. enough said.

PHI trades Brenden Schenn, Luke Schenn, Ray Emery & 2015 2nd to BUF for Tyler Myers, Johan Larsson & Jhonas Enroth. The original trade was the Schenns and 2nd for Myers. Enroth should upgrade the GK and Larsson is a prospect. The cap exchange is almost equal.

Montreal trades C Lars Eller and D Nathan Beaulieu for Edmonton's RW Nail Yakupov and D Jeff Petry

stanleycup2019

1.) Yakupov>Eller
Petry>Beaulieu

Edmonton declines fast

2.) Edmonton easily says no, they'll be asking a lot more than that . Potential superstar or a potential 1st overall bust, either way it's in Edmonton's best interest to wait and see.

3.) If EDM said yes, that would be the worst trade of the year

4.) 1st place Habs say no thanks, they don't want the Yak for anything, and besides Eller has more goals than Yak & more size, checking ability and can actually contribute defensively. Eller is a more complete player than Yak will ever be.
if Yak is so valuable, why do OIls fans keep trying to trade him.

5.) Habs don't want the Yak,

6.) Actually it's mostly habs fans that put up ridiculous trade proposal's of Yakupov to Montreal.

7.) I've never heard anyone in Montreal ever talk about the Habs obtaining Yak. send him to Toronto for Celine and JVR

8.) Bagel, I've never been to Montreal so I couldn't tell you what they're saying about the habs obtaining Yakupov, but on this site it is mostly delusional habs fans making ridiculous trade proposal's for Yakupov.

Dallas Receives: D-Tyler Myers
Buffalo Receives: D-Jamie Oleksiak, F-Shawn Horcoff, and 2015 1st

stanleycup2019

1.) I do not think you are far off. Myers would be a good fit in d
Dallas, and as a TX guy Dallas could really market him well.

The package going to Buffalo would be what they want, a young D-Man who can play in the NHL now, and a 1st round pick. Then they take the salary dump or Horcoff or Cole which comes off the books at the end of the year.

2.) 20 Nov 2014 17:21:10
Think it's a good, realistic trade.
But if I'm Dal, I wouldn't do that.

3.) I'd take this if I were Dallas. Their defense has been pretty mediocre so far this season. Granted, it's still early, but adding a big shutdown guy like Myers is something that would drastically help.

This also in a way helps Buffalo. Getting back a younger defenseman and a 1st rounder helps with their current rebuild.

Dallas may need to add a tad more, but this trade looks good all around.

4.) Earlier, I merely copied Chad DeDomincis of the Fourth Period trades. As an after thought, I decided to look more closely at DAL's needs and saw that they could use a better back up GK and another right handed shot. So I modified the trade to address those two needs:
DAL trades D-Julius Honka, F-Shawn Horcoff, L-Erik Cole, & 2015 1st to BUF for D-Tyler Myers, C-Cody Hodgson & GK-Jhonas Enroth
Oleksiak stays with DAL giving them twin towers defense, Honka gives BUF a future PP specialist. Myers goes back to Texas and Cole goes back to New York. Finally, maybe BUF takes Anders Lindback to balance the salaries.

5.) Why would BUF want Horcoff or Cole were in a rebuild. BUF needs prospects and picks at this point not guys past there prime.

6.) @sabres14 their contracts only run 2 years and it would give cap relief to the Dallas to make the trade happen (Dallas is near the cap max). I like the original trade so much that I am willing to add to it make it happen. 4 first round picks next year, WOW! With Ruff as the Stars head coach it is a good chance that this will also be a lottery pick. Honka is the kind of PP D-specialist that teams need to go all the way.

7.) Murray has already set the price at Nichuskin +, and he isn't going to budge on that. Myers is a key piece of our rebuild and there is no reason we should trade him. That is why the asking price is so high. Murray won't move him unless it's for another key piece which he shouldn't. He won't settle for anything less than a huge overpayment because he knows someone is going to become desperate and give it to him.

8.) And in two years what are we left with:

Julius Honka and whoever we got with the 1st in 2015

For

Myers, Hodgson, and Enroth

No thanks, if Murray waits he can get much more than that for Myers alone

9.) @Sabres14 you are correct. I just felt that Honka could be the PP specialist that is needed to win the cup. Upon reflection that would be an over-payment. Thanks for curbing my enthusiasm. BTW there are currently 3 trades on this site that would return 2-1st's and a 2nd to the Sabres this year. That gives you an idea of the talent that remains on this team after trading away many of its best players last year. I would hardly call these players PeeWees.

The entire Buffalo Sabres for future considerations to any team stupid enough to make the trade.
Or remove Ted Nolan as head coach and replace him with a cut out of Scotty Bowman.

stanleycup2019

1.) Just remember, they're getting one of McDavid, Eichel, or Hanifin this year, and Reinhart will likely be playing next year. Myers has potential, so if they can get someone good to play with him, the Sabres might have a chance of turning themselves around. One area where they need to be better is goaltending. Enroth and Neuvirth were both good a year or two ago. Not so much now.

The entire buffalo Babres team to any team for a 7th. That may be Too much of a return.

stanleycup2019

1.) Yeah they really sucked so far.

Stewart (retain 50%), Phil Verone, SLB 2015 2nd for Baertchi.

IMO Stewart could be had for a "B" prospect i.e. Ryan Fitzgerald or similar from another team and a late 2nd/ early 3rd or a "C" prospect i.e. Matt Grzelcyk.

This is just a comparison trade, I am not proposing this.
BUF trades: GK Andrey Makarov, LL Marcus Foligno & 2015 2nd (MIN or NYI, EDM choice)
EDM trades: F Nail Yakupov
Andrey Makarov=>Kristers Gudlevskis (playing in the same league as Gudlevskis, Makarov is a year younger, has a superior SV% and GAA .912, 2.92 V .896, 3.06)
Marcus Foligno>>>JT Brown (Both kill penalties, while Brown is the primary TBL RW but Foligno is a year younger, hits more often 68 v 16, scores more points 55p/155gm v 23p/88g and outweighs Brown by 50 pounds)
2015 2nd=>2016 2nd (neither MIN nor NYI teams will finish higher than TBL)
That should make up for the difference between Carle and Petry. If that was all it took to get Yak, I would think the trade would have been made. I seriously doubt EDM would give Yakupov for what Buffalo would be offering in this trade, so I doubt TBL would get him for what Tampa is offering in the trade you proposed.

What can you expect? He was merely affirming that the Canadians are #1. LOL. He is a bit of an animal who has been allowed to run goalies, threaten players during the series ending handshake, then have Chara step in when John Scott wanted to challenge him last year. We all know there is an unwritten code among hockey players. Part of that code is "you play rough, you have to fight". It is not in a rule book, it is not spoken even among players, they all know it. Lucic dishonors the code, dishonors hockey, dishonors sportsmanship, dishonors all athletes. I am sorry he ever won a cup, he does not deserve the glory of Lord Stanley.
